Priest : Rise of Project Nyx

Chapter 4: Blood : Chapter Three

Kael's eyes blazed with an otherworldly energy as he drew out the daggers, their blades glowing in tandem with his gaze. The air around him seemed to ripple and distort, as if reality itself was bending to accommodate the sheer force of his presence.

The two hunters, Elara and the male, exchanged a wary glance, their faces set in determined lines. They readied themselves for the attack, their eyes fixed intently on Kael.

With a swift, economical motion, Kael threw one of the daggers towards the hunters. They dodged the attack with ease, but before they could even react, Kael had already closed the distance between them.

He appeared seemingly out of nowhere, the daggers flashing in the fading light as he kicked the hunters with precision and deadly force. The attack was relentless, Kael disappearing and reappearing in a blur of motion, his daggers biting deep into the hunters' defenses.

In a stunning display of agility and deception, Kael created afterimages of himself, shifting between the daggers with dizzying speed. The male hunter stumbled backward, his eyes wide with shock and pain, as Kael landed a fatal stab to his spine.

Elara's face twisted with rage and grief as she beheld her fallen comrade. With a swift, desperate motion, she threw a grenade at Kael, the bright flash of light illuminating the darkening forest.

As Kael stumbled backward, momentarily blinded by the flash, Elara seized the opportunity to strike. She delivered a precise, ruthless blow to the back of Kael's neck, sending him crashing to the ground, his body limp and unconscious.

Elara relaxed slightly, her chest heaving with exertion. But her respite was short-lived, as Kael's dagger suddenly appeared beside her, seemingly conjured out of thin air. Kael himself materialized an instant later, his eyes blazing with fury as he landed a kick to Elara's face, sending her flying across the clearing.

Elara's mask shattered on impact, revealing a visage twisted with rage and pain. She planted her feet firmly on the ground, her eyes blazing with a fierce determination. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as the two enemies faced off, their hatred and anger hanging like a palpable mist between them.

Elara and Kael collided in a frenzy of fists and feet, their blows crashing together with bone-jarring force. The air was electric with tension, their hatred and bloodlust hanging like a palpable mist between them.

Kael managed to disarm Elara, sending her sword flying across the clearing. But Elara refused to yield, using her agility and quick reflexes to disarm Kael in turn.

The two enemies stood facing each other, their chests heaving with exertion, their eyes blazing with a fierce determination. They charged once more, their fists flying in a deadly dance.

Kael unleashed a devastating combo, striking Elara's joint points with precision and deadliness. But Elara refused to back down, countering with a series of brutal punches that targeted Kael's most vital areas.

Kael coughed up blood, his eyes widening in pain, but Elara seemed almost unfazed, a small drip of blood trickling from her lips. Seizing the opportunity, she unleashed a flurry of blows, sending Kael crashing to his knees.

Elara stood over him, her eyes blazing with fury and hatred. "You should have never killed my friend," she spat, her voice venomous.

As she raised her foot to deliver the final blow, an arrow suddenly struck her in the knee, exploding in a blast of fire and shrapnel that sent her leg flying off. Elara's eyes widened in shock and agony as she lost her balance, crashing to the ground.

Kael took advantage of the reprieve, his fists blazing with crimson fire as he unleashed a merciless barrage of blows. Elara's body jerked and convulsed under the onslaught, her eyes frozen in a permanent scream.

Finally, Kael's hand closed around Elara's chest, his fingers digging deep into her flesh. His voice was low and menacing as he spoke the words of the Bible, his eyes blazing with an unholy fire.

"'Vengeance is mine, I will repay,' says the Lord." Kael's voice dripped with malice and contempt. "To me, this is nothing but Dominion."

With a twisted smile, Kael's hand seemed to tighten around Elara's chest, his fingers constricting like a vice. Elara's eyes bulged in terror as she felt her blood flow slowing, her heart faltering.

And then, in an instant, it was over. Elara's body went limp, her eyes frozen in a permanent stare. Kael's hand remained closed around her chest, his fingers still digging deep into her flesh, as if savoring the triumph of his victory.

Here's the rewritten version:

Kael withdrew his fingers from Elara's chest, and her lifeless body slumped to the ground, blood seeping from every pore. The air was heavy with the scent of death and violence.

Kael turned to Lyra, a nod of gratitude on his face. "Thanks for the assist," he said, his voice low and even.

Lyra's expression remained serene, her eyes gleaming with a hint of satisfaction. She nodded silently, her gaze flicking to Arin, who was still recovering from his injuries.

Kael walked over to Arin, offering him a hand up. Arin took it, his face pale and drawn, but a hint of a smile on his lips. "Thanks, Kael," he said, his voice weak but grateful.

As they walked back home, the sounds of snarling and growling filled the air. The Blood Hounds were keeping the Divine Hounds busy, ensuring their safe passage.

The three of them walked in silence, their footsteps quiet on the forest floor. The only sound was the distant howling of the hounds, a haunting melody that echoed through the trees.

A mysterious voice pierced the air, sending shivers down their spines. "The Hunters are evolving, finding new ways to combat the creatures of the Night. They seek to elevate themselves to the level of Priests."

The group exchanged bewildered glances, searching for the source of the voice. But there was no one in sight.

Kael's eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" he demanded, his voice firm.

The voice responded, "I am someone who wishes to help you, to give you purpose. You cannot stay here, in this burnt village, devoid of life."

Kael's gaze swept the surrounding area, his hand instinctively reaching for his dagger. "Why should we trust you?" he asked, his tone laced with skepticism.

The voice paused, before responding, "I knew your mother, Kael. I knew her secret, her love for a vampire, your father. A secret she kept hidden from the Priests."

