Chapter 35: Chapter 35
The snowy outskirts of Van Cortlandt Park crackled with tension as Peter Parker (MC) and the alternate Peter Parker from Earth-1610 stood side by side, facing Green Goblin hovering on his glider.
The forest's snow-laden trees loomed around them, the early January 2003 dusk casting long shadows as the crack in the sky pulsed faintly overhead. Peter (MC) tensed, his red and black suit taut against his frame, his mind sharp with the Ultimate Spider-Man playbook he knew by heart.
Can't let Goblin jet off with my DNA, he thought, his fists clenching. Gotta ground him—now.
"Hey, glider guy!" Peter (MC) shouted, darting forward with a burst of speed. "Catch me if you can!" He fired a web line at a nearby tree, swinging low and fast toward Goblin, who snarled and banked his glider to intercept. As Goblin swooped, Peter twisted mid-air, releasing the web and launching himself at the glider's underside.
His hands gripped the metal, and with a grunt, he yanked hard, tearing at the propulsion system with his enhanced strength. Sparks flew, the glider shuddering as Peter smashed his fist into its engine, wrenching it apart.
Take that, Goblin Airlines, he thought, grinning beneath his mask as the glider sputtered and crashed into the snow, metal crunching against ice.
Green Goblin leapt free, landing in a crouch, his green eyes blazing with fury as he glared at Peter (MC). "You insolent pest!" he roared, his voice a guttural snarl. "You'll pay for that—both of you!" He lunged, claws slashing as he charged, snow exploding around him.
Peter (MC) dodged, rolling aside as Goblin's claws raked the air where he'd been. "Pissed off yet?" he taunted, springing to his feet and swinging a heavy punch at Goblin's jaw, connecting with a solid thud.
Not pulling back—gotta keep him down, he thought, his muscles coiling as he pressed the attack. Goblin staggered but retaliated, hurling a pumpkin bomb from his belt. Peter (MC) webbed it mid-air, yanking it back at Goblin's feet—boom!—the explosion sending snow and dirt flying, forcing Goblin to stumble.
The alternate Peter—Earth-1610's Spider-Man—swung in, webbing Goblin's arm to a tree. "Nice move!" he called to Peter (MC), his voice sharp over the chaos. "We've gotta take him out—focus his legs, keep him pinned!"
"Got it!" Peter (MC) replied, ducking a wild swipe from Goblin's claws and landing a brutal kick to his shin, the crack of impact echoing through the trees. "But I'm not here to play nice—this guy's toast!" Earth-1610 Peter's going for the win, he thought, but I'm not holding back—Goblin's too dangerous. He webbed Goblin's other arm, pulling hard to slam him into a tree trunk, bark splintering under the force.
Green Goblin roared, ripping free of the webs with a surge of strength, his fury boiling over. "You'll regret that, insects!" He charged, tackling Peter (MC) into the snow, claws slashing at his chest. Peter grunted, the suit tearing slightly as he drove his knee into Goblin's gut, flipping him off and springing up. Goblin rolled, hurling another bomb—this time at the alternate Peter, who flipped backward, webbing it to a branch where it exploded harmlessly.
"Watch the bombs!" the alternate Peter yelled, swinging around to web Goblin's legs together. "We need him down—together!"
Peter (MC) nodded, lunging forward and slamming both fists into Goblin's chest, knocking him back into the snow with a heavy thud. "Together works," he said, breathing hard, "but I'm not letting up—he's not flying anywhere!" Gotta crush him—keep him here, he thought, his fists raining down as Goblin snarled, clawing at the air. Goblin kicked free, his strength monstrous, and swung a wild punch that Peter (MC) ducked, countering with an uppercut that snapped Goblin's head back.
The alternate Peter webbed Goblin's arms again, pulling tight to restrain him. "You're brutal, man!" he said, his tone a mix of surprise and focus. "Ease up a bit—we need him alive to stop this!"
"Alive, sure," Peter (MC) shot back, dodging a swipe and slamming his elbow into Goblin's side, "but not happy!" He webbed Goblin's legs to the ground, pinning him as Goblin thrashed, his glider a wrecked heap nearby. He's grounded—good, Peter thought, his chest heaving. Now we finish this—no mercy.
Snow swirled around them, the forest a battlefield of ice and chaos, Green Goblin's rage clashing with the two Spider-Men's relentless assault. The standoff had erupted into a brutal fight, Peter (MC) unleashing his full force while the alternate Peter worked to subdue their foe, their voices cutting through the fray as the showdown raged on.
