Chapter 7: chapter 7:The Final Act of the Puppet

When I reached the battle point, I noticed Sayuri, her face covered in sweat and dust, standing next to me, panting slightly. Her hands were shaking, but her gaze reflected a renewed determination. We were not the same as at the beginning of this battle; we had survived the carnage, and now we were facing its final act.

"Fine, brats," Bruhil growled, twirling his kunai in his hand with a savage grin. "Let's tear him to pieces."

The Suna jōnin, hidden behind the monstrosity, laughed with unhinged euphoria, his fingers dancing in the air like a master of ceremonies.

-My masterpieces never die! Let's see if you can destroy something that doesn't

can feel pain!

The puppet moved with terrifying speed. Its multiple arms elongated like whips of flesh and bone, cutting through the air with a sharp whistle. Bruhil reacted instantly, dodging by millimeters and counterattacking with a chakra-coated kunai. However, when the blade sank into the rotting flesh, the creature did not react at all.

A monstrous fist slammed into him, sending him flying several meters away. Before he could get back up, the puppet was already upon him.

-Bruhil! - I shouted, lunging forward with a kunai in hand.

Sayuri reacted at the same time, sliding across the ground and launching a volley of shurikens with surgical precision. However, the puppet spun around and blocked the projectiles with a spiral of overlapping arms, as if they were a living shield.

Bruhil spat blood and growled with a ferocious smile.

-So this is how you want to play...

Without warning, he made a sequence of stamps with dizzying speed.

-Earth Release: Earth Hardening!

His skin was instantly covered with a thick rock armor,

hardening him against the puppet's next blow. When the monstrous fist struck him again, Bruhil barely moved, absorbing the impact with his reinforced defense.

-My turn.

He raised his hand and pointed it directly at the puppet.

-Earth Release: Multiple Mud Shots!

A flurry of hardened clay projectiles shot out from his hands, striking the creature in multiple spots. Shards of rotting flesh and splintered bones flew through the air, but the puppet kept moving.

The Suna jōnin clicked his tongue.

-Not bad, Uchiha... but it's not enough.

He moved his fingers again, and with a grotesque sound, the puppet began to regenerate, absorbing more nearby bodies. New arms and legs emerged from its torso, and its size grew even larger.

My heart was pounding furiously. We couldn't allow it to evolve any further.

I concentrated and extended my chakra. Time restriction would not help here. The creature did not have a normal life cycle, it was an aberration with no defined time.

But there was another way.

-Sayuri, prepare explosives. We're going to stop their movements.

She nodded immediately and started moving, leaving sealed traps on the ground. Meanwhile, I ran towards the puppet, attracting its attention.

-Hey, monster!

The creature turned its hideous face towards me and attacked with a downward strike. I powered myself with chakra, dodging at the last second and landing on its back. Before it could react, I performed a seal with calculated precision.

-Wind Vortex!

A current of air began to swirl around me

around, increasing in intensity until it formed a voracious whirlwind. In an instant, the puppet was violently dragged towards the center of the vortex, its multiple arms and limbs deforming under the pressure of the swirling air. The gales tore at its rotting flesh and splintered its bones, causing the creature to let out an inhuman shriek.

-Now!

Sayuri activated the traps. A series of explosions echoed across the battlefield, engulfing the puppet in flames and smoke. The jōnin cried out in surprise, momentarily losing control.

Bruhil did not waste the opportunity.

-Fire Release: Phoenix Flames!

He fired multiple fireballs that hit the weakened creature, setting the remaining remnants of its original form ablaze.

The jōnin burst into anger and shouted:

-How dare you destroy my work of art?! I will kill you!

Silence reigned on the battlefield.

Gasping, I looked around at the scattered remains of the puppet, making sure nothing was left standing.

Bruhil crossed his arms and smiled.

-That was fun.

Sayuri dropped to the ground, breathing heavily.

-Shut up, Bruhil.

I simply looked at the jōnin. I knew this wasn't over. But for now, we had the advantage.

The Suna jōnin was no longer smiling. His teeth were gritted, his gaze burning with pure hatred. With his puppet gone, it was now up to him to face us. His chakra surged with fury, sending up whirlwinds of sand around him.

-Damn brats! I'll crush them with my own hands!

Bruhil spat blood, but still smiled.

with that madness that characterized him. I stood on guard, feeling the electric tension in the air. Sayuri, stealthily, disappeared into the shadows, waiting for her moment.

The jōnin performed quick seals.

-Suna Arashi no Jutsu!

The wind roared as a sandstorm raged. Visibility dropped to almost zero. I felt the sand brushing against my skin like tiny blades. Bruhil covered himself with his earth hardening technique, but I had to rely on my reflexes and chakra to anticipate the attacks.

Suddenly, a buzzing sound.

I leaned to the side just in time to dodge a spear of hardened sand

which grazed my cheek. Another was headed for Bruhil, but he blocked it with his rock-covered arm, shattering it.

"I'm going for him!" Bruhil growled.

He charged forward, closing the distance in an instant with a direct blow to the jōnin. His rock-coated fist slammed into the enemy with the force of a hammer, sending him reeling back. But the jōnin was no easy opponent.

