Chapter 6: Chapter 6 A Bold Attempt to Link the Magical Network

Early morning, moonless night.

Harvey completed his daily meditation training, put the charged magic stone back into Reiner's small waist bag, and hung it on Reiner who was turning off his phone to rest.

Every moonless night is when the energy of death in the magic network is most abundant.

It is also the best time for Necromancer to practice meditation.

When Harvey first came into contact with the basic theoretical knowledge of spellcasters, he realized that all the so-called magic in this world.

In fact, it is a way for the caster to use specific inscriptions or spells to draw power from the invisible and ubiquitous magic web and cast it.

Harvey often imagined it as the Internet, and the spellcasters were the vast army of programmers who worked as cattle and horses in the online world.

The difference is that creating a spell is much more difficult than writing a program.

However, the Internet has only been around for a few decades in the past, but the Magic Web has existed since the Age of Dragons.

The various spells created by ancient spellcasters have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. To this day, no spellcaster dares to claim that he has learned them all.

And any spellcaster who creates a new spell will, without exception, be given the title of legend by the magic world.

Harvey flipped through his spell manual and found only a few first-level spells - corrosion, acid spray, and poison mist.

And the only second-level necromancy spell - elementary resurrection.

This is in line with his title of junior wizard. Apart from resurrection, other spells are of no help to his current research and business projects.

It is even inferior to the zero-ring spells called cantrips - Messenger Summoning and Mage's Hand.

Fortunately, Harvey still has the hidden halo of a time traveler, which is comparable to the protagonist's plug-in, giving him the opportunity to make up for his lack of achievements with ideas.

Finally, I managed to graduate from the School of the Undead.

A fluttering sound at the window interrupted Harvey's thoughts.

The messenger Night Owl arrived, bringing with him a thick stack of letters from his colleague at the academy and Harvey's investment sponsor, Ash Lambert.

"Dear Harvey, how are you doing recently? It has been a month since I last received your reply. Is your soap workshop going well?

I heard that the war in the Evil Moon Mountains is getting more intense, and the church has sent a large number of judges to support them. Those bodies used for the requiem mass are really wasted.

This time a copy of the Federation Bulletin is attached. Don't thank me. Although the bulletin was issued last month, it is better to be late than to know nothing at all.

I am curious, in addition to focusing on soap production, whether you have any other interesting inventions recently that you can share and discuss with me.

Your everlasting friend and staunch supporter, Ash Lambert."

Harvey shook his head and shredded the letter between his fingers.

This guy Ash doesn't care about his investment worth 1,000 gold pounds at all. He just spends all day asking about Harvey's weird inventions.

But he still had some conscience and knew to send him the Spellcaster's Bulletin published by the Federation.

Saint Valen is one of the few kingdoms on the continent that is not ruled by wizards and is a traditional duchy of a feudal lord.

Jackdaw Town is located in the mountainous area on the border of the Principality, and is five days away from the nearest wizard kingdom, Daeus.

It takes nearly two months to reach Alayeh, the sky region where the Spellcaster Union is located.

Fortunately, the wizards' letter-delivering night owls have the ability to travel through planes, so Alaye's letters will reach Harvey in about a week at most, but the prerequisite is that they will not encounter plane turbulence or lose their position during the journey.

Of course, when a spell courier is carrying too heavy items, the speed of its plane travel will be severely restricted. If the weight of the items being sent exceeds the limit, it may even directly cause the spell to fail.

Harvey flipped open the Federation Bulletin which was already one month out of date and sighed silently.

"It would be great if there was a technique or device that could receive messages instantly..."

Neither the expensive and difficult-to-maintain teleportation array nor the communication spell that required a high level of caster could satisfy Harvey's needs.

"Another bunch of war reports with no commercial value. The Federation's focus has indeed shifted to the war."

Harvey complained to himself as he flipped through the bulletin.

"Research on elemental cluster spellcasting. Hmm, these idiots are upgrading the power of their spell bombing again."

"The Alchemy Exploration Society protested against the high elves for raising the price of natural alchemy materials. Haha, the production raw materials are in the hands of others, and you dare to be so stubborn."

"The Ministry of Magic has reviewed and decided on the punishment of some necromancers who stole corpses from the cemetery without permission..."

