Chapter 3: Chapter 3
I start simple—pure, single-color spells.
I pull red mana and let it flow through my body, then go to my right palm. A spark ignites in my palm, then erupts into a burst of searing flames, blasting into the dunes ahead.
The sand glassifies on impact, turning into molten shards before hardening.
I look at the result with a massive grin on my face and nod in satisfaction. Five mana to create a burst of mana that is hot enough to melt sands, and I can continue to activate this to make it like a continuous torrent of fire for ten seconds, or I can concentrate it into a massive burst of fire that explodes, destroying everything in a three-meter radius. As expected of Red Mana. It is destructive.
I take a deep breath and choose Blue Mana next. I pull my Blue Mana and the air around me shimmers. In a blink, I reappear ten meters away—a controlled blink-step that is almost instant. It requires half a second before I teleport. My power also helpfully tells me that I can use this ten times before the mana runs out. The only downside of this spell is that it requires me to have vision because I can teleport an area within my field of vision. That means a smokescreen will prevent me from using this spell. Not my Planeswalker power, though.
The next one is Green Mana. I take a deep breath and pull. I touch the sand and push Green Mana into the earth.
At first, nothing happened. This is a desert, after all. But then—life answers. From the arid ground, a vine bursts forth, curling upward before withering in the heat. The magic is strong, but the land here lacks the foundation for growth. Still, it worked. I wonder if I can create an oasis in this place. An oasis that does not require rain to survive. I have a lot of mana to spend, and creating a miracle here would be great. An oasis that keeps producing water out of nowhere, and the water it produces will always be clean and drinkable.
The fourth one is White Mana. I take a deep breath and pull the mana. I clap my hands, and the white mana expands from my body.
A gentle white aura radiates from my body. A soft pulse of energy spreads outward, forming a protective zone around me. I can feel it—it's a shield, a barrier, a place of order. The wind stops howling for a moment—the desert around me calms. This barrier can block an incoming attack and curse. Not only that, it also has a weak healing property that slowly rejuvenates people inside this barrier and heals small injuries. The barrier lasts for a minute or until the barrier is destroyed.
The last one is Black Mana. I take another breath and pull the mana.
I watch as my shadow moves, and a second later, a humanoid creature made of shadow appears from behind my shadow. My power is kind enough to explain that this creature is a great ambush creature because it can hide in shadows for weeks. When the target walks into its range, it will spring into action and kill the target. I don't know how strong this creature is, but its claws can easily cut steel. I don't know about durability. Can it tank a bullet? Or will it die after a good hit? I don't know. An ambush creature is usually not very durable, after all. I cancel my spell and watch the creature melt into the shadow once again.
Now… I only need to see if I can use them on a macro scale. Let's see if I can create an oasis in the middle of the Great Sand Sea.
I stand in the middle of the endless dunes, the golden sands stretching far beyond the horizon. The heat is relentless, the air dry, the land lifeless.
But it won't be for much longer.
I close my eyes and breathe. I can feel the mana inside me, eager for me to use it. I extend my hands and pour everything I have into the land beneath me.
I pull my green mana and change the ground in front of me. The sand hardens, turns into stones, and creates a massive and deep hole in the middle of the desert. I push my blue mana and create a symbol of power, a symbol of power that is connected to me, in the middle of the hole.
I let my blue mana flow out of me and into the symbol of power. Water pours out of the symbol and fills the hole quickly. It stops when it fills the hole completely. The symbol will make sure the water never runs out. It will always refill the lake when it reaches a certain stage. That means that even without rain, this lake will always have water.
However, I am not done with the artificial lake. I let my White Mana flow into the symbol and make sure the water will always be clean and destroy any filth inside the lake. It will make sure the water is always drinkable and clean.
I look at the land around the lake and clap my hands. I take a deep breath and release a huge amount of green mana. I use the green mana to change the land. The sand beneath my feet darkens and changes—turning from lifeless grains into rich, fertile soil.
I step forward, and life follows.
Grass sprouts, covering the ground like a soft, green carpet. Then, I go further. Trees rise from the earth, towering and strong—fruit-bearing trees, shade-giving trees, plants, and flowers from every corner of the world.
Banana trees, mango groves, olive trees, wheat fields—it all erupts from the land, flourishing as if they have always belonged here.
This place will be a sanctuary—a place of abundance—a place where life thrives.
There is one last touch. It needs protection. It needs a barrier from external and internal attacks. I create a barrier to ensure that no one can commit a crime inside the barrier. Anyone who even thinks of doing that will fall unconscious. This barrier also ensures that no one can enter with a bad intention. This place is for people who want peace.
I squeeze the last bit of my mana to create another barrier. This one is preventing threats from the outside from attacking the oasis. Only short of nuclear warheads can destroy the barrier. I release a tired sigh and use the last bit of my mana to create a 'destroyed' statue of me wearing a mage outfit in the center of the Oasis.
"Statue of God of Life, Terios the Life Bringer"
I chuckle a little and disappear from the Oasis. I arrive in my bedroom and fall on my bed. I release one last tired sigh before darkness takes me.
