Percy Jackson: The Silver Wolf of the Goddess of Love

Chapter 11: To Be Claimed

Late that night, everyone gathered around the campfire. Hikari observed as the campers offered their food to the flames, a ritual he learned was meant for the gods. Following suit, he placed half of his food into the fire, hoping to honor the deities. Percy, inspired by Hikari's actions, did the same, and Yami followed without hesitation.

As they returned to their meals, Chiron stepped forward to address the campers.

"Listen up, everyone!" he called, drawing attention. "Today we have four new campers: three demigods—Hikari, Yami, and Percy—and one clear-sighted mortal, Natsuki. They will be sleeping in the Hermes cabin until their godly parents claim them."

Before Chiron could finish his announcement, a collective gasp echoed through the crowd. Hikari and Yami felt a sudden surge of energy, and both looked up to see divine symbols appearing above their heads. Hikari's eyes widened as he took in the spectacle.

The first symbol, the largest and most vibrant, was a pink bird encircled by a heart. Below it were Spartan helmets crossed with a sword and spear, glowing ominously red. Underneath, two hammers crossed together shimmered with a brown hue. Hikari blinked in disbelief at the symbols surrounding him.

Yami, on the other hand, had a jet-black girl with wings hovering above him, a sight both striking and foreboding.

Chiron, stunned, nearly stumbled backward. "This... this is unprecedented! The speed of your claims—"

His voice faltered as he turned to Hikari, his expression shifting to one of alarm.

"All hail Hikari, Son of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty; Goddess of Lust and Sexuality; Goddess of Desire and Pleasure. Champion of Ares, God of War and Violence; God of Battlelust and Rage; Master of Taunts and Protector of Women; Champion of Hephaestus, God of Fire, Forges, Sculpture, Metalworking, Stone Masonry, Carpenters, Metallurgy, Artisans, and Volcanoes; Lord of Craftsmen and Smiths; Blacksmith of the Gods."

The campers stared in shock as Chiron's voice echoed through the clearing. Then he turned to Yami, still reeling from the whirlwind of revelations.

"All hail Yami, Son of Eris, Goddess of Discord and Chaos!"

The silence that followed was palpable, broken only by a startled camper's incredulous shout. "What the fuck?!"

Laughter erupted around the fire, breaking the tension. Campers exchanged bewildered glances, trying to process the weight of what they had just witnessed.

Hikari looked at Yami, equally bewildered. "Did that just happen?"

Yami shrugged, a mixture of confusion and amusement on his face. "I think so."

Chiron regained his composure and cleared his throat. "Well, this is certainly a first. I must admit, I've never seen such a rapid claiming before. It seems both of you have powerful connections to your divine parents. It's a blessing, but it also comes with great responsibility."

"Great responsibility?" Hikari echoed, glancing at Percy, who was still processing his own unexpected revelations.

"Indeed," Chiron continued. "You'll learn more about what it means to be claimed as the days go by. For now, let's celebrate your arrival, your claims, and the new adventures ahead."

As the night wore on, laughter and camaraderie filled the air, but Hikari couldn't shake the feeling of being pulled into something far greater than he had anticipated. He shared a glance with Percy and Natsuki, silently acknowledging that their lives had forever changed.

Meanwhile in Olympus

Zeus sat on his throne, a storm brewing in his chest as he surveyed the gathered gods. His brow furrowed in frustration, reflecting his simmering anger over the disappearance of his Master Bolt. But today, his ire was not solely directed at that issue. No, it was also about the new developments concerning Aphrodite and her children.

He glanced over at Aphrodite, who had a calm demeanor despite the turmoil around them. It didn't surprise him that she had so many offspring, but what truly shocked him were the claims of Ares and Hephaestus's champion Hikari.

Around him, the reactions varied. Artemis was scowling, clearly unimpressed. Hermes, ever the jokester, was laughing heartily, finding humor in the chaotic turn of events. Apollo discreetly averted his gaze from Aphrodite, perhaps aware of the tension in the air while still not wanting a spear up his but, while Athena stood in silence, her normally sharp intellect momentarily overwhelmed by the absurdity of the situation.

