Chapter 65: Demigod dreams?
After I had made my Potion, it was time to experiment further with more ingredients and increasingly more magic involved.
The results were both horrifying and disturbing.
Why?
Well, imagine if you used a bunch of ingredients, involved the magic of a warder, runes and an Unsung elves magic. The resulting Potion could turn effects into permanent body modifications that could be done even without the persons consent.
Now think if I use something like demonic magic and Shriek Metal, something that was already as wrong and corrupt as it could get.
Needless to say, the potential of both Potion and poison creation was extremely high, I just needed to figure them out more and make something incredible with them. Atleast more incredible than what I had created so far, since it was hardly enough to level the skills up.
Eventually Annabeth and Grover woke up, since both of them had had the chance to actually sleep a bit before. I took the bed Grover had slept in since there were only two options and wasn't going to listen to a barely teenage girl fuss about letting a boy sleep in her bed.
As soon as my head touched the pillow, it was lights out. At first I questioned if there would be any nightmares but I was quickly disproven when I saw Luke, his back turned to me, talking to what I could only assume was Kronos. It played out pretty much as I had expected and exactly like it had in canon, which was a blessing considering that this meant that neither of them saw me as more of a risk than they should.
The dream quickly changed after that into me waking up in an old and stuff house with cracked mirrors and broken glass windows.
At my feet lay a bag, old and torn from use. Inside were several things such as school supplies, toiletries and more.
I considered the situation I was in and concluded that I had either been abandoned or had ran away from a home that I had no memory of.
Slowly I stood up, noting how my feet felt slightly off and my weight had slightly shifted as soon as I had stood up.
The mirror in front of me reflected an unfamiliar sight.
I front of me stood a tall figure with a lean physic. I was nolonger human but a bunny. Well, not a simple one anyway, considering I was still more or less humanoid. But other than my form I was still exactly that, a humanoid bunny.
I stood there, staring at my fractured reflection and a sense of heaviness set in. I knew I had a dream like that before, a dream that I had forgotten and I knew that there was a story to this new face I had but I couldn't figure out how or why I knew that.
Movement caught my attention, a dark figure, overshone by the brought full moon behind them, had somehow come in, catching me completely off guard.
Then, suddenly, I looked down the barrel of a silver gun.
*Bang*
The gunshot echoed within the rotting walls of the old house and I... I woke up with a start, again inside the house, still inside the bed.
I jumped up, hitting my head against the ceiling and falling back down again.
A silver gun barrel.
*Bang*
Again I woke up, this time I immediately grabbed what I could and threw myself out of the window behind me. I tried to land on my feet but the required movements felt unfamiliar to me in this new body. I landed on my back, my breath knocked out of me by the impact.
Silver flashed.
*Bang*
And again I woke up, in the bed. Again I grabbed everything I could and threw myself out of the window. I landed on my feet this time but still twisted my ankle. I turned around limping away before, once again.
*Bang*
Seriously? How long will this take until I can get this right?
*Bang*
And again and again this went. It took me 7 tries to get the landing right, 12 to finally get to the end of the road without being shot in the back, which wasn't a slow enough death for the shooter because a second shot would always follow the first.
*Bang*
27 tries until I managed to get away from the city block, 27 tries during which I had to use everything I had learned in other nightmares and reality, such as Parcouring, stealth and more.
45 times until I managed to figure out where I was, the neighborhood hadn't really been telling.
I was in some cracked up version of New York. High skyscrapers in the distance, but not really obvious since it was night time and for some reason, most of the lights around were off.
87 tries until I determined the setting I was in, the time loop being a given. Because apparently it wasn't enough to be stuck in one but I had to be stuck in one withing the DC Universe.
123 tries until I successfully managed to trick, lure and capture my shooter and a king use of my knowledge of Torture methods to make him tell me why he was shooting me.
Turns out I had somehow managed to get on some gangs radar when I had tried to play vigilante to save a few metas from being trapped and sold of in a trafficking ring.
