Chapter245-Lord Velen, How Could You Trick the Elderly!
Seeing that the system no longer responded, Velen let out a long sigh and muttered to himself,
"Looks like I'll have to return to the fortress. Can't leave anyone out in a matter like this. Guess I'll have to subsidize them myself."
He clenched his fist with determination.
"They must experience this!"
Moments later—
"Lord Velen, did you summon us?"
Hael, Austin, and William had arrived at Velen's guest room. Unlike before, none of them dared call him "Little Brother Velen" anymore.
After all, just recently, the five of them had been nearly beaten to death by the five Grand Senators. That particular beating had left a lasting impression—etched into their very souls.
"There are twelve potions here—four for each of you. Hurry up and drink them. They're very beneficial to your body."
Without further ado, Velen handed them a dozen bottles of Endurance Potion.
"Lord Velen," Hael asked curiously while accepting the vials, "shouldn't we call Audrey and Jenny over too?"
"No need," Velen waved him off. "This potion isn't suitable for them. Just you three. Drink quickly—I've got a lot more deliveries to make."
The three looked at the magnanimous Velen and felt a surge of warmth in their hearts.
So this is what it feels like to be doted upon…
Lord Velen, please don't spoil us too much!
Their hearts raced, hands trembled with emotion as they uncorked the potions and downed them. Within three seconds, they felt the effects kick in.
"Holy—!"
"Why does it feel like a blazing inferno is surging through my legs?!"
"This... this potion...!"
The three widened their eyes in disbelief and turned their shocked gazes toward Velen.
Their expressions said it all: "We're still young! How could you trick us like this?!"
"Remember," Velen said with a stern expression, "this potion is very special. You must restrain yourselves."
"Don't worry—the effects only last a day and a night."
A day and a night?!
The trio's eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
"Restrain ourselves?!"
"Only a day and a night?!"
Their disbelief turned to horror as they looked at Velen as if he were a walking nightmare.
Lord Velen, do you even hear the words coming out of your mouth?
Only a day and a night? At this rate, surviving one hour would already be a miracle!
The three were on the verge of tears.
Had we known, we never would've been so greedy…
"Don't look at me like that," Velen shook his head, half-sighing. "You don't understand now, but someday you will."
"This little 'tribulation' will be a great benefit to your cultivation. Someday, you'll thank me for this."
He patted their shoulders as they stood there on the verge of collapse.
They wanted to thank him alright—preferably with a punch to the face.
The three held their heads and wailed internally.
Now that he had distributed the potions to this group, Velen began pondering his next stop.
"Where to next?"
"Should I head to the Ducal Manor and deliver the potions to Anastasia's father and the five Grand Senators?"
"Or head straight to the Uno Kingdom to deliver them to the Five Knights Commander, the Crown Prince, and Galdorin?"
He watched as Hael, Austin, and William helped each other down the hall in a bizarre, stiff-legged walk—each step a struggle against the raging storm inside them.
Velen tapped his chin thoughtfully.
As for the fortress… I'll go there last. After all, the Ironback Centipede and that rabbit aren't escaping this fate either.
"Alright—Ducal Manor it is!"
Meanwhile, inside the Ducal Manor—
"Achoo!"
One of the Grand Senators sneezed suddenly, rubbing his nose with a puzzled expression.
"Strange… I don't see any dust around here."
For some inexplicable reason, a sense of foreboding had settled over his heart.
Back at the inn, second-floor hallway—
"Hael big brother, what's wrong with you three?"
Audrey and Jenny, on their way downstairs for breakfast, suddenly froze when they saw the trio limping toward them in awkward, almost painful poses.
The three men turned pale the moment they saw the two girls.
Oh no!
The primordial energy surging within them was on the verge of overflowing!
All they wanted now was to dash back to their rooms and shut the door forever—but alas, in the final few steps, they had run into the last people they wanted to see.
"Uh… We're training a special movement technique. Don't disturb us—go do your thing…"
Hael grit his teeth and forced out a big brotherly air of authority, barely keeping it together as he waved them off.
Once Audrey and Jenny descended the stairs, the trio sighed in unison, then bolted for their rooms with all the grace of drunken zombies.
Back at the Ducal Manor—
"Grand Senators, how has your training been under the one-eyed red-haired man these past few days?"
Velen stood outside their magical research chamber, smiling at the approaching elders.
"Ahh…" Grand Senator William let out a heavy sigh. "We've made some gains, to be sure. But the process was pure torture."
"Lord Velen, you don't know the half of it. That man practically had us training twenty-four hours a day!"
"We only got two days of rest—and we're down to the final one. Honestly, I just wish time could slow down for once."
Hearing this, Velen's eyes lit up with a mischievous spark.
Time passing slowly? That's perfect.
What better time to "gift" them the Endurance Potions?
When someone wants time to go faster, any delay feels like eternity. But when they want it to slow down?
Why not give them the full "day-that-feels-like-a-year" experience?
"Gentlemen," he began gently, "I have a method that'll make your last day feel… exceptionally long."
"You do?"
"Lord Velen, you truly have such a method?"
Hope flickered in the eyes of the five Grand Senators.
They might not trust anyone else, but if Velen said something, they believed it without question. After all, he always had exotic items none of them had ever seen before.
"What is it? Is it a spatial item? One that distorts time flow inside?"
"Or a temporal artifact that actually slows time itself?"
"If we could experience a 'day that feels like a year,' that would be perfect!"
Their eyes gleamed with excitement and expectation.
"Oh, that's easy," Velen said with a smirk. "Here—twenty bottles of potions. Four each. Drink up, and I promise you'll feel every second of the day."
He handed out the Endurance Potions like party favors.
"Really?" the Grand Senators asked skeptically. "These little things can stretch time?"
"Every moment," Velen replied cryptically, his words carrying double meaning.
"Fantastic! Thank you, Lord Velen!"
William, the most enthusiastic supporter of Velen's extravagant antics, didn't hesitate. He uncorked a bottle and chugged it on the spot.
The other four weren't far behind. Down the hatch the potions went.
Three seconds later…
"VELEN!!!"
"You're a demon in human skin!"
"We're old men! How could you trick us like this?!"
The transformation hit them all at once. Faces flushed, eyes bulged, they stared at Velen with trembling hands and trembling hearts.
"I—what the hell!"
"Why must you torment this old body?!"
William howled in despair, and the other four Grand Senators echoed him in synchronized agony.