The weight of Hikari's claim as Aphrodite's son and Yami as Eris's son loomed large, igniting a new wave of unease among the gods. Zeus clenched one of his bolts, his eyes narrowing as he focused on Hikari's name. "No, he mu—"

But before he could finish his thought, Aphrodite interrupted him. She had transformed, donning glimmering armor that reflected her fierce spirit, and gripped a spear that seemed to crackle with divine energy. Her presence was commanding, and for the first time, the king of the gods hesitated.

"Try it," she warned, her voice low but powerful. "And you will know why I was once the strongest goddess of war before I gave up my title to Ares and Athena."

The room fell silent as her words hung in the air, a palpable tension settling among the deities. Zeus narrowed his eyes, gauging her intent, but the power radiating from her was undeniable. The gods knew well enough that beneath her beauty lay a formidable warrior, capable of defending her own.

Ares stepped forward, an amused grin on his face, clearly pleased with the situation. "Looks like our precious champions have stirred up quite the fuss, brother. Perhaps they're a bit more than you expected?"

Hermes shrugged, still avoiding eye contact with Aphrodite. "It's a little early for my taste; maybe they'll calm down before creating more chaos?"

Athena finally regained her composure, pushing back against the tide of confusion. "We need to keep a close watch on these demigods. If Hikari possesses even a fraction of Aphrodite's strength combined with Ares's and Hephaestus's gifts, he could shift the balance of power."

Zeus grunted, still simmering in silence. "Let's not forget Yami, son of Eris. He brings chaos in a way we cannot underestimate."

Aphrodite lowered her spear slightly, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. "My children and his friends are not pawns in your games, Zeus. They are powerful in their own right, and if they are to be champions, we must guide them, not oppose them."

The tension in the room shifted subtly as the gods recognized the truth in her words. While Zeus was still bristling with anger and concern over the Master Bolt, he also knew that a united front among the gods was essential in these unpredictable times.

"Fine," he relented, his voice gruff. "But mark my words: I will not tolerate any disrespect towards Olympus. If these demigods become a threat, I will act decisively."

Aphrodite nodded, her fierce determination unwavering. "We all know the consequences of underestimating the power of love, war, and craftsmanship. If anything, we should be preparing for whatever chaos Eris may unleash next."

With that, the gods turned their attention back to the unfolding events on Earth, each one aware that the emergence of Hikari and Yami would change the dynamics of their realm forever.

Artemis stood at the edge of Olympus, her gaze fixed on the mortal world, more specifically on Hikari. Her expression was stoic, but there was a hint of curiosity in her eyes.

"She is your daughter?" Artemis questioned, her voice sharp and direct, causing a ripple of awkward silence to spread among the gods.

Aphrodite sighed, her patience visibly wearing thin. "...He is a boy."

The silence that followed was shattered by the loud, uncontrollable laughter of Apollo. The sun god, known for his fascination with Japanese culture, was practically beside himself with amusement. His laughter echoed across the halls of Olympus, breaking the tension that had been hanging in the air.

"By the gods!" Hermes wheezed, clutching his stomach as he laughed even harder. "You've given birth to a trap!" His voice shook with mirth, the term bringing forth his deep dive into Japanese anime culture. "Oh, this is priceless! AHAHAHA!"

The other gods, however, were too stunned to react immediately. Athena's brow furrowed, processing this revelation, while Hera looked deeply unamused. Hermes, hiding a grin, was wisely keeping quiet. Ares, on the other hand, snorted, though not with amusement but because he, like many others, wasn't exactly sure how to process Apollo's enthusiasm.

Aphrodite crossed her arms, rolling her eyes at Apollo's outburst but remaining composed. "Hermes, I suggest you stop laughing before I turn your next conquest into a trap for you," she said with a smirk.

Hermes finally managed to calm down, though he still chuckled here and there. "Come on, you have to admit—it's kind of hilarious."

Aphrodite's expression remained unchanged. "Hikari is my son, no matter how he dresses or what others assume about him. And that is all that matters."

Artemis, who had no patience for Apollo's antics, finally spoke again, her voice cold. "You may find this amusing, Apollo, but it changes nothing. He may be a child of Aphrodite, but we must not forget the stakes of this new demigod's power."

Zeus, still fuming from earlier, let out a low growl of frustration. "Enough. Focus on the real issue. We have a missing Master Bolt, and we don't need distractions from...this," he gestured vaguely towards Apollo, who was still struggling to keep his grin under control.

