Chapter 354: Arriving in City E
Huo Qi knew, in the Apocalypse, Lian Ze had an unofficial title: enthusiast of Special Ability Users.
Lian Ze himself was without Special Abilities but was avidly devoted to researching various Special Abilities, and his mother, Han Wan, fully supported his research career. She even invited her brother Han Yizhou from B City’s Han family to help Lian Ze co-manage the research institute.
Han Yizhou was Lian Ze’s uncle, and although he was also medically trained, he was more skilled in management, which was extremely convenient for Lian Ze who was only interested in research.
“Send the documents to my office later.”
Lian Ze’s voice, devoid of any emotion, jolted Huo Qi back to reality.
“Oh! Okay, Dean,”
Huo Qi hurriedly responded.
“I remember, you are a Dual-Element Ability User?”
Lian Ze seemed to remember something before he left, turning his head to ask Huo Qi again.
“Yes, I am of the Speed and Space Elements,” Huo Qi replied, lowering his head.
“Oh~ very good”
Lian Ze seemed very satisfied with Huo Qi’s response and left with a lighter tone.
Huo Qi, watching the direction in which Lian Ze and his assistant nurse left, felt uneasy.
He had always been proud of being a Dual-Element Ability User, but being questioned by Lian Ze made him instinctively feel that this was not a good thing.
However, considering he was from the Han family, he no longer felt uneasy, as Lian Ze, no matter how keen on researching Special Ability Users, had never been known to touch Han Wan’s people.
But…he felt, after settling Han Wan’s matters, it might be safer for him to return to the Han family in B City…
Third floor of E City’s research institute.
In the spacious office, Lian Ze, looking fresh, watched intently the video Huo Qi had brought.
The video on the phone had been cast onto a giant electronic screen; although filmed from a distance, he could still plainly see the long-haired woman in white.
The enormous Man-eating Flower surrounded her, and the vines she conjured moved swiftly through the Zombie horde, leaving the Zombies powerless under her assault.
“Is this the Wood Element Ability?” Lian Ze asked, watching the screen.
“Yes, this is a video I took during a Zombie Tide at S City’s base. That woman is a Wood Element Ability User from S City’s base, named Su Jin,”
Huo Qi answered from behind.
“Su Jin…”
Lian Ze silently muttered the name.
“My lady heard that you were looking for strong Special Ability Users from various elements, so she had me and Huo Zhan recruit talents across different bases to assist you. Sadly, my mission failed, and I couldn’t bring back that Wood Element Ability User,”
Lian Ze, as if he hadn’t heard what Huo Qi said, continued to squint and watched the video again.
Only when the video was turned off did he sigh faintly and say, “That’s truly unfortunate…”
It would have been better if she had been brought back.
After Huo Qi left, Lian Ze carefully watched the video several more times in his office.
“Dean, searching for strong Special Ability Users of various elements wasn’t your idea, was it?”
The nurse following Lian Ze asked doubtfully; her Dean traditionally had no concern for such matters.
“Hmm? It seems you remember too many things,”
Lian Ze said, looking at Moli.
Moli dared not say anything more, realizing she had spoken out of turn.
Lian Ze shifted his gaze away, that matter indeed wasn’t his idea, but as long as he had enough research material, whose idea it was didn’t really matter.
The Wood Element woman appeared to be protected by a strong individual; he wondered if his good brother Lian Jiyue would be willing to help him bring her back.
He was, after all, the strongest Special Ability User in E City now.
————————————————
At that time, Su Jin and her companions had already successfully reached City E, but none of them were familiar with the city and did not know in which direction the base was located.
Not every base was like City S, where upon entering its range, various signs and posted maps immediately reminded everyone of the base’s location.
At this moment, the driver, Lu Hao, didn’t even know where he had driven to…
“Why don’t we stop and rest for a while,”
Su Jin suggested; continuing to drive around aimlessly wasn’t a solution. It would be great if they could encounter someone who knew the direction to the base.
“Yeah, let’s find a place to kill some zombies. My legs are getting numb from sitting,”
Lin Xiuyuan said, stretching languidly.
They had also eaten their lunch in their respective space areas and hadn’t moved since. Now both he and Nie Qing were eager to get out and stretch their limbs; even Mao Qiqi expressed a desire to chop a few zombies to aid digestion.
“Okay, I’ll find a more open area to stop,” Lu Hao said.
That’s good, Su Jin also expressed her agreement, hoping that killing some zombies would alleviate the depression in her heart.
“Zombies of City E, here I come~~”
Lin Xiuyuan shouted and waved to the zombies outside.
Lu Hao parked the vehicle in front of a shopping mall’s plaza.
Besides the zombies that had been following them all along, the number of zombies on this plaza was also quite impressive.
Lin Yunguo and Li Xiuying were worried; after all, there were only five of them, and here there must be over 500 zombies. Could they handle it?
“Grandpa, Grandma, you two go into the space first. Even staying in the car isn’t very safe,” Su Jin said.
At this moment, many mutated zombies were already attacking the armored vehicle.
“Be careful,”
Li Xiuying said worriedly. After reminding them, the two disappeared inside the vehicle.
The armored vehicle was already surrounded by zombies. Su Jin and the others looked outside; they couldn’t even open the car doors now!
“We’ll go up first and draw away the surrounding zombies. You and Uncle Nie take care of Qiqi and watch out for safety,”
Su Jin told Lin Xiuyuan.
“OK!”
After Lu Hao forcefully opened the panels on top of the armored vehicle, several sections of dark green vines shot out. The heads of two zombies lying on top of them were instantly penetrated by the vines.
Lu Hao had already jumped up first.
A few massive fireballs smashed into zombies that were trying to climb onto the rear of the vehicle.
Roar! Roar!
Su Jin also employed her vine-based ability to clear several zombies that had already climbed onto the hood of the car.
The vines, like a huge snake tail, swept all the zombies off the car’s hood.
Thinking of her and Lu Hao’s task to attract the creatures, Su Jin tried to concentrate her vine-based ability in mid-air.
Suddenly, a half-meter-wide green ribbon appeared on the side of the vehicle. The other end of the ribbon was tied to a railing near an ATM under the mall.
“New skill?”
Lu Hao asked with a smile, Xiao Jin’s abilities were always so versatile.
“Yeah, just thought of it, hehe,”
Su Jin replied and had already lightly stepped onto the green ribbon, running toward the rear of the zombie crowd.
Lu Hao also immediately followed, the green ribbon was actually made up of several thick vines joined together, perfectly capable of bearing the weight of two people.
“Wow, this girl’s Wood Element ability has really reached a state of perfection,”
Nie Qing couldn’t help but exclaim from inside the vehicle.
