Reclaiming my runaway Luna

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Xavier's Pov

My eyes lazily wandered through the General's office as I walked in, carelessly absorbing little details, until my eyes caught her.

I almost ignored them, but she lifted her eyes the same second I wanted to turn; my eyes caught hers, and I froze.

Our eyes met, it held in great shock for less than a second, but her eyes fell as quick as they rose.

It was for a short moment, yes, but long enough to jog my memory; how can I ever forget those emerald-green eyes?.

"You're welcome, King Xavier", The General greeted.

I vaguely registered the General's voice; it was her I was looking at now, her sitting figure, her face buried in her palm. Could it really be her? How can this person look so much like her?.

"The resemblance is uncanny,", I thought to myself, still in utter disbelief of what was right before my eyes.

I remained fixed at the door, unable to move because, right at that moment, I didn't know what to do.

"Amanda" I called out breathlessly, feeling something between shock and disbelief. Something rose in my stomach, something I knew would erupt if she answered.

"Is there a problem your highness?" The General's voice disrupted me.

"Do you know her?" An unfamiliar masculine voice followed the General's voice. I lifted my head, and I saw the surprise plastered on their faces.

I would have answered the question, in the affirmative also, but I couldn't. I remained mute. Do I tell them 'Yes' she's my fiancé and four years ago she mysteriously disappeared or 'No' she looks like the only woman I've ever loved?

Maybe I'm overthinking. I removed my gaze her, seconds had passed and she didn't look up again, not even once, if it was really Amanda, my Amanda, I know she will not pretend like that.

I returned my gaze to the General. My throat felt itchy, and I couldn't stop pushing forced breaths to clear it up.

"Are you okay your highness?" The General looked very confused.

"Yes," I quickly answered, pulling myself a seat.

"This is Christopher Gezza, one of the specialist Doctors at our general hospital" He said, pointing at the only other man in the office and returning to his chair.

He reached out for a handshake, and I met his hand halfway.

"And who is that?" I couldn't help but ask; since he was introducing the people in his office, I wanted to hear first-hand if it was Amanda or not.

"She's my girlfriend", Christopher quickly answered; it was as if he was waiting for me to ask the question.

"And also a victim of the southeast brutality" " the General added.

Her sobs, although suppressed, still filtered into my ears; what could they have done to her?.

"Thank you so much for coming; it means so much to our pack that you're here and willing to support us" The General relaxed into his chair as he spoke; I struggled to concentrate as my mind unconsciously wandered to her every second.

"The southeastern king and his warriors need to be taught a lesson; they gave bitten more than they can chew; this is outrageous and cannot be accepted!" His voice rose and his face wrinkled.

"That's the main reason I'm here" I made another failed attempt to clear my throat.

"I need to know how ready your soldiers are for battle, it is only a pity that they attacked your pack last night".

Plans have been in motion for the past three months on how to put a stop to the brutality exerted by the southeastern warriors on other wolves that cross their path.

The Blackstone pack, the Crystal pack and the Tidal pack warriors have all agreed to stand with the Crimson pack if war eventually breaks out against the Southeast pack.

The only other pack in the province yet to join the alliance was the Delta pack, but now that they've been attacked, their collaboration is only naturally expected.

"After what they did to us last night" He leaned out of his chair, "We are one hundred percent ready to attack" I appreciated the finality in his voice, it's what I want to hear.

"How bad was the attack?" Just to be sure of the severity of what happened last night.

"Well," He opened a file and lazily skimmed through the pages before raising his head to continue.

"They mostly destroyed properties, and the people who they attacked were barely hurt, but every valuable thing they had on was taken away".

In a split second, I turned to Christopher; he had been quiet. He was at the table with us, but his eyes were on her as she sobbed unstop.

"Was her property stolen or did they take her valuables?" I asked now perusing the file in front of me.

The General was silent. I raised my eyes to meet his, "Her case is the only exception" He sighed deeply.

"I still cannot understand why those beasts decided to punish little children for a sin they know nothing about" Christopher's voice was laced with anger and frustration.

"What children?" I asked confused.

"We need to get them! They are just four years old, and from the tales I heard earlier, there's no limit to their brutality" The urgency in his voice was unmatched.

"The southeastern soldiers killed the babysitter and kidnapped the triplets", The General added.

"I'm confused" I readjusted myself, "Whose children were kidnapped?".

"She's over there, Amanda, her children are the only ones missing" The mere mention of her name made my heart skip.

I turned again; this time, her head was up, she was a small distance away, but I could see her face, her eyes glistened, and her fingers were entwined in each other.

My eyes widened at the reality of things as they unfolded; I couldn't wrap my head around it; the shock and realization made me stand up; it was her! It was Amanda, my Amanda.

"Your Highness, the kids are just four years old. Have pity on a single mother and let's hasten plans to save the children" The General's appeal revealed a heavier confession.

"Amanda?" I called out again, more shocked than I was before, this time daring her to ignore me.