As the gods turned their attention back to the larger matters at hand, Apollo gave Aphrodite a final wink. "Still, though—Hikari being Aphrodite's son? That's going to make the mortal world even more interesting."

Aphrodite, unbothered, returned his glance with a raised eyebrow, as if daring him to say more. "My son will be more than interesting, Apollo. He will be legendary."

[ I have relsied I have spelling Artemis wrong all this time oops ]

Artemis then spoke. "And he is another boy, he will be like all the other 80% of the male population"

As then a spear almost hit her, as Aphrodite was next to Artemis, there eyes meet eachother

Artemis narrowed her eyes, her posture rigid as she met Aphrodite's gaze without flinching. The sudden tension between the two goddesses was palpable, and the other Olympians watched in uneasy silence. Apollo had stopped laughing entirely, knowing better than to get between his twin sister and Aphrodite when tempers flared.

"And what is that supposed to mean?" Aphrodite snapped, her voice low and dangerous. "You balls-busting feminist, if you so much as lay a finger on my son, you'll wish you hadn't." Her hand hovered near her spear, her eyes blazing with protective fury.

Artemis remained unfazed. "It means exactly what I said," she replied coolly, her disdain evident. "He's another boy—like all the others. You've raised him, and I doubt he'll be much different from the rest of the 80% of the male population who disappoint. I have no high hopes for him to be a decent male... especially since he's your son."

Aphrodite's expression hardened. "Sins of the mother much?" she countered. Her voice was sharp, cutting through the air like the edge of a blade. "Don't you dare judge my son based on your jaded views of men, Artemis. He's more than you could ever imagine."

The words hung in the air, thick with the weight of centuries of animosity between the two goddesses. Artemis, champion of independence and sworn to her eternal vow of chastity, had never seen eye-to-eye with Aphrodite, who represented love, passion, and everything Artemis had distanced herself from.

Artemis crossed her arms, her face devoid of any hint of backing down. "I suppose time will tell. But mark my words, Aphrodite. I've yet to meet a son of yours who hasn't been a walking disaster waiting to happen."

Aphrodite's hand gripped her spear tighter. "And I've yet to meet a man who hasn't been terrified of your frigid judgment. But Hikari is different. He's got more heart than any of the so-called hunters you claim to train, and he's got the courage to prove it."

The tension between them threatened to explode into something more, but before either could act, Zeus slammed his hand on the armrest of his throne, sending a boom of thunder through the halls of Olympus. "Enough!" he roared, his voice shaking the entire room.

"You can settle your petty squabbles another time. We have bigger problems to deal with." His eyes flashed dangerously as he surveyed the gathered gods, ensuring silence.

Aphrodite shot one final glare at Artemis before stepping back, but the fire in her eyes made it clear: this was far from over. Artemis, though stoic, couldn't entirely hide her simmering frustration.

The room remained silent, tension still thick, as the gods turned their focus back to the more pressing matters—though the rivalry between Aphrodite and Artemis was now even more pronounced than before.

Back in camp half-blood, as everyone was done eating, as Hikari was looking at Yami.

Hikari looked at him. "Hey don't our Parent's have beef with eachother".

Yami just looked at him and spoke. "yeah but I don't think it is that bad right.

Hikari raised an eyebrow. "True, but from what I've heard, Eris doesn't exactly throw tea parties. I mean, Goddess of Discord and all."

Yami chuckled. "Yeah, she's more into throwing chaos rather than tea. But honestly, it's not like they're at war or anything. Sure, my mom causes a bit of havoc, and your mom... well, she's Aphrodite. Chaos and love don't always mix well, but hey, it's not the end of the world." He paused, thinking. "At least she's not Artemis, Athena, or Hera. If it was them, we'd probably be at each other's throats already."

Hikari shrugged, glancing around at the other campers who were still talking about their sudden divine claiming. "Yeah, I guess. Still feels weird though, like there's some kind of tension in the air. And with all that stuff about champions... it feels bigger than just us."

Yami nodded. "Yeah, it's weird. Champions of gods usually have a reason. Maybe they're expecting us to do something... or maybe it's just because we're cooler than everyone else."

Hikari snorted. "Right. Cool. That's definitely it." He looked at the sky, a slight frown forming. "Still, I can't shake the feeling that something big is coming. Something we're not ready for."

Yami leaned back, gazing at the stars. "Then we better get ready."
