"Ahem, Ash, you seem full of fighting spirit. Do you want to have a Pokémon duel with me?"

Satoshi smiled as he issued the challenge, but there was an unmistakable hint of coldness in his eyes.

He had come to a realization—in "Pokémon Generations," competing against these "protagonist" types with their incredible luck and preferential treatment was a surefire way to give yourself a heart attack.

Today alone, Satoshi had encountered three such characters, and each time left him fuming.

The first was Cynthia, whose Elite-potential Rattata suddenly turned into Champion potential. The second and third were Gary and Ash, both of whom had Champion-potential starter Pokémon and access to absurdly strong moves.

Gary's case was understandable since he actively trained and bred his Pokémon with effort. But Ash?

Bulbasaur knowing [Solar Beam] from the start? Was that a freebie?!

Although Satoshi smiled outwardly, he was determined to put Ash in his place.

Ash, meanwhile, felt an odd chill run down his spine as he met Satoshi's gaze. He couldn't explain why, but something about Satoshi felt a bit… scary.

"Even if it feels like you want to beat me up, I accept your challenge! I might lose, but I'll never back down. Let's battle!"

Despite his unease, Ash's fighting spirit burned bright. He was already planning to battle Satoshi, so this challenge fit perfectly with his intentions.

"However, your Charmeleon must be tired after that fight. Do you want to heal it first?"

Though Ash could be impulsive, he was highly attuned to Pokémon care and could tell Satoshi's Charmeleon had expended a lot of energy.

"I have another Pokémon. Your Bulbasaur must also be tired after its fight, and I heard you and Gary talking earlier—you have an Electric Pokémon too, right? I came here because I saw that lightning. Let's use our second Pokémon for this match," Satoshi replied, narrowing his eyes.

If his memory from his previous life served him right, Ash had at least three main Pokémon by now.

"An Electric Pokémon? Oh… yeah, I caught one recently. But it's a bit disobedient," Ash admitted sheepishly. "I'll try it out first. If it doesn't work, I'll switch to my third Pokémon."

The mention of disobedience surprised Satoshi. While it wasn't unheard of for Pokémon to disobey their Trainers, it was rare. What surprised him more was that Ash's Pikachu, the Pokémon known for its strong bond with him in the past, could be acting this way.

"Let's release them and see how it goes," Satoshi said, curious about the situation.

He recalled Charmeleon and took out another Poké Ball, tossing it lightly.

"Quack!"

Frogadier appeared in front of him, its petite body radiating a strong, confident aura.

Satoshi smirked. "Let's give Frogadier the Mystic Water we just got."

[Mystic Water]

Effect: Increases the power of Water-type moves by 30%.

Satoshi handed the Mystic Water to Frogadier, and it fused seamlessly with its body.

Ash, seeing Frogadier for the first time, quickly pulled out his Pokédex to scan it. As a beginner Trainer, he wasn't familiar with all Pokémon, especially those from the Kalos region.

"It looks really strong, but I won't lose! Go, Pikachu!"

Ash threw his Poké Ball, and out popped a cute electric mouse. However, Pikachu's impatient expression and crackling electricity suggested its disobedience.

Satoshi silently reviewed Pikachu's data, focusing on its Master potential, Light Ball, and access to Thunderbolt. He closed his Pokédex with an icy glint in his eyes, his determination solidified.

"I'm going to crush this thing."

"Quack!"

Frogadier seemed to sense Satoshi's resolve and let out a fierce cry, ready to fight with everything it had.

But as Satoshi and Frogadier prepared for battle, the other side couldn't have been more chaotic.

"Pika~~~ Qiuqiuqiu!"

"Ahhh, stop shocking me! Can't we just get along?!"

Pikachu chased Ash around the field, zapping him repeatedly with its electricity. Ash flailed helplessly, unable to calm his disobedient Pokémon.

Satoshi sighed, his earlier momentum completely disrupted.

"What am I even doing? Here I am, getting worked up about battling these two clowns."

Covering his face, Satoshi muttered to himself, "Why do I even bother?"