Didn't really help my case that others thought I was one as well. Though I doubted the truth of that statement. Regardless...
124 tries until I managed to kill the bastard without him killing me as well.
Oh, sorry got to correct that. 146 tries. That bastard had a lot of backup plans set in motion.
From here on I managed to get a slightly smooth sailing for a time, continuing to play vigilante or as the city I was active in soon began to du me. A psychopathic serial killer with no motive and no traces.
Until one day a red blur, one that I soon realized was actually the Flash, snapped handcuffs to my wrists, brought me to a prison were I was then rapes by inmates when a prison break happend and later died in an explosion cause by either the Flash, possibly by accident, or the prison break. The jury was still out on that.
187 tries where I still ended up in prison, butanaged to kill anyone that tried to rape me. Explosion still happend though.
192 tries until I managed to both kill anyone that tried to rape me and had Flash stop the explosion.
I was later released due to having show being not as psychotic as everyone thought and it being revealed that I had only killed members of trafficking rings and child predetors.
221 tries until the Justice League formed, surprisingly I had been given an invitation. I rejected it.
382 tries until I both joined the league, killed Darkside and annihilated his homeworld via different bombs and magics I had learned.
456 tries before I finally managed to figure out a way to travel dimensions in the hope of eventually waking up from this endless nightmare.
798 tries until I finally though I had ended the nightmare when I had not only settled down with my husband, got launched outside of the universal border, drivted around a few centuries within the abyss, before somehow creating a family on my own. Don't ask me how that worked, I had no idea and for all sense and purpose was definitely male.
Got somehow several names and may or may not have named my children, as there was no possible way for them to not be, after the Outer gods.
2041 tries until I figured out that this was actually the only way for me to go as all the other paths I could take always ended with me dying.
2052 tries until I had returned to the point I had reached before, figured out that there was no way for me to wake up myself. Somehow my kids picked up on that, began a cult based on Azathoth, at which point I had began to realize that I had actually become the very god resulting in me figuring out that I was now the father and origin of an entire pantheon of outer gods, all withing a nightmare I was currently having. Eventually my kids fell asleep, my husband and I still being awake and together, telling them stories and more whenever they began to enter light sleep episodes and eventually fell asleep as well.
And then I woke up again, but this time no longer in that old house but again inside the train. Finally awake from my very long nightmare. Gods I hope I never have time loop nightmares again.
The first thing I asked about, to my luck neither Grover and Annabeth being present, was where my husband was. Then I questioned the empty air for my children before I quickly realized that neither were here. That they didn't really exist either.
So while I had woken up from what had been essentially millenia on millenia of sleep, followed by and immediate existential crisis, depression about my entire family being just a dream and anger that it had been taken from me, Grover and Annabeth returned from the from of the train, where they had just met a sweet old mid western lady with her poodle, bringing with them still warm sandwiches that had been made in the bord Bistros.
Needless to say I didn't actually want to eat anything but Grover still forced me to. Neither of them noticed any changes in my behavior, which was a bi alarming since by now I was beginning to actually close in on the Greek gods estimateed age if we consider my second nightmare as the Pale one and add to it the age and experience I had gathered on this one. Gods am I happy that my base power doesn't actually increase with my age.
Oh right I forgot, it actually does.
By now, even if I in my main body hadn't reached a divine level, I was still able to exert about the same level of power as some minor gods had in their specific domains. Right now I could probably beat Triton in a competition of water control, the most basic of skill any child of Poseidon had.
At that isn't even mentioning anything I had learned during this specific nightmare. In short, and for those that haven't really noticed by now, even considering my rant. I was extremely frustrated and happend to know that someone was coming, someone that was still considered a minor goddess, one that noone in particular liked and that would eventually be replaced by me if I continued down the road I was currently on.
Let's just say, even without the use of any magical and other such skills I had learned and mastered, I would make sure that Echidna wouldn't walk away from our meeting, not only did she appear to be the perfect punishing bag, but I had already a bad experience with her during my first nightmare. Death was the only way for her.
