Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 11: Chapter 10: Shun’s Red Destiny

The next morning, Ryuu slung his backpack over his shoulder and stepped out of the house.

Even though he had over a month of vacation, he wasn't planning on traveling anytime soon.

A lot of rookie Trainers rushed into the wild as soon as they got their first Pokémon, thinking they were unstoppable—

Only to get absolutely wrecked by wild Pokémon.

It was a dangerous world out there.

Wild Pokémon weren't domesticated like those raised in labs.

A single swarm of Beedrill or an angry Arbok wouldn't hesitate to attack a human.

And every year, there were Trainers who didn't make it back.

Becoming a Pokémon Trainer was a high-risk profession.

So for now, Ryuu decided to stay in the city.

With an entire metropolis to explore, there were bound to be people with great Destiny threads.

And if he found any?

He'd steal their luck before they even realized what happened.

---

The streets were packed, filled with Trainers, merchants, and collectors.

This was the Trade Market, the city's largest Pokémon-related shopping district.

Poké Balls, healing items, Evolution Stones—

Even mysterious relics from ancient ruins were sold here.

The Pokémon world had only existed for about two centuries, and there were still countless items whose functions were unknown.

Some of them were valuable treasures.

Others?

Useless junk.

And in the darker corners of the market…

Some stalls even dealt in stolen goods—Pokémon, items, anything that had been looted from unlucky Trainers.

Ryuu didn't care about those.

He was only here for one thing—

Destiny.

---

As he walked, he activated the Eye of Data, scanning the threads of fate floating above the crowd.

Most people had White or Green Destiny, meaning they were completely average.

A few had Blue Destiny, which usually meant they'd find low-tier treasures or Pokémon with Gym Leader-level potential.

But none of that interested him.

He needed Purple, Red, or Gold Destiny—the kind that led to game-changing opportunities.

So far?

Nothing.

Ryuu sighed.

It seemed today wasn't his lucky day—

---

"Ryuu Fujiwara! What are you doing here? Looking for some rare finds?"

A loud, familiar, and incredibly annoying voice called out.

Ryuu already knew who it was before he turned around.

Watanabe Shun.

Again.

For some reason, this guy kept popping up in his life like an unwanted side quest.

Ryuu was about to ignore him completely, but then—

Something caught his eye.

A Red Destiny thread.

Floating right above Shun's head.

Ryuu's eyes widened slightly.

Again?!

Last time, this idiot had nearly scored an Elite-tier Froakie.

And now?

He had another Red-tier opportunity?!

For a split second, Ryuu had to question reality.

Was this guy the real protagonist?

An ugly, loud-mouthed protagonist?

Because getting two Red-tier fates in a row was insane luck.

But luck didn't matter.

Not when Ryuu was here to steal it.

Suppressing a smirk, Ryuu clicked on the Red Destiny thread—

---

[Watanabe Shun – Red Destiny]

Today, he will buy an antique stone statue, which contains the Essence of Water.

---

Ryuu's breath hitched.

Essence of Water.

That was an incredible treasure, second only to the legendary Mystic Water.

It could increase a Water-type Pokémon's strength and potential, making it stronger, faster, and more powerful overall.

For someone with a Froakie?

This was priceless.

Shun had no idea what he was about to find.

And he never would.

Because Ryuu was about to take it for himself.

---

"By the way, Shun," Ryuu said casually, putting on his best serious face, "I just saw your little buddy getting into trouble at the street corner."

Shun blinked.

"Wait, what? Who's messing with my guys?!"

He clenched his fists, looking furious.

"I don't know, but it looked bad," Ryuu shrugged. "Maybe you should go check."

Shun's face darkened.

"Damn it! Who dares mess with my people?!"

Without a second thought, Shun bolted toward the street corner, his lackeys following behind him.

Ryuu watched him go, then turned away without hesitation.

Like hell he was waiting for that guy.

With Shun out of the way—

It was time to steal his luck.

---

Following the Red Destiny thread, Ryuu soon arrived at a street stall.

The vendor had a collection of ancient artifacts—rusty coins, strange metal plates, and several stone statues of Pokémon.

Among them—

A Blastoise statue.

And above it?

The Red thread connected directly to it.

This is it.

---

The stall owner saw Ryuu eyeing the statue and immediately tried to hype it up.

"Ah, young man! You have a great eye! This is a rare artifact, possibly linked to ancient Pokémon mysteries!"

Ryuu didn't care about the sales pitch.

"How much?"

"500,000 PokéDollars."

Ryuu turned around without hesitation.

"Hey, hey, wait!" The vendor quickly grabbed his arm.

"Let's negotiate! How much would you pay?"

"10,000."

The vendor winced.

"10,000?! That's robbery!"

"It's a rock, dude. I can order one online."

The vendor sighed dramatically, but after a moment—

"Fine, fine! 10,000 it is!"

Ryuu smirked, handing over the cash.

Done.

The statue was his now.

---

With the statue in hand, Ryuu continued wandering the market, keeping an eye out for any other lucky fates.

Meanwhile—

Shun had finally realized he'd been tricked.

He stormed back toward the market, his lackeys trailing behind him.

"Boss… You think Fujiwara lied to us?"

Shun's eye twitched.

Now that he thought about it…

That bastard definitely lied to him.

"DAMN IT!"

He turned back toward the stall he'd planned to visit earlier—

Only to find that Ryuu was already gone.

And the Blastoise statue was missing.

Shun had no idea…

That he had just lost another game-changing opportunity.

Instead, all he could do was grit his teeth in frustration.

"Fine…!" he muttered under his breath.

"Let him have his little win. When Torchic evolves, I'll destroy him."

He clenched his fists.

"Just wait, Fujiwara…!"

---

Meanwhile, Ryuu smirked to himself as he walked away.

One more Red Destiny stolen.

And he had a feeling—

There would be plenty more to come.