-Doton: Sunaodori!

The ground beneath Bruhil's feet turned into quicksand. His body began to sink. The jõōnin appeared behind him with terrifying speed and unleashed a series of strikes with surgical precision.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Each blow pierced Bruhil's earth defense, cracking it. I couldn't allow that.

I launched myself at full speed and executed a chakra-enhanced downward strike. The jōnin barely had time to block with a sand barrier.

-You have to do better than that! - he laughed, counterattacking with a wind chakra-charged spinning kick.

I jumped back, but the cutting blast caught me, ripping my clothes and opening a wound on my arm.

Bruhil took advantage of the distraction and made seals.

-Katon: Karyū Endan!

A fire dragon roared from his mouth, devouring the sand in its path. The jōnin covered himself with another barrier of sand, but the heat of the attack caused his defense to weaken.

-Now! -I shouted.

I powered myself with chakra and caught up to him in the air. I unleashed a relentless taijutsu combo:

A punch to the stomach. An elbow to the chest. A roundhouse kick to the temple.

The jōnin spat out blood, but at the last second he wrapped his body in hardened sand to cushion the damage.

-Die!

With a roar, he unleashed a wind blade with his hand. I saw it coming, but I had no time to react.

I was going to activate my Mangekyo and use restraint but Bruhil pushed me at the last second, taking the hit for me.

A scream of pain tore through the air as his right arm was severed.

-BRUHIL!

Blood gushed forth like a fountain. He fell to his knees, gasping, his face twisted in pain.

The jōnin smiled sadistically.

-Looks like someone lost their usefulness...

He was preparing to finish off Bruhil when a voice cut through the air.

-You forgot about me, you idiot.

The jōnin barely had time to turn his head before a poisoned kunai sank into his throat.

Sayuri, covered in sweat and dust, appeared behind him with a cold, deadly gaze. The jōnin tried to say something, but all that came out was a bubbling of blood. He fell to his knees, his eyes rolled back in his head.

Dead.

Sayuri leaned over Bruhil immediately, pressing his stump with bandages

improvised.

-Calm down, idiot. You're not going to die on my watch.

Bruhil, pale from loss of blood, let out a weak laugh.

-D-don't think this means I'll thank you, brat.

I stood there silently, watching the scene. The battlefield was covered in corpses, blood, and the remains of the puppet. But we had won.

As we were heading back, Bruhil looked at me curiously and asked:

—Hey, kid, where did you learn to do ninjutsus without hand signs?

Sayuri was also paying attention. She had noticed something else: my eyes sometimes changed color. She suspected it might be the Sharingan, but the patterns didn't match the usual ones.

—Well, they were created by me —I replied calmly.

Bruhil's eyes widened in surprise.

—Really, kid?

Sayuri chimed in with the same impression.

—Arata, you're a genius. You're not just a sensor, are you?

I laughed at their reaction.

—Don't think that doing those two jutsus was the hardest part. What I would say is my natural talent is chakra control.

Bruhil still seemed surprised.

—I don't think it's just that —he said, crossing his arms. Then he laughed and added—: Well, it doesn't matter, kid. You're still inferior to me, after all, it was me who had to save you.

Sayuri smiled at Bruhil's attitude, despite his injuries. She then looked at me and said:

—Thanks, Arata, for the support. And you, idiot leader, thanks as well.

The three of us kept walking with smiles on our faces.

When we arrived at the concentration camp, Fugaku ordered Bruhil to be attended by the medical ninjas. After that, we summarized the mission for him. Fugaku looked at us with his usual stern gaze and nodded.

—Well done helping Bruhil. Although he lost an arm, you managed to save him, and he also kept you safe. You can leave now.

After that, I sat down and watched my teammates. Sayuri approached and commented:

—This mission was tedious, wasn't it?

I laughed.

—It was. I feel a little bad for not being able to prevent Bruhil from losing his arm.

Sayuri gave me a pat on the shoulder.

—You said it yourself —she chuckled—, these things happen.

But suddenly, her expression turned serious.

—Arata... while I was watching, I noticed a change in your eyes. I'd say it was the Sharingan, but I didn't see the usual tomoe... Could it be... —she looked at me in amazement— do you have it?

I met her gaze calmly.

—The what? —I asked, even though I knew exactly what she meant.

Sayuri narrowed her eyes.

—Don't play dumb. You know I'm talking about the Mangekyō Sharingan.

I smiled.

—Well, I guess I couldn't hide it from your eyes, huh? Yes, I have it.

Sayuri sighed, thoughtful.

—By the way, what will you do with this information?

She looked at me seriously before answering:

—I won't tell anyone. After all, there's a reason you haven't said anything.

She turned to leave, but before she took more than two steps, I spoke:

—Sayuri, don't act tough. If you can't get past the trauma, just tell me.

She stopped and looked at me.

—I couldn't hide everything from your eyes either, huh? Don't worry, Arata. I have to be strong and get through it all.

She gave me one last look before saying goodbye:

—I'll see you, Arata.

I nodded silently as I watched her walk away.
