Chapter 652: Standing up his love

The Spider-Man in the video was clearly struggling. Having just faced a crushing blow—his suit confiscated by Tony—he found himself hit again by doubts. Could this inexperienced Peter withstand the pressure?

At least, during the car ride and confrontation with Adrian Toomes, Peter appeared to submit, showing a moment of weakness.

Inside the Eternal Space, Peter himself wasn't confident. He opened his mouth to speak but didn't know what to say.

Instead, Stephen and Pietro spoke in unison: "The answer is B!"

Peter was touched by their encouragement, his eyes turning red. He hesitated and said, "Maybe we should think it through a bit more? We got the last question wrong… I really don't want to disappoint everyone."

"Hey, kid. Don't tell me this little setback is enough to knock you down?"

Stephen, with a stern face, deliberately provoked him, "Listen. If you can't handle this, that would be truly disappointing! Not only would you let down everyone here, but you'd also shame the Spider-Man name and the other versions of you from parallel universes."

Pietro chimed in, "Peter, don't sell yourself short. We've all seen your determination to save people and uphold justice. That's what really matters. Understand?"

Under their encouragement, Peter regained his confidence and decided to choose B.

Erik, however, believed the answer should be A. Based on the earlier questions and the video showing Spider-Man's failures, Erik had lost faith in him and thought the kid was incapable of achieving greatness.

But Charles disagreed, his expression serious. "Erik, you're underestimating Peter Parker's potential. His mistakes pale in comparison to his convictions. Trust me on this. This question should be answered with B!"

Erik gave him a long look, then shrugged. "Fine. I'll go with you. You're the expert on this, after all." He was teasing Charles about his future role as a headmaster for gifted youngsters, someone who understood teenagers like Peter well.

The countdown to answering began. Both teams eagerly pressed their buzzers, confident in their choices. This time, Team A got the first chance.

When the countdown ended, the correct answer was revealed: it was indeed B. Both teams got it right, with Team A earning 4 points and Team B gaining 1 point.

Peter, who had been on edge since the beginning, finally breathed a sigh of relief. He was genuinely worried that his future self might fall into despair. Fortunately, the worst hadn't happened.

The light screen then played another future video. This time, the scene was a lively dance party. Groups of young men and women mingled, pairing up in couples. The atmosphere was vibrant, full of the unmistakable air of youthful romance.

If everything had gone smoothly, this would have been the night Peter found love. However, at that moment, he looked conflicted, burdened by heavy thoughts.

Liz, the goddess of his heart, stood in the distance, beautifully dressed, smiling as she waited for Peter to dance with her.

But after hesitating for a long while, Peter finally approached her, took a deep breath, and said decisively, "I have to go… I'm sorry. I shouldn't be doing this to you."

Faced with a choice between love and fighting crime, Peter once again chose the latter—just as his predecessors had. This seemed to be the inevitable fate of every Spider-Man.

After standing up his love, Peter didn't hesitate anymore. He ran out of the venue, retrieving the makeshift suit he had hidden earlier.

Of course, this suit wasn't the high-tech masterpiece crafted by Tony Stark. It was a simple, self-modified hoodie with a crude, somewhat ridiculous mask.

It was clear that this Spider-Man still lagged behind his predecessors in costume-making skills.

But before he could get far, Peter was ambushed and punched hard to the ground!

It turned out that Adrian was cunning and had made backup plans. While appearing to placate Peter, he had stationed a capable henchman outside to guard against trouble.

This henchman is skilled in combat and equipped with a high-tech enhanced glove, delivered a punch powerful enough to send a large school bus flying like a toy.

If not for Peter's superhuman physique, an ordinary person would've been left spitting out their internal organs after taking those blows.

Even so, Peter didn't fare well. He was knocked down immediately, his web-shooter disarmed, and he found himself retreating in defeat with no chance to fight back.

Watching this, Stephen joked, "Looks like Spider-Man 1 has it easier. He doesn't even need web-shooters."

Peter nodded in agreement, his face full of envy. He had watched the videos of the first Spider-Man (Tobey's version) multiple times.

His idols were Tony Stark, with his cool MK suits, and the Tobey Spider-Man.

Admiring yourself from another universe was a bit odd, but Peter was captivated by Tobey's calm, steady demeanor and the natural web-shooting ability from his wrists.

As someone who talked a lot and was often impulsive, Peter admired the maturity and restraint of the older Spider-Man, qualities he felt complemented his own personality.

This was similar to why Andrew's Spider-Man admired Charles in the previous round of the quiz game.

In the video, Spider-Man was struggling, beaten badly. Just as things seemed hopeless, his friend Ned stepped up. Picking up the fallen web-shooter, he used it to fire webs at the henchman's enhanced glove.

This gave Spider-Man an opening. Once he retrieved the web-shooter, he quickly subdued his opponent.

Peter wasted no time. He asked Ned to help him track Toomes' location and called Happy to inform him of the Vulture's true identity before chasing after him.

It turned out that Peter had left his phone in Toomes' car earlier. With Ned's hacking skills, they could trace Toomes' exact whereabouts using the phone.

It was clear that Peter had made up his mind back in the car and was only pretending to negotiate with the Vulture.

The two friends split up. Peter borrowed a classmate's car and, with Ned's help, tracked Toomes' movements. The pursuit was on.
