Rebirth as a Time Dragon

Chapter 505: Chapter 505: The Just Beating

The eleven high gods were confirmed.

Under the silent gaze of the gods, the Nine-faced Dragon God looked around and calmly said, "Everyone, if you have any objections to the selection of the high gods, you may raise them now."

Naturally, the medium and weak gods had no objections.

Only the strong gods were qualified to be high gods in the Pantheon.

As for the strong gods who were not selected, they felt some dissatisfaction. They understood that the Pantheon, centered around the Dragon God faction, would likely become a colossal force respected by all gods in the future. Even if it were to decline, it would be after a long time.

The position of the High Council, the highest decision-making body of the Pantheon, would hold immeasurable importance in the future.

However, dissatisfaction aside, even the strong gods would not openly challenge the Dragon God's decision at such an occasion. The first opening of the Pantheon, with the Dragon God's decisive selection of all high gods, made it unwise to openly defy him. Although the Nine-faced Dragon God usually appeared gentle and rational, he could be decisive and forceful when needed.

At this moment, a deity thought for a moment, then faced the Nine-faced Dragon God and asked, "Your Excellency Aeon, are the seats of the High Council permanent?"

The Nine-faced Dragon God replied, "Firstly, if a high god commits a major mistake, their qualification will be revoked, and I will personally promote a new replacement."

"Secondly, any strong god can apply to become a high god. If they can gain the majority approval of the High Council, a new seat will be added."

Majority approval.

The High Council was established around the Dragon God.

Crucially, the Nine-faced Dragon God, as the lord of the Pantheon and the chairman of the High Council, could amend the rules and held the final interpretation.

Clearly, to become a high god, one must gain the Dragon God faction's approval; otherwise, it would be impossible to succeed.

This was a method to consolidate the dragon's hegemony.

When the gods needed to rally around the Dragon God for benefits, it would subtly change their mindset, gradually leading them to respect the Dragon God, not just fear his power, but genuinely follow his orders.

Before the Dragonfall War, the dragon's hegemony relied primarily on suppression and intimidation.

The result was the overthrow of the dragon's dominant position.

History had shown that sheer intimidation was unreliable and would eventually provoke severe resistance.

Possessing great power while also using benefits as a binding force was a better approach.

After some time, the gods had a good understanding of the Pantheon and the High Council.

What excited many weak gods the most was that if they made significant enough contributions and received the High Council's approval, they could be promoted to medium gods! For those weak gods who had stagnated for hundreds of thousands of years without progress, this was a huge incentive.

The same applied to medium gods, who had the opportunity to be promoted to strong gods.

However, the prerequisite was extremely harsh, roughly equivalent to accomplishing tasks that only a strong god could, such as saving an entire plane.

While gods promoted collectively could easily lose their power, for those who had reached their limits and couldn't advance, it was still worth attempting.

Weak and medium gods could seek breakthroughs in the Pantheon.

Strong gods could vie for high god seats.

For an organization, even one of gods, the members' motivation was essential for good development. Therefore, the Pantheon provided goals for the gods to pursue.

Once the situation was clear.

The Nine-faced Dragon God began to discuss the main matter.

His gaze fell upon the gods, and he slowly said, "Everyone should already be aware of the resurgence of the primordial gods."

"Since my resurrection, their activities in various planes have become increasingly frequent, to the point of directly challenging us gods."

"The Lord of Terror even dared to appear openly before us. It seems the dormant primordial gods have amassed enough power."

In reality, saying the primordial gods had amassed enough power wasn't entirely accurate.

This was primarily to make the gods more vigilant.

For the primordial gods, once the gods became aware of their existence and started to be cautious, hiding was no longer meaningful. It was better to execute their plans quickly, without worrying about concealment.

"The Dragon God faction established the Pantheon to better organize the gods and deal with multiverse-level catastrophes like the primordial gods."

"The primordial gods are the first challenge the Pantheon faces after its establishment."

"I believe they won't be the last. The multiverse has never truly been at peace, with endless hidden threats."

"But no matter what future threats may arise, as long as the Dragon God faction exists, as long as the Pantheon stands, the gods' rule will not be overturned."

The Nine-faced Dragon God's voice paused, and he squinted his eyes, saying, "In the Dawn War, I once defeated the primordial gods. Unfortunately, I fell in the darkness before dawn and could not share the joy of victory with the gods."