As expected, the lack of corpse sources caused colleagues, who were already short of materials, to take risks.

Mages who study necromancy are a very small minority among the huge group of spellcasters.

However, due to various unwelcome experiences, these necromancers are scattered in remote and barren areas, making it difficult for them to unite.

The clubs formed during the Undead Academy period are often the only circles of magic exchange that the undead spellcaster can access in his life.

Harvey skimmed through the rest of the bulletin, most of which were about research topics that had absolutely no interest to him.

"Hey, research on the spell messenger's enhanced ability to travel through planes." Harvey's eyes narrowed as his attention was drawn to it.

The content of this research report is brief, occupying only a small corner of the last page of the communiqué, and only a magic matrix diagram is attached.

This was obviously information that was not taken seriously. After all, zero-ring magic had been studied thoroughly, and no one paid attention to it except for apprentice spellcasters.

But what Harvey was interested in was the content in the report that mentioned connecting the spell courier's spell matrix with the magic network and using the magic network's energy to accelerate the messenger's ability to travel through planes.

He pulled out a piece of white paper, summoned the wizard's hand, and used a feather pen to quickly simulate the spell matrix on the bulletin.

"So that's how it is. I've never thought about how the messenger can accurately locate the recipient."

Indeed, most spellcasters' understanding of zero-ring spells is limited to practicality. Some of them cannot even be called practical and are at most used for spellcasting practice during the apprenticeship stage.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6-9!

Just like the Mage's Hand, which is the release of magical energy with a distance limit, advanced spellcasters prefer to use the Hand of Manipulation which is more effective.

But the Messenger Call is different.

The caster needs to clearly lock onto the recipient's location in the magic net, so that the summoned spell messenger can accurately locate and deliver the letter.

The positioning magic patterns in the magic network often represent the real location of the recipient in the real world.

Harvey put down his pen, stared at the magic matrix drawn on the white paper, and fell into deep thought.

"If I use an instrument that can automatically cast spells, combined with the positioning magic patterns engraved on the instrument, and this accelerated spell matrix..."

"Can we create a magic messenger that can directly travel through the magic network and receive information instantly?"

Inspiration flashed through Harvey's mind like lightning. He stood up from his desk and ran downstairs to the laboratory.

"Master Harvey, what is this instrument used for? I don't know how to operate it!" Reiner was confused as he was urgently pulled to the laboratory while he was happily working.

Harvey clapped his hands excitedly and motioned for Reiner to sit in front of this simple instrument that looked like a typewriter.

"When I return to the study, you will be responsible for observing this instrument. No matter what it receives, you will immediately press the button on it to respond to the message."

Reiner carefully squatted in front of the instrument, not daring to sit down. He had already broken several chairs by sitting down.

"Sir, but, but I can't read!" This instrument looked very much like the metal typewriter he had seen in the town before. The densely packed keys looked twisted and unfamiliar like tadpoles.

Harvey held another identical machine and said with a smile, "It doesn't matter. You just need to press the buttons randomly and reply randomly."

After saying that, he went back to the study without looking back.

Reiner nodded obediently and continued to squat in front of the instrument, the soul fire in his skull eye sockets staring at the front as if frozen.

I was afraid of missing any reaction and delaying the adults' experiment.

It wasn't long before Reiner noticed that the inscription engraved on the base of the instrument slowly lit up with a dim red light.

The closely arranged metal buttons on the instrument seemed to be tapped by a pair of ghostly hands. They were quickly pressed down and bounced back one by one, making pleasant popping sounds.

He immediately treated him as if he were facing a formidable enemy, and raised his metal arm with full concentration, hovering above the instrument, with his bony fingers spread out, ready for battle.

A piece of illusory paper slowly emerged from the roller at the top of the instrument, on which was drawn a simple smiley face made up of characters.

(^^)...

Considering that Reiner is illiterate, Harvey becomes playful and sends him greetings using the old-fashioned emoticons that he often used on the Internet in his previous life.

The next step is to wait for Reiner's reply and observe the time it takes to send and receive information.

As soon as the second hand of the pocket watch completed a circle, Harvey immediately sensed the energy fluctuations on the instrument.

After a series of rapid tapping sounds, a row of garbled text symbols instantly appeared on the reels.

Ah, oh, eh, uh, uh, uh, eh…
