Pokemon: Ghostbound

Chapter 86: Fierce Battle

"Roar!"

Charizard let out a mighty roar as it launched itself into another Dragon Rush attack.

Opposing it stood Machamp, its eyes blazing with fury. Undeterred by the incoming assault, it braced itself for the collision. The muscles in its arms swelled, each motion rippling with raw power as it unleashed a devastating Dynamic Punch.

The two attacks collided with earth-shaking force. For the first time, Charizard found its Dragon Rush evenly matched by a Pokémon of similar strength. Even with the boost from its earlier Swords Dance, Machamp's sheer resilience and precision left the dragon momentarily stunned.

Charizard wasn't the only one feeling the impact. Machamp's arms quivered slightly as it shook off the numbing effects of the exchange.

"Charizard! Use Flamethrower, full power!" Tyson commanded, his voice sharp and decisive.

Responding immediately, Charizard reared back, flames swirling within its maw before erupting in a massive inferno. The fire shaped itself into a blazing kanji, hurtling toward Machamp.

But Machamp wasn't going down easily. With a mighty stomp, it launched itself forward, delivering a bone-crushing High Jump Kick that tore through the flames and reached Charizard.

"Charizard, retreat and ascend!" Tyson ordered, anticipating Machamp's retaliation. "Kadabra, keep me covered!"

Acknowledging its trainer, Charizard soared into the sky, flames trailing from its tail. Meanwhile, Kadabra teleported Tyson a safe distance away, its spoon glowing faintly as it maintained a psychic shield around its trainer.

Down below, Machamp paused its pursuit. Turning its focus to Charizard, it clenched its fists, preparing another strike.

Tyson observed the battlefield, carefully analyzing the opponent's tactics. "Charizard, use Flare Blitz, then follow up with Dragon Claw!"

With an earth-shattering roar, Charizard dived toward Machamp, its entire body engulfed in fiery energy. The air around it warped from the heat as it approached its target.

Machamp, unfazed, countered with a perfectly-timed Close Combat, its fists moving with blinding speed as it met Charizard head-on. The collision left shockwaves rippling through the forest.

Watching from the sidelines, Tyson released Primeape from its Poké Ball. "Primeape, watch closely. This is what it means to master combat against powerful opponents."

Primeape's eyes sparkled with determination as it observed the fierce battle. Each movement of Machamp's punches and Charizard's counters fueled its resolve. Someday, it vowed, its punches would hold such overwhelming force.

Tyson smiled faintly. "Your goal isn't to master brute strength like Machamp. What you'll perfect is Outrage, a skill that turns anger into unmatched power."

Back on the battlefield, Charizard, though battered, was relentless. With flames roaring around it, it unleashed another powerful Flamethrower.

But Machamp wasn't just strong—it was clever. Tyson could see it learning Charizard's patterns mid-fight. Its next move—a precise Dynamic Punch—shattered the fiery attack and forced Charizard onto the defensive.

"Charizard, use Slash, target its core!" Tyson called out.

White energy coated Charizard's claws as it slashed toward Machamp's chest. The attack forced Machamp to step back momentarily, giving Charizard a brief reprieve.

Tyson frowned. Charizard's Swords Dance boost had expired, and its Blaze ability, though triggered by its low stamina, was barely helping it keep pace. Machamp, with its Guts ability activated, seemed to only grow stronger with each passing moment.

"Charizard, this is your last push. Use Dragon Claw, then retreat if it fails!" Tyson shouted.

Summoning all its remaining strength, Charizard charged forward. Its claws glowed with draconic energy as it lunged at Machamp, who countered with a thunderous Heavy Slam.

The impact was immense, and Charizard was thrown back. Breathing heavily, it struggled to remain standing, its flames flickering weakly.

At that moment, Machamp prepared to deliver the finishing blow—a devastating Dynamic Punch aimed straight at Charizard.

Before the strike could land, Tyson raised a Poké Ball. A beam of red light enveloped Machamp, recalling it mid-motion.

"That's enough, Charizard," Tyson said gently as he approached. "You've done well. Let's call it a day."

Charizard grunted, acknowledging its trainer's words. Its pride wouldn't let it admit defeat, but it knew Tyson was right.

After feeding Charizard some energy cubes and using a potion to treat its wounds, Tyson recalled it into its Poké Ball.

Turning toward the Kuro and Thomas, Tyson smirked. "Now then, let's have a little chat."