"This time, as the primordial gods return, I will not repeat my mistakes. Once we purge the primordial gods, we will celebrate together."

Then, at the Nine-faced Dragon God's suggestion, the gods began to discuss how to deal with the primordial gods.

Since the gods were already aware of the primordial gods' return and their intention to overthrow the gods, there was a sense of urgency, leading to enthusiastic participation in the discussion.

"The demon lord residing in the Shadow Sea of the Abyss, the highly intelligent deep-sea ancient god Dagon, has been identified as the leader behind the revival of the primordial gods."

"How about we all descend upon the Abyss together and eliminate the deep-sea ancient god first, making the primordial gods leaderless?"

One of the high gods, the orc god Gruumsh, who advocated for strength and violence, suggested.

The Elf Lord immediately countered, "The Abyss is chaotic, with demon lords viewing gods as enemies. If we descend in large numbers, we will face not only the primordial gods but also numerous unpredictable demon lords."

"Gruumsh, no matter how strong you are, how many demon lords can you handle in the Abyss?"

During the War of Glory, the gods, including the orc god, had ambushed the Elf Lord.

The orc god and the Elf Lord had a significant enmity, often depicted in mythological records as brothers born simultaneously but with vastly different appearances and philosophies. Their conflicts led to them becoming arch-enemies.

However, the Elf Lord's counter wasn't solely targeting the orc god; it had valid reasoning.

Outside the Abyss, in the gods' domain, demon lords couldn't cause much trouble.

But if the gods descended into the Abyss, unless they were evil gods native to the Abyss, the situation would be different.

The Abyss suppressed the gods' powers while boosting the demon lords'. Given the advantage-disadvantage shift, rashly entering the Abyss was highly dangerous.

Especially now, with the Abyss in a state of fierce conflict, being caught in the vortex of the struggle for dominion would be disastrous.

"The primordial gods likely have infiltrated various planes."

"I think we should concentrate our forces and cleanse them plane by plane, squeezing the primordial gods' space."

"If the primordial gods are forced to retreat en masse into the Abyss, they will naturally clash with the demons, wearing each other down."

The Dawn Lord Lathander suggested.

The God of Light's eyes flickered, and he said, "Beastlands, Mechanus, Mount Celestia, the Heroic Domain."

"If we can get the cooperation of the kings of these planes, it should not be difficult to identify the primordial gods' traces."

The embodiment of plane will, the carrier, or the chosen representative were collectively referred to as the Plane Kings. Not all planes had Plane Kings, but their numbers were not few, and their strengths varied.

The Beastlord of Beastlands.

The Primus of Mechanus.

The Seraph of Mount Celestia.

As for the Heroic Domain, it was Garon, the Lord of Heroes.

Apart from Garon, who was only of quasi-medium god power, the other three were quasi-strong gods, with the Primus and the Seraph being extremely formidable, capable of immense power within their planes.

Looking at Garon, the God of Light smiled slightly and said, "The Lord of Heroes can try later to focus his mind, mobilize the entire plane's power, and scrutinize every inch of the Heroic Domain. If there are primordial gods hiding here, they shouldn't escape your detection."

Garon nodded lightly and said, "After the Pantheon meeting, I will try."

It wasn't feasible now with too many gods gathered in the Heroic Domain, causing significant interference. If there were primordial gods hiding here, they would be doing everything to conceal themselves, not daring to make a move.

Meanwhile.

The Immortal Dragon Queen's five heads swayed, her eyes narrowing as she said, "Speaking of Plane Kings, there is a primordial god claiming to be one, who has been active all along."

The War God Tempus pondered, "The Dragon Queen is referring to Igor, the Slaad Lord of the Sea of Chaos?"

The Immortal Dragon Queen nodded and said, "Indeed. This ancient primordial god has been active in the Sea of Chaos since ancient times."

The Sea of Chaos was a plane of unrestrained chaos, where randomness replaced predictability. It was the most chaotic plane, with chaos filling every inch of space. It was also the opposing plane to Mechanus, representing ultimate order, with countless invasions between the two planes.

"The Sea of Chaos has four known Slaad Lords, including Igor, who are all primordial gods."

