Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

Chapter 193: Eat a Watermelon and Fight Again

Lin Xiuyuan chuckled, he hadn’t expected that just upon entering the space, there would be watermelons to eat, and he unapologetically picked up a slice and started to eat heartily.

Seeing this, the others also gathered around the table, sat down, and began to eat watermelon and chat.

“Besides animals, there will probably be a lot of insects in these woods, too. You all need to be careful,” Lin Yunguo said.

He recalled that in the mountains near their home, although there were many treasures to be found, there were also lots of poisonous snakes and insects. Sometimes even a bite from a tiny insect could be deadly, let alone in these deep and old forests.

The group nodded in agreement. Today, they had made a special point of wearing long sleeves and long pants, and had even sprayed some Insect Repellent they found in the supermarket in the space. They didn’t know if it would work, but they had taken all the protective measures.

“Grandpa, you really don’t need to worry. Now, where are there any small bugs? The animals have all grown several times larger. Even if they were small bugs before, they’ve definitely become bigger now,” Lin Xiuyuan said.

“Indeed, but not all animals have mutated. For instance, when we first came across Local Tyrant Gold, the other monkeys hadn’t mutated,” Su Jin said.

Suddenly, Su Jin realized a serious problem: where was Local Tyrant Gold?

Everyone looked towards Lu Hao’s shoulder, but it was empty with nothing on it…

Su Jin held his forehead, realizing they might have forgotten Local Tyrant Gold outside when they entered the space.

“I’ll go take a look,” Su Jin said.

If they wanted to bring Local Tyrant Gold inside, it could only be brought in by her, no one else would do.

“Together.”

Lu Hao also stood up, he wasn’t comfortable with Su Jin being outside alone.

Su Jin nodded, and then the two of them disappeared from everyone’s sight.

At that moment, Local Tyrant Gold was frantically pacing around the trunk of a tree outside, unable to understand what had just happened, how his family had suddenly vanished, and how he had fallen off Lu Hao’s shoulder.

Then, the spirit gathering trapping formation began to take effect, and one mutated animal after another ran over from all directions, frightening Local Tyrant Gold into hastily climbing up a tree beside the bushes.

Su Jin and Lu Hao appeared at the spot where they had just entered the space, and Local Tyrant Gold quickly noticed them.

“Chirp chirp!”

Local Tyrant Gold leaped into Su Jin’s embrace; indeed, the female owner provided the most security.

“Sorry, Local Tyrant Gold, we forgot about you just now,” Su Jin apologetically said, although Local Tyrant Gold was just a monkey, she had long since considered it a part of their team.

“We’ve already trapped some in the formation,” Lu Hao peeked through the gaps in the bushes towards the formation. It seemed Master’s formation was very effective.

“Still too few, let’s wait a bit longer, let’s go~”

After saying that, Su Jin held Local Tyrant Gold in her arms and went into the space with Lu Hao. Because Local Tyrant Gold was a small animal, just like when Su Jin took in those poultry before, it could enter without going through a Jade Slip Contract, but she had to carry it in each time.

“Is this the little monkey guide you always talk about?” Li Xiuying asked in surprise, looking at the cute little monkey wearing clothes that Tianhui had made in the space. No wonder Tianhui made them so small; the monkey’s size was indeed dainty and adorable.

“Come on, let me hold you,”

Li Xiuying couldn’t resist and scooped Local Tyrant Gold into her arms. Local Tyrant Gold didn’t resist—the scent from Grandma was comforting, and it even gently nuzzled Grandma’s arm with its head.

Li Xiuying, who had instantly been charmed, held Local Tyrant Gold and petted it repeatedly.

“Xiao Hao, how’s the formation outside now?” Lu Guanhai curiously asked.

“Already trapped over a dozen, just wait a bit longer,” Lu Hao narrated what he had just seen.

Everyone marveled at the cleverness of the formation, which was much more useful than digging traps.

“Of course, when I wanted to eat meat on the mountain, I used this formation to catch them,” Nie Qing said proudly, never doubting for a moment that his formation would fail.

Local Tyrant Gold stayed in Li Xiuying’s arms for a while, then looked around curiously at this space. The air and environment excited it, and when no one was paying attention, it quietly slipped away.

Su Jin discovered by the creek that the grey fog she had seen enter the space from the villa yesterday had receded a little bit, though it was only a tiny bit. If she weren’t watching the position of the fog every day, she wouldn’t notice any change at all.

“Don’t worry, this time we’re definitely going to harvest lots of Beast Cores,” Lu Hao said, walking up to Su Jin. He had already decided to set up several more formations like this before resting in the space tonight.

Su Jin didn’t know about Lu Hao’s plan, but she also knew that he was trying to comfort her, so she took the initiative and took Lu Hao’s hand, planning to walk back to the Lu Residence slowly along the Spirit Field.

“Chirp chirp chirp”

The familiar chirping sounded, and Su Jin looked towards the orchard. She saw Local Tyrant Gold, which had somehow entered the orchard; it was now sitting on a branch, gnawing on a big, red peach. It even chirped as a greeting when it saw the two pass by.

“It eats too much,”

Lu Hao looked at the peach, which was almost as big as Local Tyrant Gold itself, and wondered how its little belly fit it all.

“Don’t worry about it, it never gets fat anyway,” Su Jin said with a smile. It seemed like Local Tyrant Gold really liked it inside the space.

The two continued walking along the Spirit Field and noticed that the crops there had grown a lot taller. It seemed they were due for another harvest soon. Luckily, Guo Yang had opened a shop to help them slowly move some of their produce.

The good thing about this retail shop was that besides them, no one knew exactly how much produce they had sold. If they sold the grains in bulk to others, it would inevitably attract attention from the wrong kind of people, which could be dangerous. Although turning the grains into food was somewhat troublesome, the price they sold it for had increased by quite a bit, and it also helped their grandparents pass the time.

After sitting in the space for a while, when they felt it was about time, they prepared to leave the space and start working hard.

Su Jin tried calling Local Tyrant Gold back. Having finished the peach, Local Tyrant Gold was lying on a branch resting when it suddenly felt a force pulling it up. In the next second, it appeared in Su Jin’s hands.

“How convenient,”

Mao Qiqi clapped her hands. So, was Local Tyrant Gold actually considered an item?

As the bushes shook, the group appeared behind the bushes. They looked in the direction of the spirit gathering trapping formation and found it was in complete chaos.

“Hahaha, the spiritual power of the Crystal Cores attracted so many,” Nie Qing walked out of the bushes first, putting away several Crystal Cores that had been placed near the formation to prevent attracting any more dangerous Mutant Animals. The formation was nearly overflowing with the creatures already inside.

“My God, is that a squirrel that big?”

Lin Xiuyuan exclaimed in surprise, looking at the Mutated Beasts inside the formation: squirrels, weasels, wild boars, pheasants, and more animals he couldn’t name. The common trait was that every one of them was huge.

The squirrel locked eyes with Lin Xiuyuan, its black eyes suddenly revealing a fierce light as it leaped towards him!

Squirrels attack people? Lin Xiuyuan thought about this as he dodged to the side.
