Chapter 239- Wait and watch
On the morning of the third day since Jullie arrived.
Alex was making some food, boiling vegetables, cooking meat, and making some tea on the side.
He carries every necessary utility with himself in the Inventory.
Not actually, but his current Soul energy was nearly bottomless so he has created more than four Inventories, in which he stores different things.
Since how much he could store in each inventory depends on his soul energy, he doesn't create too many, just categorizes each one of them. Like in one, dry food, in one wet food. In one basic thing like clothes, books, and other things. In one, he stores his swords, spears, and other weapons.
"Should I help you?" Jullie approached him from behind and looked inside the pot.
She doesn't generally get hungry, and naturally not for human food. However, looking at how much dedication he was putting in, she was surely going to eat it.
"It's almost done. Come sit here." He summoned a small stool and placed it beside him.
There was a campfire in the labyrinth which was keeping the floor illuminated.
Her charm seemed to have amplified, maybe because she had his blood just a few hours ago, or maybe it was the afterglow of having a 'good time.'
Alex couldn't keep his eyes off her.
Jullie smiled as she also turned to look at him, "You will overcook the food like this."
"I have a lot to spare...let me just look at you for now."
Jullie blushed, "You can flirt with such a straight face, huh?"
Alex shrugged, finally turning his head, "I just expose my honest thoughts. If it sounds like I am flirting, then punish me if you want."
Hearing the word 'punish' Jullie shivered slightly.
There was still a slight sensation in her nether region...and her legs were still quite soft.
"I didn't hurt you, right?" Alex asked, a bit hesitant.
Jullie nodded, "It was my first time, so I was a little overwhelmed, but it didn't hurt." Leaning her head on his shoulder, she added, "You were mindful and it touched my heart."
Alex smiled fondly at the woman and gave her a brief kiss.
Soon he finished cooking and served the food.
"Why four plates?" Jullie asked, unsure if they were expecting some guests.
And she was right, "Yeah, here he comes."
As he said, a familiar raven-haired dropped on the ground, while holding his girl in his arms.
"Ah, Professor. You are here."
Jullie smiled at the girl, "How are you, Amanda?"
Amanda grinned, "I am well, but it seems you haven't been sleeping well, lately."
Jullie blinked in surprise
Edric, meanwhile, headed toward Alex, looking into the pan, "Damn...you cooked stew."
Amanda approached the older woman before whispering, "The love marks are quite glaring, Professor." Saying so, Amanda pulled out a small mirror and showed Jullie the special makeup she had.
Jullie's eyes widened slightly...she thought they all disappeared, 'Did he give me one in the morning?' she never noticed.
Considering her students were around, Jullie felt quite embarrassed.
"I'll be back." She instantly hurried toward Alex and whispered something in his ear.
Alex nodded before he took out something from his ring and handed it to her.
Jullie took the wrapped-up clothes and makeup in her hands and headed towards the tent.
Amanda smilingly shook her head. She was quite happy for her teacher. At least she got with the one she loves. Rather than hiding her emotions, she went ahead and expressed them.
Sitting on the stool, which was previously acquired by Jullie, she told Alex, "While my sister is crying and barely eating there, you are enjoying your honeymoon here, huh?"
Alex smiled wryly, "I will make up things with her once we reunite." Plating the food he offered it to Amanda and asked, "Did she tell you anything to relay to me?"
"Hmm, she wrote this letter." Amanda handed him a folded paper which Alex took without a second of delay
"Talking about letters, I went to meet Celestria. She also handed me a letter." Edric threw the parchment in his direction which Alex instantly caught and thanked the duo.
"So, when are you planning to return to the Blood Domain?" Amanda asked as she picked a carrot and munched it. It was soft and delicious.
Alex shrugged, "I still have no clue. I have given the job of preparing a shelter to Natasha. She told me it would take some time since she needs to hide things from the man who rules over that Domain. Once she comes here, I will contact the other three."
Alex revealed his plans. He still doesn't know how Natasha would prepare the shelter but he trusted her.
Being inside the labyrinth for months wasn't an option and since he had no other source who could actually create a perfect hideout for him other than Natasha, all he could do was to wait for her.
"This is delicious. Your culinary skills have improved, Alex." Jullie, who had gotten out of the tent while wearing a high-neck sweater, told him with an appreciative smile.
"Can you even taste anything? I heard from Rebecca that Vampires lose their tastebuds." Edric asked and instantly got glared at by Jullie.
"I can taste everything and it's good. You should not talk between the elders, Edric."
Edric was taken aback, "Since when did Alex become my elder?"
"The thing inside me is millions of years old. Respect him." Alex joked as he pointed at the guy with his spoon.
They joked and talked the whole afternoon, and by evening, Amanda decided to leave since she hadn't told her mother that she would be staying out.
"How is your father?" Alex asked.
Amanda nodded, "He is normal now. Although he still feels guilty about what happened that day, he isn't avoiding us. So yes, he is better now."
Alex nodded, "Hmm. Had Sarah checked him recently?"
"Yes, she did...rather, Dad himself asked her to check him. Dad even sent a few soldiers to the church to search the people who came that day."
"It's useless now. Well, I hope he remains wary of those kinds of people now."
Amanda shrugged, "They don't have any reason to pursue him anymore. I think those Gods won't bother us anymore."
Alex sighed, "I also hope that."
"Shall we go?" Edric asked as he extended his hand toward his lover.
Amanda was about to step towards him when suddenly, "Wait, go through this. It will take you near the Capital."
Alex summoned a Teleportation portal. It was a dark portal, the similar one used to teleport Alice and Natasha back then
"You can use the spell?" Edric asked worryingly.
Alex assured him, "Unless I go full battle mode and don't use several high-ranking spells, they won't notice the Curse's presence."
Edric nodded before he turned towards Amanda, "Let's go then?"
Amanda nodded before she turned toward the Professor.
Approaching her, she held her hands and said, "I am happy for you. Just don't let him go now whatever happens."
Jullie nodded smilingly, "I won't." They shared a hug before Amanda and Edric left.
Alex asked his Professor, "I think it's time for you to make a public appearance as well."
Jullie nodded, "I will visit the academy and then return to the blood domain."
It was pre-planned that there could be people at the academy who might be under Eldorin's command. As such, for Jullie not to get in contact with the Headmaster, who was also a father figure to her, would seem suspicious.
They approached each other, holding hands and eyes locked.
"The past few days have been the best days of my life. Thank you for making my dull life beautiful."
She leaned toward him and kissed his lips.
They shared a brief kiss before Alex told her, "Don't take unnecessary risks and communicate with me using the Bond."
Jullie nodded, "You too, don't go out."
They shared another kiss before Alex opened another portal for her and they bid their farewell.
Once left alone Alex looked at the vacant labyrinth floor.
He was feeling suddenly lonely with everyone leaving, especially Jullie.
Now, he has to live here all alone for the next few days.
'Haah~What do you say, Curse? Is the plan working?'
He sat down on the ground and brought out his swords to clean them.
There was nothing better to do.
[I suppose it is. You just need to keep an eye on your lovers and friends. If they are not approached by some suspicious people then consider those Gods being fooled.]
Alex hummed as he started wiping the blades using a dry cloth.
Now, it all depends on what happens in these few months.
If they really got fooled then Alex would be able to train in silence and prepare for what is to come.
...but if they still are going to send people after him, then Alex will fight his way into the Celestial Trials.
'Haah~let's wait and watch for now.'
