024 Quadruple Restraint, Victory in the First Battle

"Come out, Geodude!"

Liu Qin tossed his Poké Ball, and with a flash of light, a Geodude materialized on the battlefield. Its rocky body glistened under the arena lights, but there was a faint tension in its stance.

At the same time, detailed battle data popped up in Qin Yun's mind, a result of his extensive study of Pokémon battle mechanics.

"The match format is three-on-three," he mused. "This is a good opportunity for Fomantis to gain real battle experience. Even if it loses, it will be valuable training."

He made his decision.

"Come out, Fomantis."

A burst of light revealed a purple-colored Fomantis, its delicate leaf-like blades gleaming under the stadium lights. The audience gasped.

Only 2 were Shiny.

The camera drones in the stadium immediately zoomed in, broadcasting a 10-second close-up of the rare Fomantis on the big screens.

But luck alone wouldn't determine the winner of this match.

"The battle begins!" the referee announced.

Liu Qin took the initiative.

"Geodude, use Defense Curl!"

Geodude immediately tucked in its limbs, its rocky shell growing more compact. This move did two things:

1. It increased Geodude's Defense by 50%, making it even harder to take down.

2. It doubled the power of Rollout if used afterward.

Qin Yun, however, wasn't worried. Grass-type moves had a natural advantage against Geodude.

"Fomantis, use Leafage!"

A storm of razor-sharp leaves shot toward Geodude.

Liu Qin's eyes widened.

"Geodude, dodge with Rollout!"

Geodude quickly tucked into a ball and rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack. Liu Qin smirked his Geodude had practiced this evasion tactic extensively.

But Qin Yun remained calm.

"Fomantis, Leafage again. Keep attacking!"

Another flurry of leaves flew at Geodude, forcing Liu Qin to stay on the defensive.

The pressure was mounting. If this continued, Geodude would be forced into a corner. Liu Qin gritted his teeth.

"I won't let it end like this! Geodude, counter with Rock Throw!"

Geodude picked up a chunk of debris and hurled it at Fomantis.

Qin Yun smirked.

"You're underestimating my Fomantis."

"Take it head-on!"

The audience gasped was Qin Yun crazy? Why wasn't he dodging?

Fomantis flinched slightly but didn't retreat. Rock moves were only half as effective against Grass-types. The attack barely left a scratch.

Liu Qin paled. His strategy of disrupting Qin Yun's rhythm had failed.

Qin Yun seized the moment.

"Fomantis, Leafage finish it!"

The storm of leaves struck Geodude dead-on.

Quadruple weakness activated!

Grass was already super effective against Rock and Ground, and with Fomantis' same-type attack bonus (STAB), the damage multiplied to an overwhelming 240 power.

The impact sent Geodude flying. It landed with a heavy thud, completely unconscious.

The referee raised his flag.

"Geodude is unable to battle! Fomantis wins!"

The crowd erupted in cheers.

Liu Qin stood frozen, unable to believe it. His trump card had been taken down without landing a single meaningful hit.

Qin Yun exhaled, a satisfied smile on his face.

"This feeling… it's even better than I imagined."
