Reincarnated As Fenrir The God Of Chaos

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Runia

'Now, tell me—' He didn't finish his sentence.

As a new voice echoed through the halls, unfamiliar yet commanding, growing closer until it reached Rose's room.

"Luna, where are you, my sweet princess?"

Luna's ears perked up, and in an instant, her tail wagged excitedly. She spun around and bolted toward the source, only to be caught in a warm embrace. A woman with sleek black hair and striking amber eyes cradled the massive wolf's neck, stroking her fur with obvious affection. She wore a noble's dress, elegant yet practical, the very image of refinement.

Fenrir's ears twitched as he took in the sight. Wow… she's beautiful.

"Mother, look!" Rose leaped off the bed, cradling Fenrir in her arms as she rushed toward the woman. "Look at what Brother got me!"

The woman's sharp gaze shifted to the small black wolf. "Oh my… a wolf pup? And such a strong aura radiating from him."

Before Fenrir could react, she gently took him from Rose's arms, holding him up as her piercing amber eyes locked onto his green ones. A strange sensation ran through him, as if she were peering straight into his soul.

"Oh my," she murmured, intrigued. "He has magic flowing through him… strong magic. He will make a fine guardian for you, Rose."

"Wait, really? That means I can take him to school with me?!" Rose's face lit up with excitement.

Wait… school? And what does she mean by guardian? Fenrir's ears twitched as he mulled over the word. It probably means I'm supposed to protect her…

And magic is flowing through me? Well, that figures. That would explain how I can understand and speak their language.

"Indeed, my sweet daughter," her mother confirmed with a warm smile. "You must take good care of him, and in return, he will protect you from any danger." She gently placed Fenrir back into Rose's arms.

"I will, Mother," Rose beamed, cradling him close as she ran her fingers through his fur.

As Rose's mother leaned down, her lips brushed against her daughter's forehead with a feather-light touch. "It's getting late. Go change into your nightgown," she murmured, her voice warm yet firm. She turned toward the door, her elegant dress flowing with each step. "Sweet dreams, my dear." Luna padded beside her, her large paws barely making a sound against the polished floor.

Rose hesitated for a moment, watching them go before whispering, "Goodnight." She lifted Fenrir and placed him on the bed before disappearing into the adjoining room.

Fenrir shifted on the plush covers, his gaze drifting toward the window. The night stretched endlessly, the moon a luminous pearl against the dark sky. Its silver light poured into the room, bathing everything in a pale glow. He stared at it, lost in thought.

His sister… had she been given another chance? Was she somewhere out there, running free in a new body, untouched by the sickness that had once bound her?

A warmth flickered in his chest at the thought. But alongside it, a quiet unease. If rebirth was possible, then something—someone—had to be behind it. A force greater than himself. If that's true… Why do they allow suffering?

The question settled in his mind like a stone at the bottom of a river, sinking deep. There was no answer, not one he could grasp.

The faint rustle of fabric pulled him from his thoughts. Rose emerged from the other room, now dressed in a soft pink nightgown, her golden hair spilling over her shoulders. She let out a sleepy yawn before slipping beneath the covers, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Goodnight, Fenris."

Fenrir watched her for a moment, the slow rise and fall of her breathing already evening out. With a quiet exhale, he rested his head on his paws.

…Goodnight, Rose.

The steady rhythm of Rose's breathing filled the room, each breath deep and peaceful as she slept soundly beneath the soft covers.

Fenrir, on the other hand, lay awake, his mind racing. It's time to test my powers. He shifted on the bed, his black fur glinting in the dim light as he stood on all fours. His chest puffed out, his muscles tensing as he thought back to the words Rose had spoken earlier. What were they again? He frowned, his tail flicking with frustration. Wait… maybe it's something like…

"Abracadabra," he muttered softly, almost unsure of himself.

Nothing happened.

His ears flattened, and he huffed in disappointment. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. He sat down on his haunches, his wolf legs folded neatly beneath him. Closing his eyes, he focused inward, searching for that feeling, that warmth he had sensed before. The darkness, too, lingered within him, but it didn't feel threatening. It was just there, waiting. I'll pull the warmth, he decided. Slow and steady.

He focused, pulling the warmth into his chest, feeling it surge through him like a rising tide. It spread outward, flowing through his limbs, his core, until his entire body hummed with energy. He opened his eyes, the spark of determination lighting within them. This was the moment.

The word formed in his mind, and without thinking, he whispered, "Runia," the sound barely more than a breath.

In an instant, a brilliant, golden light gathered before him, forming into a ball just in front of his nose. With a surge of energy, it shot out from him, the force so powerful that the entire house trembled. The beam smashed through the wall and shattered the windows, leaving behind a glowing trail of shimmering light in its wake.

Fenrir's eyes widened in surprise. "Holy shit!"
