Rebirth: Slice-of-life Cultivation

Jiang Ning flicked his fingers, the Puppet landed on the ground and took a few steps. Its movements were no different from a human's.

If one were to dress the Puppet in clothes, put a hat on it, cover its face, and add a pair of sunglasses, and let it walk down the street, truly, no one would realize it was a Puppet.

"The final step is next," Jiang Ning held a colorful Law Fragment in his hand.

He swallowed an Essence Building Pill and in one breath set up seven Arrays, then, summoning his Nascent Soul Realm casting skills, he controlled the Law Fragment.

The colorful fragment, like a shooting star, crashed into the Puppet's chest. At the chest area of the Puppet, it was like ripples on a lake's surface, colorful ripples undulating out, quickly sweeping across its entire body.

Jiang Ning paused for a dozen seconds, his Divine Sense once again probing towards the Puppet.

"A mysterious symbol, resembling a feather, has appeared in the right arm," Jiang Ning noticed something unusual.

"Is this the special Law ability it retained?"

"It seems to involve space," Jiang Ning wasn't sure of the feather rune's function, only feeling it resembled the space runes he had come across in books, yet it wasn't quite the same.

Compared to that space rune, the symbol on the Puppet's right arm had unexpectedly grown two circular rings.

"First, let's go to that space and try it out," Jiang Ning reached out and stored the Puppet into his Storage Ring.

His reason for preferring not to use the Law Fragment on himself but on the Puppet was to obtain more Law Fragments in the future.

Jiang Ning took the Flying Boat and ascended to that area.

He summoned the Puppet, draped it in a black robe, put on a hat, and covered its eyes.

The Puppet had just been refined, its internal Spiritual Power was abundant, enough to sustain the Puppet for two hours of operation.

Jiang Ning maneuvered the Puppet closer to that region, having previously set up a Moving Array, ready to transfer the Puppet out.

Jiang Ning segmented a portion of his Divine Sense and attached it to the Array engraved on the Puppet itself.

Then, he watched as the Puppet stepped into a strange world step by step.

Accompanying the intense and bright flickering of the feather rune on the Puppet's right arm, it gradually overcame the barrier between the two worlds.

"It works."

"And what about my own body?"

Jiang Ning immediately used his Divine Sense to scan, but where his Divine Sense passed, there were no gaps, indicating that only the Puppet could enter that world, not his own body.

The Puppet stepped in bit by bit, finally disappearing in front of Jiang Ning.

Jiang Ning arranged a Defensive Array around himself and then sat cross-legged on the Spirit Boat, closing his eyes.

In an instant, sight, hearing, smell, touch, all vanished, leaving only the Divine Sense lodged in the Puppet.

Jiang Ning "saw" a brand new world.

The sky was dark, the earth rough and uneven, stretching on indefinitely.

The barren land grew numerous strange plants, gray vines.

Blue ponds emitted bubbles like the chemical liquids in a laboratory.

"Fifteen minutes."

Jiang Ning intoned, as his Puppet was constrained by the Heaven and Earth Laws in the time it could exist, just fifteen minutes. When the time was up, it would disintegrate on its own.

Jiang Ning controlled the Puppet's movements.

Fifteen minutes later, the Puppet reappeared on the wooden boat.

Jiang Ning opened his eyes, the Puppet had traveled between the two worlds but hadn't brought back any Law Fragments, nor found any traces of them.

He wasn't disappointed, instead, he intently gazed at the feather rune on the Puppet's right arm.

"The Puppet has more than one Law," he muttered to himself.

That single cross-world travel had already revealed a surprise to him.

Jiang Ning stimulated the Puppet; the symbol on its right arm remained dim.

"It seems that the second Law can only be used in that world."

Earlier, as he had the Puppet running across the wilderness, they had encountered a strange creature attacking them. Jiang Ning had intended to strike back and kill it when the feather rune on the Puppet's right arm flickered.

With Jiang Ning's past experience, he immediately noticed something unusual.

He activated the rune on the puppet's right arm and struck the creature, only to slightly wipe it and thus erased its soul.

Jiang Ning was somewhat surprised, only high-level cultivators could directly erase someone else's soul.

The most wondrous part was, after the puppet erased the creature's soul, it implanted a Law Imprint inside its body.

First was traveling between worlds, the puppet could enter that otherworld every six hours.

Each time it entered that otherworld, the Feather Rune could erase up to six creatures' souls.

The creatures erased had to be loners, not social animals; otherwise, the erasure would fail.

After a creature's soul was erased, a Law Imprint would be implanted, which seemed to establish a link with the Feather Imprint on Jiang Ning's puppet arm, a link that seemed capable of breaking through the barrier between the two worlds.

Jiang Ning had a bold idea.

The Feather Rune could not only 'erase' souls but seemed to also 'exchange' them.

This morning, Jiang Ning erased a dog's soul in that otherworld, thus the dog died there, leaving only a 'carrier', just needing a new soul to be revived in that world.

Today, Jiang Ning planned to experiment with transferring a real world dog's soul to the body of a dog in that otherworld through the Feather Rune involving Heaven and Earth Laws.

Normally, the puppet's Feather Rune in the real world wouldn't glow, but Jiang Ning unexpectedly found out that as long as he erased a creature of the same breed and gender in both worlds, it seemed to meet the 'exchange' conditions.

According to Jiang Ning's speculation, a soul from the real world could be called back from that otherworld at any time, and if handled properly, it wouldn't harm the real-world creature.

The dog was just a preliminary experiment.

Jiang Ning discovered human cities and tribes in that otherworld.

As well as cultivators practicing 'Source Power.'

This meant that in the future, he could even try to obtain Law Fragments through 'people.'

Ahead, fierce dog barks resounded, and pedestrians by the roadside hurried away, afraid of being bitten by the stray dogs.

Jiang Ning walked unhurriedly over. Several dogs were barking, and the fiercest, loudest one was standing atop a garbage can lid.

This dog, just like the black dog in the otherworld whose soul Jiang Ning had erased, was just as arrogantly domineering.

"Stop your barking."

Jiang Ning executed a powerful Spiritual Power slap in mid-air, knocking the black dog off the garbage can, and after that strike, the black dog directly fainted on the ground, with the other stray dogs scattering.

Jiang Ning casually set up a Blinding Array and summoned the puppet.

At that moment, the Feather Rune on the puppet's right arm shone brightly.

Jiang Ning took two seconds to decide, then he controlled the puppet to implant a Law Imprint on the forehead of the black dog.

The Law Imprint on the dog's head corresponded to the Law Imprint of the black dog in that otherworld, linked through the Heaven and Earth Laws.

The puppet raised its right arm, activating the Law Imprint.

Jiang Ning stared at the black dog on the ground and muttered,

"Now, you shall receive an otherworld adventure experience."
