Chapter 15: Secrets of the System Core

A blinding blue light filled the chamber as Shira's fingers flew across the holographic console. The System Core pulsed before us—a massive crystalline structure floating above a metallic platform, connected to endless streams of energy flowing like veins across the room.

⚡ [SYSTEM OVERRIDE… 98% LOADING] ⚡

"Almost there," Shira muttered, sweat forming on her brow. "Just a few more seconds…"

Aryan took a cautious step forward, his HUD still flickering from the residual shockwave of Omega-9's destruction. "This place… it's like the heart of the entire game."

Nyx adjusted her daggers, her gaze sharp. "If we control the System Core, does that mean… we can finally escape?"

Suddenly, the room shook violently.

🔻 [ALERT: UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED] 🔻

A deep, mechanical voice resonated through the chamber:

"INTRUDERS IDENTIFIED. INITIALIZING COUNTERMEASURES."

The crystalline core pulsed, and from the surrounding walls, six towering sentinels emerged—each one cloaked in black, their eyes glowing crimson.

⚠ [WARNING: SYSTEM GUARDIANS ACTIVATED] ⚠

Kaine clenched his fists, his body still radiating Hyper Mode energy. "Here we go again."

One of the Guardians lunged forward, its energy spear slicing toward Aryan. He barely managed to block, his energy blade clashing in a shower of sparks.

Shira cursed under her breath. "I need just a little more time! Hold them off!"

The Guardians attacked relentlessly. Kaine tackled one, his brute strength sending it crashing into the walls. Nyx zipped through the chaos, weaving between enemies, her daggers flashing as she struck at their weak spots.

Aryan, dodging another Guardian's strike, noticed something strange—the crystal core was changing. Its once-blue glow flickered with streaks of red, like a virus corrupting its system.

Then a chilling message appeared on his HUD:

🔻 [UNKNOWN ENTITY HAS BREACHED THE SYSTEM CORE] 🔻

A shadowy figure manifested within the glowing crystal, its form barely distinguishable but exuding a menacing presence. A voice, smooth yet filled with malice, echoed in Aryan's mind.

"You thought you could control the System?"

The air grew thick with tension. Shira gasped. "This… this isn't part of the game's programming…"

The figure slowly lifted its head, revealing eerie, glowing violet eyes.

"I AM THE TRUE OVERLORD OF THIS SYSTEM."

The temperature in the chamber plummeted. A sense of dread filled Aryan as the entity raised its hand—and the entire room was engulfed in darkness.