As the voice finished speaking, a figure emerged from the shadows. She was a woman of breathtaking beauty, with snow-white hair and piercing silver eyes. Her figure was slender yet athletic, accentuated by the nun robes she wore, which seemed to be designed for both armor and combat.

The group stared, awestruck, as the woman approached them. Her presence was both captivating and intimidating, radiating an aura of quiet power and authority.

Zerah's eyes sparkled with warmth as she introduced herself. "I am Zerah," she said, her voice filled with conviction. "Your mother, Kael, was more than just a friend to me. We were sisters, bound by a bond that went beyond mere mortal ties."

Kael's gaze locked onto Zerah's, his eyes searching for any sign of deception. But all he saw was a deep sincerity and a sense of responsibility.

Zerah's expression turned grim, her jaw setting in determination. "I promise you, Kael, that I will help you find a new home, and I will stand by your side as we take revenge on the Hunters responsible for this slaughter. The masters of the Helsing Hunters Academy will pay for their cruelty."

Arin and Lyra nodded in agreement, their faces set with a fierce determination.

Zerah's eyes seemed to gaze into the past, her voice taking on a nostalgic tone. "You see, Kael, it was prophesied that a child of both worlds would be born, blessed by the Heavens and feared by Darkness. A child who would help eradicate the darkness that plagues our world and liberate humanity from its grasp."

Kael's eyes widened, his mind reeling with the implications.

Zerah's gaze snapped back to the present, her eyes locking onto Kael's. "I knew it was you, Kael. Your mother was a powerful Priestess, a prodigy who had dedicated her life to the service of the Lord. But she met your father during a time of war, and he saved her life. She returned the favor, and later, they fell in love. Their relationship was forbidden, but they didn't care. They loved each other, and that love produced you, Kael."

Kael's eyes seemed to glaze over, his mind struggling to process the revelation. He was the product of a forbidden love, a love that had defied the conventions of the world. And now, he was destined to play a crucial role in the battle between light and darkness.

Zerah's expression turned somber, her eyes clouding with a hint of sadness. "It is forbidden for members of both sides to fall in love, Kael. Your parents were hunted down because of their relationship, but they were no ordinary individuals. Your mother was blessed by the Heavenly Father himself, granting her immense angelic powers. She was a true warrior of the Lord."

Zerah's gaze seemed to bore into Kael's soul, her voice taking on a tone of reverence. "And your father, Kael... he was a direct descendant of Dracula, the origin of all vampires. His bloodline granted him abilities beyond those of other vampires."

Kael's eyes widened, his mind reeling with the implications. He was the product of two powerful lineages, one blessed by the divine and the other cursed by the darkness.

Zerah's expression turned grim, her voice laced with a hint of warning. "It seems that your parents' efforts to keep you hidden were ultimately unsuccessful. The Hunters have been searching for you, Kael, and it's clear that they're willing to go to great lengths to capture you."

Kael's eyes narrowed, his jaw setting in determination. "Why do they want me?" he asked, his voice firm.

Zerah's gaze seemed to bore into Kael's soul, her voice taking on a tone of awe. "They want to see if they can replicate your unique abilities, Kael. You're not only a direct descendant of Dracula, but you're also blessed by the Heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit combined. This has never been seen in all the centuries, Kael. You're a true anomaly, a being of both light and darkness."

Kael's eyes widened, his mind reeling with the implications. He was a being of immense power, a power that could potentially change the course of human history.

Zerah's expression turned grave, her eyes clouding with a hint of concern. "Creatures and beings of the Night seek you out, Kael, and the Priests are also searching for you. The prophecy speaks of two paths for you: one of light, and one of darkness. If you are led down the path of darkness, it is said that you may bring about the downfall of humanity."

Kael's eyes widened, the weight of the prophecy settling heavy on his shoulders.

Zerah's gaze locked onto Kael's, her eyes burning with determination. "I am here to prevent that from happening, Kael. I promised your mother that I would look after you, protect you from those who would seek to exploit your powers for their own gain. She knew that eventually, you would be found, or that someone would betray your location. But I am here now, and I will not let anyone harm you."

Zerah's words were laced with a deep conviction, a sense of duty and loyalty that seemed unshakeable. Kael felt a sense of gratitude towards her, mixed with a sense of trepidation. He knew that he was caught in a web of prophecy and destiny, and that the choices he made would have far-reaching consequences.

Zerah's voice cut through the silence, her words filled with a sense of urgency. "Let's gather our belongings, we'll be traveling back to Priest Academy to help you sort things out and keep you safe, Kael."

Kael nodded, his mind racing with the implications of their situation. Arin and Lyra began to gather their gear, their movements swift and efficient.

Zerah's gaze swept over the group, her eyes serious. "You and your friends have killed several Hunters, including two high-ranking members. They'll surely send reinforcements to investigate the situation and search for you."

Moments later, everyone was done packing, and the Blood Hounds were ready for travel. The group paused, looking back at the village one last time. Zerah's eyes clouded with a hint of sadness as she gazed at the village, knowing it wasn't easy for them to leave their home behind.

With a soft sigh, Zerah turned away from the village, her gaze locking onto the path ahead. The group mounted their steeds, Lyra and Tera riding together as sisters, while Arin rode with his little brother. Kael rode alone on his Blood Hound, his eyes fixed on the horizon.

Zerah, meanwhile, rode a majestic Imperial White Horse, its coat gleaming like polished marble, its golden hair and eyes shining like the sun. With a gentle urging, the horse began to move, its hooves pounding out a rhythmic beat as the group rode off into the unknown.

A new journey lay before Kael and his friends, one filled with danger, uncertainty, and possibility. With Zerah leading the way, they rode off into the horizon, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
