Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 21: Chapter 20: Returning Home—Father’s Excitement

Ryuu took a deep breath as he examined the Magnet Fragment in his hand.

Just in case there were more pieces nearby, he decided to dig a little deeper.

He grabbed his shovel, striking the ground over and over—but after several minutes…

Nothing.

Not even a sliver of another fragment.

"Tch. Looks like this is the only one."

Ryuu sighed, wiping the sweat off his forehead.

It would've been amazing if he had dug up a full Magnet, but this one fragment alone was already a huge find.

Not wanting to waste time, he turned to Frogadier.

"We're heading back."

Frogadier nodded, leaping up onto Ryuu's shoulder.

With that, Ryuu retraced his steps out of Wandering Falls—his mind already thinking about the next steps.

---

After catching a taxi home, Ryuu called ahead to let his family know he was coming back.

By the time he reached the gym entrance, the place was packed.

Trainers were battling fiercely, challenging the gym to earn a badge.

Aside from school tournaments, there were also national-level competitions—similar to the Pokémon League in the anime.

Ryuu himself was qualified to participate, but at his current level, he wouldn't stand a chance.

Most competitors were Gym-level trainers, having trained for years.

For an Elite-level trainer like him, it would be like delivering free wins to his opponents.

Not that it bothered him.

"I'll get there someday."

Ignoring the ongoing battles, he slipped past the crowd and entered the private quarters of the gym—his home.

---

The moment Ryuu stepped inside, he heard hurried footsteps.

"Ryuu, you're finally back!"

Before he could react, his mother, Sumire, rushed forward and pulled him into a tight hug.

It had only been a few days, but she was worried sick about him traveling alone.

Even though he had an Elite-level Venusaur for protection, the wild was unpredictable—

A single mistake, like getting poisoned by an Arbok, could have easily been fatal.

"Okay, okay, I'm fine," Ryuu grumbled, though he didn't push her away.

His mother's worry was understandable.

His father, Daiki, stood nearby—arms crossed, watching in silence.

Though he didn't say anything, Ryuu could tell he was relieved too.

"Alright, Sumire, let the kid breathe," Daiki finally said, shaking his head with a smirk.

Sumire let go, but not before patting Ryuu's head affectionately.

As they walked inside, Daiki raised an eyebrow.

"So? Did you get anything good from this 'special training trip' of yours?"

Sumire leaned forward, excited.

Ryuu smirked.

"Actually, yeah. I got something pretty amazing."

He reached into his bag and pulled out a small wooden box.

However, instead of opening it right away, he simply held onto it—staring at his father.

Daiki frowned.

"What's with that look?"

Ryuu's smirk widened.

"You'll see."

The anticipation built in the room.

Sumire glanced between them, sensing something big.

Finally, Ryuu spoke.

"I found a Magnet."

Silence.

For a moment, Daiki didn't react.

Then—

"…WHAT?!"

Daiki's entire body stiffened, his eyes widening in complete shock.

A Magnet.

A legendary Electric-type treasure that could boost power and enhance potential.

It was something he had been searching for his entire life.

Years of training, endless searching—yet he had never even seen one.

And now, his son—who had only been away for a few days—had found one?

Daiki almost dropped to his knees.

"Son… SHOW ME!"

His hands were visibly shaking as he reached for the box.

Sumire, who had been watching quietly, smiled knowingly.

She was happy for her husband, knowing how much this meant to him.

Before Daiki could snatch the box, Ryuu pulled it back slightly.

"Wait. There's… one thing."

Daiki blinked.

Ryuu sighed.

"It's just a fragment. Not a full Magnet."

Daiki froze.

The excitement in his face faltered for a second.

But then—

A moment later, he let out a deep breath and laughed.

"A fragment, huh?"

"Yeah."

For a second, Ryuu thought his father would be disappointed—but instead, Daiki smiled proudly.

"You think I'd complain about that?"

He shook his head.

"Even a fragment is more than I've ever gotten. This is already a huge deal."

Sumire nodded.

"Daiki, don't forget—Electivire has never had access to anything like this. Even a piece of a Magnet could make a difference."

Daiki chuckled, rubbing the back of his head.

"Yeah… you're right."

He turned back to Ryuu.

"Alright, kid. Open it up."

Ryuu finally opened the box.

Inside, resting atop a silk cloth, was a shard of Magnet.

It wasn't big, maybe about one-third the size of a normal Magnet.

But even this small piece radiated a faint electric energy—a testament to its true power.

Daiki reached out and picked it up carefully, as if holding a priceless treasure.

The moment he did—

BZZZZT!

A strong static charge crackled in the air.

From the back of the room, a deep, rumbling growl echoed.

The family turned—

Standing in the doorway was Electivire.

It had sensed the Magnet's energy and had come running.

Its yellow eyes locked onto the fragment in Daiki's hand.

For the first time in years, its body trembled with anticipation.

---

Daiki grinned.

"Looks like Electivire's interested."

Ryuu smirked.

"I'd be shocked if it wasn't."

Sumire rolled her eyes at the terrible dad joke, but she was smiling nonetheless.

The Magnet Fragment had been found.

Electivire was one step closer to breaking through its limits.

And Ryuu—

He was just getting started.
