Chapter 127: The Ocean Prince's Egg!
"Once again, we find ourselves here today."
"But as usual, we're still lost."
"Ugh, you two, stop whining already! We don't know where we are, but there must be humans around. Let's find them and get out of this place, meow!"
As per their usual routine, Team Rocket—Jessie, James, and Meowth—were hopelessly lost.
Well, to be more accurate, they had gotten lost while trying to follow Ash and his friends.
Now, they found themselves on a massive island.
Just then, faint cheers echoed from up ahead.
The trio exchanged glances and rushed toward the sound.
"It's a circus! Perfect! We're out of water, so we can grab a drink there. Maybe we can even hitch a ride with them."
James's eyes lit up, though from a distance, he couldn't quite make out what kind of circus it was.
"Who knows? They might even take us off this island. This is a stroke of luck!"
Jessie grinned. It seemed like fate was finally on their side.
"I'm going ahead, meow! I need to find them and get some water, meow!"
Meowth dashed down the hill without a second thought.
"Meowth, you're so sneaky!"
The trio hurried toward the circus, while Ash and his friends were also drawn to the area by Lizabeth, who had dragged them over to watch the show.
The performance featured Water-type Pokémon, with a Medicham and a Meditite using their psychic powers to manipulate water spouted by the Pokémon, creating enormous floating water orbs in the air.
Inside these orbs, several Water-type Pokémon swam freely, leaping from one orb to another to the delight of the audience.
The crowd erupted in applause.
Seeing such a unique Pokémon circus performance was a rare treat.
"Ash, look! Doesn't that Seaking look like Misty's?"
"Wow! That Luvdisc is so beautiful! It's stunning!"
May and Anabel excitedly pointed out the Pokémon to Ash, while Latias, disguised as Bianca, watched the show with wide-eyed curiosity.
In the city of water, such circus performances were a rare sight.
For Latias, everything about the show was new and fascinating.
It clapped along with the audience, thoroughly enjoying itself.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket had stealthily made their way to the back of the circus's caravan.
As they approached, a thought struck them: with so many Pokémon in the circus, surely there must be something valuable inside the caravan.
Hiding behind the vehicle, they peeked inside.
What they saw was anything but ordinary!
Lizabeth was carefully wiping a container holding an egg.
The egg itself was a stunning sight—a deep blue with a faint red glow at its center.
It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Jessie couldn't contain her excitement.
James quickly flipped through a treasured book he always carried, filled with information on rare and valuable items.
He found a photo that matched the egg perfectly.
"We've hit the jackpot! This is the Egg of the Prince of the Sea! Legend has it that the egg will hatch into the Prince of the Sea, and whoever possesses him will become the true King of the Sea!"
The Prince of the Sea? The King of the Sea?
"We have to get it, James! I want to be the Queen of the Sea! The girl just left—let's sneak in and take it now!"
Jessie was already itching to make her move.
The trio slipped inside and found the egg exactly where the girl had been cleaning it.
But the Egg of the Prince of the Sea was no ordinary treasure—it punished those with impure hearts.
The moment Jessie touched the egg, a bright red light erupted from the container!
The trio was bathed in the crimson glow, and something strange began to happen...
"What... just happened?"
The words left their mouths, and suddenly, everything went silent.
Then, to their horror, they realized their voices had switched bodies!
Jessie's body was speaking in James's voice, Meowth's body had Jessie's voice, and James was now speaking in Meowth's voice!
It was as if their souls had been swapped...
"I don't know what's going on, but we need to get out of here, meow!"
Meowth's voice came from James's mouth.
But as they tried to sneak out of the caravan, they found themselves surrounded!
Of course, Ash had anticipated Team Rocket's return. Whenever he arrived in a new place, he used his Aura abilities to scan the area and ensure the safety of his friends.
He had let Team Rocket take the egg because he knew they would be punished for their greed. It was a bit of mischief on Ash's part—seeing them swap souls was just too good to pass up...
"You guys! Ash said someone might try to steal something, and he was right!"
Ash, May, Anabel, and the circus performers—including the Kyle, his wife Meredith, their daughter Lizabeth, and even the Pokémon Ranger disguised as a clown, Jack Walker —had all gathered to confront the intruders.
"Sceptile, grab that thing!"
"Chamo!"
In a flash, Sceptile snatched the egg from Jessie's hands.
"Hey! That's ours!"
"You can't just take people's things like that! How rude!"
"Yeah, meow! Give it back, meow!"
The trio shamelessly protested, but their complaints were met with Pikachu's Thunderbolt and Pidgeot's Gust!
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again...!"
Ding!
And with that, they were sent flying into the sky, disappearing as tiny stars.
Sceptile handed the egg to Ash, who passed it to Jack Walker, the clown.
"Mr. Jack Walker, right? Ms. Judy mentioned you to us."
Ash asked directly, though Judy had never actually mentioned Jack Walker.
But Jack Walker, hearing that Ash and his friends knew Judy, nodded without suspicion. It was human nature to trust someone who seemed familiar.
Plus, Ash had just helped recover the egg.
"So you know Judy? Yes, I'm Jack Walker. I'm currently on a mission, and the Circus of the Sea is assisting me."
Jack carefully placed the egg back in its container.
"My mission is to return this egg to its rightful place."
Ash nodded. This was exactly the kind of adventure he had been hoping for.
