Chapter 3: Future Plans And Invetory Check

I had fallen into a deep slumber for a while. By the golden undies of the emperor, I missed sleep. After awakening my mind, I took a moment to check my inventory. Before anyone questions why this was nearly free, let me explain my 'inventory.' This technological marvel was a combination of the peak of the Golden Era, ancient Necron engineering, and Warp-Tech of the Old Ones. It was a subdimension created by the brilliant minds of the Federation, including myself. The goal was to make logistics instantaneous, though it didn't quite achieve that. But I did get a fancy backpack, a physical imitation of my mind place (at least a part of it), and a machine called the Dimensional Anchor, which is just a coordinate machine. So basically, I already have 99% of it in my head.

With my new and untainted body, I could finally unleash my psychic power and access my inventory without risking collapse (apparently when you are fighting against the god of decay and disease, you get every known and unknown disease). My old body was too torn that it couldn't handle the pressure of my psychic powers anymore. I was even stronger than Malcador. And now an overwhelming power emitted from my mind. I could feel the link between myself and my inventory again, and that's where I found myself.

It was a huge room with bookshelves on all walls, filled with knowledge.

"Hermes, can you hear me?" I spoke.

[Crystal clear, boss. It's good to be back in business. But, if you'll excuse me, where the heck are we?] An energetic yet mechanical voice echoed in my mind.

"We're on Terra, partner, in M2. Do you remember those comics I used to talk about nonstop?" I could sense the shock in Hermes's voice. Hermes is the AI assistant of my great ship The Avenger. Before you fanatics scream about Abominable Intelligence, Hermes is over twenty thousand years older than the Cybernetic Revolt. He was more loyal than anyone in the galaxy. The revolt was an inside job anyway, but that stuff is now irrelevant. Back to Hermes.

[Comics? Like that superhero stuff? Yeah, I remember those. We and Malcador had to endure that for FIVE THOUSAND YEARS. They're engraved in my memory, both figuratively and physically. What about them?]

"We're in them, specifically DC," I explained, watching his bewildered expression.

[What? How... Error in the logic department. Restarting in 3, 2, 1. Hello again.] I must have broken it. "Are you good, Hermes?" [Please give me a warning before putting me in an existential crisis. I'm good now. So, tell me, how the heck are we in a fictional universe, boss? Last thing I remember is you exploding yourself. Please tell me you didn't shatter reality again.]

"Excuse me! I only destroyed the Space-Time continuum once, and you know this. This time I did nothing. It was * *** ******* **** ********." I can't tell his name? Interesting. "Nevermind. We have more important things to do."

[I am guessing world conquest is among these things, boss. I still remember how much you complained about idiot governments and their idiot shenanigans.]

"You are correct as always, old friend. That is exactly what we are doing. Now, can you give me an inventory check?"

[Of course, boss. As per your last orders, all Legions are sent to planet 4546B to reinforce protocol 'Make Imperium Great Again'. Right now, we only have the main ship and necessary materials for Noah's Ark protocol. Also, you blew up the main engine and all batteries. I am on 0.0001 percent and solely depend on that gear project of yours.] Hermes explained with a clear voice.

"You can use the nuclear engines in sector 3344 for now. I have some ideas for power. Do the LP batteries work?"

[They are in good condition but completely empty. Should I execute Sun Hunter protocol?]

"That will not be necessary, I hope. Anyway, I will start training. There should be a visitor in a few weeks; treat them with respect. And try to recover my playlist."

With this, I closed the connection. Now it is time for a good session of training. Let's start with the Siege of Terra for warming up.

It was suspicious. After all those years of investigation, he never felt this way. Something was wrong.

"It is too easy," said Batman. But the Dark Knight wouldn't go back because of a mere suspicion. He had to solve this for Gotham. With such thoughts in his mind, Batman approached the white building. It was a new addition to Central City. Normally, that would be Flash's responsibility, but this time he made an exception.

He wouldn't risk him for such a suspicious case.

"Alfred, if I am not out after an hour, contact the League."

"Understood, Master Wayne. Please, be careful."

After a quick check of equipment, he approached the building. Suddenly the front door opened. After a quick examination, he moved forward. A long hallway filled with doors welcomed him.

"Welcome, Mr. Batman. You were expected." A mechanic voice echoed in the hallway. "Who are you?" Batman asked. "Just an assistant. Please move this way; my master wishes to speak with you." A door opened as it spoke. There was a small room behind the door. 'An elevator,' Batman thought to himself.

"Please hold yourself."

The door closed, and the elevator started descending. As the elevator descended, various scenes could be seen through the glass walls. Deep oceans, forests, mountain ranges all untouched by human hands. There were also several floors filled with buildings, some futuristic, some historic. With every second, the lift accelerated even more. After some time, he couldn't see anything anymore. He stood in silence while thinking what kind of man he was about to speak to and possible ways to escape. The lift slowed down and stopped.

The doors opened. It was a room filled with futuristic electronics and holograms that made his Batcave a prehistoric place. At the center, a transparent unit could be seen. After looking at the cabin, he fainted.
