Rebirth in Journey to the West: Sun Wukong

"So that's how it is! Alright, alright, Great Elder, you don't have to be so polite. I actually didn't do much, just accidentally summoned this divine temple."

Sun Wukong waved his hand, feeling a bit disappointed. He had wanted to conquer the Wind-Thunder Divine Stick and then thoroughly explore to see if there were any other treasures inside the Wind Thunder Divine Temple. Now, it seemed that wasn't going to happen.

The Great Elder had already said that this was their clan's temple, containing their heritage and secret techniques. He didn't feel right about looting any further.

"Well then, I won't keep you, Great Elder, from retrieving this temple any longer. I'll take my leave now. If you're free later today, Great Elder, I have some matters to discuss with you!"

"Matters to discuss?"

Seeing the serious expression on Sun Wukong's face, the Great Elder understood. The matters Wukong wanted to discuss must be significant. He nodded in agreement, "Then please wait in the reception hall, Great Saint. After I've dealt with this Wind Thunder Divine Temple, I'll come and talk in detail."

"You two, take the Great Saint to the grand reception hall to rest!"

The Great Elder instructed two members of the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan, but then he stopped Pengyu, "Pengyu, you stay. Help me receive the Wind Thunder Divine Temple."

"Yes, Great Elder!"

Pengyu was momentarily stunned, then a surge of ecstasy filled his eyes. The Great Elder's intention was clear— he was grooming him. This meant he was being considered for the next clan leader!

The Wind Thunder Divine Temple was the oldest and most crucial heritage temple of the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan. Traditionally, only the clan leader was qualified to receive it. The Great Elder's decision to keep Pengyu behind to receive the temple together with him was pregnant with meaning, and the other two elite members of the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan couldn't help but look at Pengyu with envy.

But there was nothing they could do about it; who could blame someone as fortunate as Pengyu, who had recognized such a powerful figure as Sun Wukong as his leader?

Sun Wukong did not stay in the grand reception hall for long. In just half a day, the Great Elder arrived in the hall accompanied by an elated Pengyu.

"Old Four, has the temple been completely received?"

"It has!"

"Did you find anything?"

Sun Wukong asked purely out of curiosity. Pengyu glanced at the Great Elder, as this was a secret of the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan and he was unsure whether he should tell Sun Wukong.

The Great Elder nodded. Sun Wukong had done a great favor for their clan, and Pengyu and Sun Wukong were sworn brothers. There was no need to hide anything, and besides, with Sun Wukong's strength, he wouldn't covet their clan's inheritance.

"We made a great haul!"

Reassured by the Great Elder's approval, Pengyu relaxed and detailed to Sun Wukong the process of them receiving the Wind Thunder Divine Temple. His tone was filled with delight, for these were privileges exclusive to the next clan leader, especially the heritage and techniques for nurturing descendants within the Wind Thunder Divine Temple. It was as if doors to a new world had opened up for Pengyu. Although he appeared unchanged on the outside for now, given time, he was bound to soar upwards and become one of the top powerhouses in the Three Realms!

"So it sounds like you had quite a catch! Lucky guy, Old Four!"

After listening to Pengyu's account, Sun Wukong laughed and thumped Pengyu on the shoulder happily. Pengyu touched his nose, his face full of smiles.

"Great Saint, I have decided to appoint Pengyu as the new clan leader. In a few days, we will hold the ceremony for the transfer of leadership. Please, Great Saint, do us the honor of attending!"

The Great Elder greeted Sun Wukong with a cupped-hand salute.

"The new Clan Leader?"

Sun Wukong raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised as he glanced at the Great Elder and the Demon King Peng, and then laughed, "Oh, Lao Si, you're going to be the Clan Leader now! Congratulations! Then, I really must stay here a few more days to witness how you ascend to your position!"

After pausing, Sun Wukong shifted his gaze to the Great Elder and said, "By the way, Great Elder, there's something I've been meaning to discuss with you."

"Great Saint, please speak! I am all ears!"

"No need to be so formal!"

Sun Wukong waved his hand, "I wish to discuss the integration of the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan into Flower-Fruit Mountain. I plan to rebuild the Demon Clan's Heavenly Court and restore the glory of the Ancient Demon Clan. Since the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan is also a member of the Demon Clan, therefore..."

"So, the Great Saint wants our clan to join the Demon Cult?"

The Great Elder understood Sun Wukong's intentions with a start.

"Exactly!"

Sun Wukong nodded, "It all depends on whether you're willing, Great Elder!"

The Great Elder laughed, "Great Saint, I'm only temporarily acting as the Clan Leader, such matters ultimately need to be decided by the Clan Leader! The inauguration ceremony for the new Clan Leader is in just a few days, and you can discuss it with them then. As long as the new Clan Leader agrees, I have no objections!"

The new Clan Leader? Isn't that Demon King Peng? Hey, this Great Elder is really something, clearly agreeing yet giving the credit to Demon King Peng!

Joining the Flower-Fruit Mountain Demon Cult would be entirely beneficial for the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan, a fact well understood by the Great Elder.

Flower-Fruit Mountain was thriving, and with the establishment of the Demon Clan's Heavenly Court, it would soar even further. Joining the Flower-Fruit Mountain Demon Cult at this time was absolutely the best opportunity for the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan!

And so it was settled. Three days later, the entire Golden Winged Great Roc Clan held a massive ceremony for the succession of their Clan Leader, with Demon King Peng becoming the new Clan Leader. Adopting his new role, he announced that the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan would relocate en masse into Flower-Fruit Mountain and officially join as members of the Flower-Fruit Mountain Demon Cult.

Mobilizing the collective strength of the entire clan, the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan moved their territorial space from the Eastern Sea of the East Victorious Divine Continent to Northern Continent of Cattle-grazing, where Flower-Fruit Mountain was located. Sun Wukong had already sent word to Flower-Fruit Mountain, instructing Leng Xuan and others to host them well and discuss how to use the floating islands within the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan's territory. Meanwhile, Sun Wukong himself mounted the clouds and flew to the border of the Four Seas, heading for Heavenly Dragon Valley to relocate the entire valley.

Two days later, at the border of the Four Seas, the entrance to Heavenly Dragon Valley.

"Big brother, what's the rush calling us here to Heavenly Dragon Valley?"

Two figures flew in from the direction of the Northern Continent of Cattle-grazing, Candle Dragon Ao Tian and Ying Long Ying Tian. Sun Wukong had already been waiting in mid-air, seated atop the surging waves. Upon their arrival, he stood up and soared into the sky.

Addressing Ao Tian's inquiry, Sun Wukong smiled, "Have you heard about the Golden Winged Great Roc Clan joining Flower-Fruit Mountain?"

"Heard about it!"

"Have you seen their territory then? Doesn't it look familiar?"
