Chapter 23: Chapter 22: Fujiwara Daiki Surprised by Bagon
"Ba... Bagon."
Fujiwara Daiki stammered, his voice uneven.
He hadn't expected Ryuu to return with a Bagon, a pseudo-legendary Pokémon with naturally high potential.
The moment it hatches, it's already ahead of most Pokémon. Its future potential? Far beyond ordinary species.
Fujiwara Sumire was just as stunned, momentarily speechless.
Ryuu had only gone out for a short time, yet in that span:
Froakie evolved into Frogadier.
He obtained a Magnet fragment.
And now, he had captured a Bagon?!
Normally, even getting a Bagon with Elite potential would be considered a huge win.
And if this Bagon turned out to have Champion potential?
It would be a Pokémon worth raising at any cost.
"Ryuu, you actually got a Bagon?! What's its potential? Did you test it?" Daiki asked excitedly.
If Bagon's potential was high, he would not hesitate to invest everything into training it.
Even if it required expensive Dragon-type resources, rare evolution catalysts, or Dragon-specific treasures—he would find a way.
Sumire nodded. "Yes, what's its talent like?"
If necessary, she would personally request the most powerful Dragon-type items from Ryuu's grandparents.
Ryuu smirked, pleased with their enthusiasm.
"It's not bad. It inherited Dragon Pulse and can also use Fire Fang. As for its potential... Elite level, possibly Champion."
He purposely left a bit of mystery, though he already knew the truth from his system's scan.
Their family had advanced Pokémon testing equipment, but even those had margin for error.
His system, however? 100% accuracy.
"An Elite-level Bagon... with a chance at Champion potential..."
Daiki froze for a second before his eyes gleamed.
"This changes everything!"
If Bagon had Elite potential, they could force a breakthrough to Champion with enough investment.
And if it was already Champion-level from the start?
Then all it needed was time, training, and resources.
This Pokémon could become the strongest in their family.
"I'll call your grandfather immediately!"
With that, Daiki rushed off.
His father—a quasi-champion trainer—had far more influence and resources than him.
Even though Daiki had Elite-level Pokémon, obtaining Dragon-type treasures was still difficult.
But with his father's backing?
They could secure whatever was needed.
Sumire was the same—she immediately called Ryuu's grandmother.
"Your grandparents will make sure you get what you need," she said confidently.
Ryuu felt genuinely lucky at this moment.
A powerful family, a champion-level Pokémon, and a system backing him up...
His path to the top was practically guaranteed.
---
That night, as Daiki kept staring at Bagon in awe, Sumire finally intervened.
"Daiki, it's getting late! Stop creeping out Bagon!"
Bagon, still new to everything, watched Daiki cautiously, its tiny fangs twitching—as if preparing to bite if necessary.
Reluctantly, Daiki backed off.
Ryuu laughed. "Bagon, you've got to work hard. The sooner you evolve, the sooner you can fly."
Bagon nodded firmly, its dream of soaring through the sky shining in its eyes.

The Next Morning
As soon as Ryuu walked downstairs, he spotted Shindou Aio sitting comfortably on the sofa.
She was chatting with Sumire like she had always belonged there.
"Aio? Why are you here so early?" Ryuu asked, slightly surprised.
Aio smiled, but before she could answer, Sumire grinned mischievously.
"Ryuu, don't you know?"
"When you weren't home, Aio came here every single day."
"She waited so eagerly for you to come back—she missed you that much!"
Aio's face turned bright red.
She lowered her head, gripping the hem of her dress, unable to meet Ryuu's gaze.
Although she did miss him, having it exposed so openly was beyond embarrassing.
Ryuu, caught off guard, simply sat down beside her.
"...So, Aio, what's up?"
Today, she looked especially well-dressed—probably on purpose.
Aio, still avoiding his eyes, finally spoke.
"Ryuu, I want to buy another Pokémon. Can you come with me?"
Her goal was to become a top-tier Breeder, so having multiple Pokémon to raise was essential.
Breeders didn't travel as much, but they still needed Pokémon for protection.
And since she had a wealthy family, she could afford to invest in strong Pokémon.
Ryuu nodded.
"No problem. I also want to check if there are any good Pokémon available."
His system's scan could instantly reveal Pokémon with Champion or Elite potential.
If he got lucky, he could buy an insanely rare Pokémon for cheap.
Aio's expression brightened.
"Then… let's go for breakfast first?"
She glanced at Sumire, as if secretly asking for permission.
Sumire and Daiki immediately exchanged knowing looks.
Then Sumire laughed.
"Oh, Ryuu, we didn't prepare breakfast today. You should take Aio out instead!"
Daiki grinned and tossed 1,000 yen onto the table.
"Here—breakfast money. Take your time."
Ryuu: "..."
Aio, still blushing, smiled softly.
"Let's go, Ryuu."
And with that, the two left together.
