Chapter 641: Server-wide Hunt, Maximum Bounty

Twelve minutes later, the river’s surface rippled as a graceful figure emerged from the water. Beneath the night sky, Yaeger ran her fingers through her damp, jet-black hair and let out a soft breath.

"I should be safe here." She murmured as she pulled herself onto the shore.

As she stepped onto dry land, the blue film of light surrounding her flickered and dissolved into tiny particles. "So, the bead doesn’t work aboveground?" Yaeger muttered, momentarily puzzled by the dispersing light. But she quickly brushed the thought aside.

The Aqua Dodge Bead was the least of her concerns—there were more pressing matters at hand. She opened the guild interface and quickly relayed a brief summary of her ordeal.

She advised Yunuen and Little Fairy to avoid Jade City for the time being and suggested they level up in a more distant location.

‘Richard probably wouldn’t go after Yunuen and the others, but the same can’t be said for other players.'

Since they both carried Epic Equipment, it was safer for them to steer clear of Jade City.

"What should I do next?" Returning to Jade City wasn’t an option—at least not for now. ‘Who knows if Richard is searching for me once or even twice a day?'

Staying nearby was just as dangerous. If even one player spotted her, the entire city would know in an instant. ‘No, that’s too risky. One wrong move, and I could be caught.'

If Richard launched a sudden attack, she would have no choice but to surrender. Against a Legendary powerhouse, she might not even have time to log out.

"Where should I go…" Before she could finish, a place suddenly came to mind. The Imperial Docks—Aoma Village! "That’s it! It’s far from Jade City, and hardly any players go there. If I disguise myself, I can stay under the radar!"

She had been so caught up with everything that she hadn’t checked on the village’s plague situation. She had entrusted Alicia with handling the outbreak, but now that Alicia was in trouble, the village was likely receiving far less aid.

"I can’t let the [Starfall Disease] spread through the Jade Empire!" The plague was the catalyst for the event—[Rise of the Undead]. Once triggered, the event would plunge the Jade Empire into ruin, bringing devastation and countless casualties.

To Yaeger, this event was nothing short of a nightmare.

‘The Jade Empire is my foundation. I won’t let them destroy it!’ With that thought, she had already decided on her next move. She would go to the Imperial Docks and assess the plague situation herself.

If things were dire, she would step in personally and put an end to the crisis.

Just as she turned to leave the shore and make her way to the main road, a system announcement rang out.

⚠ Mass Broadcast ⚠ Level Requirement Reward Bounty Time Limit Eligibility Note 1 Note 2
The player, [Princess], is now wanted by the Jade Empire.
Maximum
Captured alive (Her level can be reduced to 1)
– 1 Unique Random Equipment Crate

– 1 Epic Random Equipment Crate

– 7 Rare Random Equipment Crates

300 million
7 days
All players except [Princess] can participate in the event.
The player [Princess] must remain online daily for no less than 14 hours before the event ends.
After the player [Princess] is killed, she must return online within an hour. Otherwise, she will lose a piece of equipment every hour until depletion.

Yaeger’s eyes twitched, and the corners of her lips quivered involuntarily at the announcement. Wasn’t this bounty event a bit excessive? Not only was there a staggering 300-million bounty, but the rewards also included Unique, Epic, and Rare crates.

In her mind, she could already see the entire server hunting her down. And it wasn’t just the players—even the Empire’s NPCs would be joining the hunt.

"I’m basically a walking treasure chest at this point, aren’t I?"

The reward was so tempting that even Yaeger half-jokingly considered tying herself up and turning herself in. Unfortunately, she was the only one excluded from participating in the event.

"Maybe I should just let Yunuen turn me in and split the reward," Yaeger muttered with a wry smile. Of course, she wasn’t being serious. She wasn’t foolish enough to walk straight into a trap.

"Either way, this bounty is going to be a massive headache… My movements will be completely restricted." For the next seven days, both players and NPCs would be frantically scouring the land for her. "Looks like heading to the Imperial Docks really is my best option."

Staying near Jade City was too risky—there was no guarantee she could stay hidden. If she was discovered, the consequences would be disastrous.

A sudden beep, beep interrupted her thoughts—her mailbox lit up with incoming messages. One after another, they flooded in.

She checked her inbox—they were all from Yunuen and the others. Every single one expressed concern for her safety. A warmth spread in her chest as she read through their messages.

"You guys really are my true friends," she murmured, feeling a sense of relief. Without hesitation, she sent a reply, reassuring them and urging them to carry on with their tasks.

With that done, she closed the message interface, slipped onto the road, and took cover behind a towering evergreen tree.

After a brief wait, a lavish Beast Carriage rolled past. As soon as it moved a safe distance away, Yaeger melted into the shadows, darted after it, and effortlessly leaped onto its roof.

Her landing was so delicate that it barely disturbed the carriage—like a feather drifting onto its surface.

‘Perfect. I’ll hitch a ride to the docks this way.' Settling onto the roof, Yaeger stretched her limbs and allowed herself to relax.

"Right… I almost forgot. I still have to deal with Vera One, Two, and Three later." The thought of her real-life obligations resurfaced, and her expression darkened with disappointment.

Looks like she wouldn’t be making it to the docks just yet.

"Whatever. I’ll just log in tomorrow and make the trip myself."

Meanwhile, in Jade City… Every player stood frozen in shock, their eyes brimming with disbelief. The reason? The bounty on [Princess] was so outrageous it felt surreal. A Unique crate, an Epic crate, seven Rare crates, and 300 million—just for capturing one player!

The forums erupted as players flooded them with posts about the mission.

As soon as Mira caught wind of the bounty, she immediately switched servers and scoured the forums. The sheer generosity of the reward made her eyes widen, her pupils contracting in shock.

"By the gods! What kind of atrocity did she commit in the Jade Empire to deserve this?!"

If not for the server restrictions, she would have brought her [Wings of Freedom] Guild over to hunt Yaeger down herself.

Inside the Adventurer’s Guild…

"Good! Excellent! Absolutely perfect!" Taurus slammed the table, his voice brimming with excitement.

"Young Master Zhang, we’re about to make a fortune!" S.K.Y. clenched his fists, his face alight with enthusiasm. This mission was practically tailor-made for them—an opportunity too perfect to pass up!

They had already devised a plan to repeatedly kill the Black-hearted Princess until she lost all her equipment and items. However, pulling it off wasn’t exactly practical. After all, if the Black-hearted Princess refused to log back in after dying, their plan would fall apart.

Would they really be willing to camp her corpse indefinitely, just waiting for her to respawn? That would be an enormous waste of both time and manpower. This was the biggest flaw in their entire strategy. And it was a flaw they simply couldn’t work around.

But now, this bounty event had conveniently patched up their biggest problem. And to top it off, the reward was absurdly generous!

"If she doesn’t log back in within an hour after dying, she’ll keep losing her equipment. Good… Good… Very good!" Taurus kept slamming the table, his grin stretching wider with each passing second.
