Chapter 110: Car’s mysteries
As the days passed, people quickly found out how useful automobiles were, not only for transporting large amounts of materials through far terrains but also for personal travel.
The Reborn company began to showcase the power of their automobile fleet by transporting all kinds of products through the different territories in the Kings region.
For example, turmeric, which was very rare and scarce in territories very far away from the Grass Valley, could now be purchased in any Reborn company market in every territory. The best part was that it was so much cheaper than the normal prices because the effort to transport them was a lot easier with the automobiles.
Concrete became a very big business for the company ever since people realized what Castelle meant when she said that they could 'deliver anywhere in the Kings region'.
Rural areas and villages that only had wooden houses and huts could now build city-like buildings in their territory because of how easy it was to transport concrete compared to stone or steel.
Royals who owned their piece of land turned to Reborn to further expand their territories, allowing them to build walls and buildings in a very short time frame.
Of course, once people realized the true power of automobiles, people began to ask how they could purchase their own vehicles. Businesses, royals, and even normal people wanted to buy their own automobiles. They would always gawk and ogle at any Reborn automobile that drove through the streets of Kingsbridge, hoping that they could one day be able to ride one for themselves.
Michael priced a normal sedan car to about 10,000 gold coins, and 40,000 for a large truck.
Some smart, business-minded people immediately bought their own sedan cars, to make it as a business of their own. They would use it just like a carriage, selling rides on their automobiles for a cheap price.
Michael could have monopolized the use of automobiles for his company only. After all, the speed and efficiency of cars allowed them to have a competitive edge over everybody because they could provide rare products for a cheap price compared to others.
However, Michael knew that it was a short-sighted plan. He was thinking much further ahead, to when the whole world was using automobiles.
After all, these cars couldn't run forever. They needed fuel, something that they had plenty of back in the Nation of Reborn.
So, just as people started to buy their own automobiles, Michael had Castelle start constructing plenty of gas stations all around the territories to supply everyone with all the fuel they would ever need.
And because more and more people were buying automobiles, many territories were also forced to buy concrete from them to construct bigger roads in their territories to accommodate the cars.
They also began construction on roads connecting the different cities and villages in the Kings region, allowing the automobiles to show their full potential.
The commerce within the Kings region received a big boom with the advent of concrete and automobiles, with gold circulating at a much faster rate than normal.
But of course, the Reborn company received most of that money, which Michael used to keep the factories in his nation to keep creating products.
…
…
…
Seberus Augindore was the Tower Master of Kingsbridge City's Magic Tower. He was supposed to be the main authority in magic and all things mystifying.
However, even he was stumped as he and a lot of other wizards inspected a Reborn automobile with their own eyes.
The sedan car had its hood popped up open, showing all of the internal machinery that made the automobile work.
One 6-star wizard used the 5-star spell [All-seeing Magic], allowing him to sense all elemental mana in his surroundings. However, as the magical eye floating above his head peered through the automobile, he couldn't see any sign of a magic spell being used to make it work.
"It doesn't use any magic," he said, with his voice emanating disbelief. "There is nothing mystifying about this automobile and only uses the physical world to function."
The rest of the mages and wizards gasped at this discovery. It was hard to believe that a reality-defying object used no magic at all.
"Tower Master, is it truly not magic? How is this possible?"
Everyone turned to the wisest man in the room.
Seberus stroked his long beard and took another look at the car.
"Hmmm… I need more deliberation. It would be wise for you all to let me meditate upon this automobile alone," he said to everyone.
The mages soon left the room, leaving only Seberus and the automobile in front of him.
And in the silence, Seberus asked, "Michael, are you listening to me?"
Suddenly, the shadow behind his feet elongated and allowed Michael's body to emerge into the room.
"Yo! You called me?" Michael said as he casually saluted the old man.
"Your new product is very impressive," Seberus said. "It still surprises me that you can come up with such ingenuity only using the natural way of the world, without using magic to circumvent reality. Tell me, how did you do it?"
Michael smiled at the old man before snapping his fingers, telekinetically moving the chessboard and its pieces to arrange themselves on the table.
"How about a game first?"
Seberus chuckled and gently sat on the opposite side of the table. "I must warn you. I have improved by leaps and bounds since you were gone."
Michael sat on the opposite side and scoffed. "You're not the only one, old man!"
The two played the game just like before, with them exchanging pieces equally.
But no matter how much Seberus thought he improved, Michael always seemed to get the upper hand in the end.
"Having trouble? Why don't you take a drink to calm yourself down?" Michael joked.
Seberus glared at Michael before taking a sip of water to refresh his mind and think about his next move.
Michel, seeing the perfect opportunity, finally spoke up.
"Oh, I created something special. Would you know anything about this?" he said as he revealed a piece of Mithril to Seberus.
And just as expected, Seberus ended up spitting out all the water in his cup in utter shock.
Michael rolled on the ground, laughing uncontrollably at his perfectly timed revelation.
