Chapter 368: Chapter 368
During the aftermath of the battle, Izuna showcased to Kirito and Sneasel what it truly meant to end a fight with zero evasive maneuvers. From start to finish, Izuna used only two techniques: slashing and parrying.
Had Kirito not witnessed it himself, he would never have believed that a player could corner a boss and pummel it into submission.
In the end, Izuna unapologetically claimed the first-clear reward from the boss, acquiring two katanas: [Kureha] and [Sazake].
However, since both katanas had blades that were too long for him to wield comfortably, Izuna stored them in his inventory. He planned to gather materials for custom weapons and have Lisbeth forge them instead.
"When you two reach Level 20 and can solo this boss, you'll get these katanas," Izuna remarked, noticing Kirito's envious gaze.
"Yes!"
"Snee!"
Pokémon Island
August on Pokémon Island marked the height of summer, coinciding with the latter half of students' vacation.
Aside from issuing daily Pokémon-related quests in SAO, Dak spent most of his time in the real world, focusing on two primary tasks.
1. Town and Village Development
Pokémon Island currently had four human settlements: three large cities and one medium-sized city, each uniquely designed to become major tourist attractions.
What was missing were small- and medium-sized towns and villages, akin to the structure of the Pokémon world, where regions featured a mix of bustling cities, tranquil towns, and serene villages.
Recognizing the appeal of quieter locales for some, Dak spent the month planning the construction of these smaller settlements.
The initial phase focused on building towns and villages around Alliance City for convenience, as Angel City, Aquatic City, and Yggdrasil weren't suitable for regular human habitation due to their unique characteristics.
Currently, the plans included three towns and five villages, with one village already completed. Its residents were relocated from a declining ninja village in the Naruto world.
Once a prosperous village with over 700 households and nearly 100 ninjas, the village had declined during the peace era as the role of ninjas faded. Pokémon Trainers began replacing ninjas in completing tasks more efficiently, and the village, located in the harsh environment of the Land of Snow, faced famine.
After 38 years, only 500 households and a mere 20-30 ninjas remained. Relocating the village to Pokémon Island served as a "poverty alleviation" initiative.
The village retained its original name: Canaan Village.
2. Training New Apprentices
Dak's second focus was training potential successors for the Alliance Leader position.
In mid-July, on the day second-semester final exam results were announced, Garp and Zephyr brought two children to Dak, insisting he take them as apprentices.
The two students tied for last place in theoretical scores at the Pokémon Academy:
Monkey D. Luffy
Uzumaki Naruto
Dak was skeptical of Garp and Zephyr's motives. It seemed improbable for students ranked last to be considered for apprenticeship.
However, the two old men had a valid reason, rooted in events three weeks prior during SAO's first-floor raid preparations.
July 10th: Windmill Village, Mount Corvo
On the grassy slopes of Mount Corvo, Garp, Might Duy, Might Guy, the Monkey family, Lee, and Neji had gathered for training.
"Guy, since you have Aura, you should be able to sense this 'energy' within you," Garp said, raising a near-blackened fist.
Might Guy closed his eyes and activated Aura, focusing inward. Sure enough, he felt an energy flow distinct from chakra.
"That's Haki," Garp confirmed, nodding in approval.
Despite training Haki for less than a month, Guy had already awakened it, a testament to his exceptional talent.
"I can't feel anything!" Duy admitted, looking puzzled.
"That's because you lack Aura, which makes self-perception impossible. Without specialized training, it can take years to sense Haki, even if it exists within you," Garp explained.
While Duy remained undeterred, Garp privately noted that age and mindset could slow Haki development. Compared to Guy's youthful vigor, Duy appeared slightly more "steady."
Nearby, Luffy suddenly cried out, "Something's moving in my stomach! It's gonna come out!"
"What? You need the bathroom?" Ace frowned.
Ignoring him, Luffy's cries grew louder as Hinata, activating her Byakugan, anxiously circled him but saw nothing unusual.
"Woof!"
Riolu, standing beside Guy, approached Luffy and placed its paws on his stomach, kneading gently.
"Luffy's glowing!" Naruto exclaimed as blue light began radiating from Luffy's body.
"Wait a second... doesn't that look familiar?" Sabo muttered, prompting everyone to glance at Guy, who was practicing Aura manipulation nearby.
The Next Day: Field Trip to the Safari Zone
During a school field trip, students quickly bonded with wild Pokémon, even playing games like hide-and-seek.
"Don't wander too far!" a teacher called out, sighing as the children ran off.
Naruto, however, sprinted ahead recklessly, leaving Vulpix trailing behind.
Thud!
Naruto collided headfirst with a massive dark-green boulder and fell back, clutching the lump on his head.
Rumble.
The "boulder" moved, revealing itself to be a groggy Tyranitar.
Annoyed at the disturbance, Tyranitar roared, more to intimidate than harm.
Naruto, frozen with fear, watched the towering Pokémon loom over him.
Suddenly, a sandy-yellow glow enveloped Naruto. The ground beneath him rose, forming a protective mound.
Startled, Tyranitar clawed away the mound, revealing a dazed Naruto.
Back to the Present
Having reviewed these events, Dak understood what had occurred.
Luffy had awakened Aura, akin to Guy's ability.
Naruto's case seemed connected to the Ground-type element. Dak deduced that Naruto had awakened Earth Power, unrelated to Tyranitar but likely triggered by the encounter.