Slaad, a highly renowned and powerful species in the Sea of Chaos, resembled

giant toads and was the most common and primary intelligent species in the Sea of Chaos. They were the creations of the primordial gods. However, the primordial gods called Slaad Lords were unique in appearance, distinctly different from ordinary Slaad, despite being revered by them.

"We're not sure if they are content with their status or if they desire a return to the primordial era."

The enemies of the gods were not all primordial gods but those who sought to overthrow the gods and return the multiverse to the primordial era.

Facing some gods' doubts, the Immortal Dragon Queen said, "The Sea of Chaos is the closest plane to the primordial era. The four Slaad Lords have stayed in the Sea of Chaos, showing their attachment to the primordial era."

"Even if they are currently content, they could easily change their minds after contacting other primordial gods and become our enemies."

"They might have already contacted other primordial gods secretly."

The Immortal Dragon Queen's reasoning was sound.

Although it was speculation, given the current situation, the primordial gods were an intolerable threat to the gods. Even the slightest suspicion couldn't be ignored.

For the gods, any primordial god was a threat. It was better to be safe than sorry.

The Immortal Dragon Queen continued, "I agree with the Dawn Lord's idea to cleanse the primordial gods plane by plane. I propose starting with the Sea of Chaos, where we have confirmed the presence of four primordial gods."

At this point, the Just Dragon, Bahamut, said slowly, "If we are to confront the Slaad Lords and the hidden primordial gods in the Sea of Chaos, I can contact the Primus, and we should be able to gain his assistance."

"The Slaad Lords have ruled the Sea of Chaos for a long time. We must not be careless when attacking their domain."

Subsequently, the gods expressed their agreement with the Immortal Dragon Queen's proposal, deciding to target the Sea of Chaos first.

The Nine-faced Dragon God needed to guard against the Lord of Terror, an unmatched primordial god, to prevent a surprise attack. Thus, he couldn't act rashly.

Moreover, the gods still held the advantage. As long as they proceeded steadily, even if they couldn't quickly defeat the primordial gods, they could at least contain the threat, forcing them back into the dark corners of the world.

The four primordial gods, including the Sea of Chaos Plane King Igor, were formidable quasi-strong gods.

The remaining three were quasi-medium gods.

These four primordial gods were the easiest to locate due to their activity.

To ensure the first strike against the primordial gods was flawless, the Pantheon decided to send five deities of equivalent power against each primordial god. Additionally, other gods would be on standby to assist in concealing the invading deities' presence and to counter any hidden primordial gods in the Sea of Chaos.

The Metal Dragon God, the Flame Lord, the Elf Lord, the Wind Elemental Queen, and the God of Light.

These five would confront the strongest, the Sea of Chaos King.

These deities were among the elite strong gods. Even Aeon or the Supreme Emperor would struggle to defeat them easily without some cost. Despite being level twenty, they were still within the strong god power tier, without a vast chasm in power levels.

Entering the Sea of Chaos, in the domain of the Sea of Chaos King, these five deities could swiftly deal with the Sea of Chaos King through a just beating.

Garon was also one of the deities assigned to attack the primordial gods.

Garon, Bahamut, the God of Strength and Courage, the God of Slaughter, and the Dragon God of Destruction.

These five deities would confront the strongest of the remaining three quasi-medium primordial gods.

The last two primordial gods each had suitable deities assigned to deal with them.

Given the number and quality of the deities assigned by the Pantheon, even fighting in the Sea of Chaos on the enemy's turf, they were confident of success, barring any major surprises.

Gods had high execution capabilities.

After finalizing the plan, to avoid giving the primordial gods time to react, they immediately prepared to execute it.

This was the Pantheon's first formal action since its establishment and needed to be perfect to establish its reputation.

In the Pantheon, the gods blessed the deities about to invade the Sea of Chaos, granting them layers of divine protection to prevent the primordial gods from noticing their arrival.

With divine blessings, the silver dragon, shimmering with layers of barely visible divine light, narrowed his eyes, contemplating the primordial god he was about to face.

"The Mad Lord Sindar is said to possess the power to shatter order and induce chaotic madness."

"But as long as it's a quasi-medium god level primordial god, there shouldn't be a problem."

Garon thought silently.

Then, several portals to the Sea of Chaos opened silently.

Garon and the other deities entered one by one, disappearing from the Pantheon and heading to the Sea of Chaos.
