"It's a surprise you wanted to hang out before the weekend but aarrgghh thank you for bringing me out of my house. I'm such a poor loner."

Ling said as we hung out bustling with fresh exuberance of youthful energy.

She looked more relaxed and more beautiful now that she was out of the office.

"Well I need your help, I have to prepare for a school reunion and I'm a bit..you know old fashioned and I need your help with styling me...."

I felt stupid as I said the word.

"Perfect! Beauty is my area of specialization.. I wish I didn't have to work at Plexi."

She was so childish and sweet and I couldn't help but wish I was her.

"Well you should be ready to spend a few bucks, we would go to the best boutiques," she said, already leading the way. 

"Welcome ma'am. "

The attendants welcomed her quickly like a familiar leading her to the vip section. 

"Are you a regular?"

I was awed at the special treatment we were receiving. 

"Yes kind of."

She said, smiling sweetly.

"I'm not here for me today, Inneed you to get her some of your best gowns." She said to the attendants. 

"Ok ma'am." The attendants replied already, whisking me away.

I tried several dresses before Ling finally decided on an open back long gown.

"Yes, perfecto! This is it "

She said giggling excitedly. 

"I looked at the price tag on the dress and was shocked.

She saw my expression and she turned to the attendant 

"I still have a voucher for a free dress of my choice right? 

"Yes ma'am. "

"I'd like to use it to pay for this dress." Pointing to the black gown I had just gotten.

"Ok ma'am. "

"You would not need to pay for the dress ma'am."

The attendant turned to me.

"Thank you so much Ling, I'm so grateful and short of words."

I couldn't believe what had just unfolded before me.

She had paid for my dress.

"It's fine, I probably won't use the voucher."

Why do I feel like there's more to her than what she's showing?

First she was attended like a regular customer, then she was specially treated in the vip section and how many dresses she must have gotten before she got a free dress voucher in this boutique. 

I really didn't believe it when she said she was from a rich home....wow this rich!

"It's time to go and fix your hair so let's get going."

Yet again we received special treatment at the hair saloon and I concluded that she must be a very important person hiding to work in such a small unit, no wonder she was always so fashionable and classy.

By the time we were done with my hair, nails and lashes even I couldn't recognize myself. 

"Yes this is exactly what I'm saying. You look heavenly oh my gawd. 

"Thank you so much for today. I don't think I can ever repay you."

I genuinely meant it.

"Aww it was fun...you were fun. I never had a sister and not many friends. Today was actually the most enjoyable day for a very long time."

She said smiling. 

"I know it's late but if you don't mind let me treat you to a meal to show my appreciation. "

"Aww of course, I don't even want the day to end."

At the restaurant, I was surprised by how much of a carefree person she was.

"Are you sure you can still drink more? I asked when she was on her third bottle of soju.

"I can hold my liquor really well." She said the words slurry.

"Oh my god she's getting drunk."

"We should leave Ling, you don't look ok ."

"No, I haven't had a drink in a long time. Just this last bottle."

She said about to cry and looking cute.

"Ok, just this lady bottle."

I agreed so she doesn't cry.

She fell asleep while still on the third bottle.

"Ooh no, so much for knowing how to hold her liquor."

I said aloud. 

"Let's go home Ming. Where do you stay? Let me get you a taxi to drop you off."

"Looks like she's drunk beyond what I thought."

"Oh my head, where am I?"

"You're awake I said smiling at her 

"Oh mine, how did I get here? This is embarrassing, hope I didn't stress you."

"No, not at all. You were so cute."

I replied laughing.

"mmm I'm embarrassed...nooo."

"Come on, you don't need to. What would you like to have for breakfast? "

"Nothing for now, my head aches really bad...oh no I hate hangovers."

"Let me get you some soup to reduce it."

"So how did you get me home? It must have been so tiring and frustrating. "

She said smiling.

"No, not really. I found you really cute. You told me about your lost doll when you were younger."

"Really, I talked about it....noooo."

She said and we both burst into laughter.

"Ling."

I said looking serious.

"Hun?"

"Thank you so much for yesterday, I was bullied while in high school. I know it is not necessary but I just want to prove a point and not go there looking like a loser. "

"ooohhh, I'm sorry about that." 

She said looking sorry.

"Well they are about to see a new you."

My phone buzzed, it was a text from Ming.

"Hi girlfriend, you didn't forget our outing today, and make sure we come with matching bags. Best friends for life."

'Oh yeah, the bag.

I had forgotten all about it.

"Ling, I got myself a bag for the event, what do you think ?"

I said bring out the bag.

I noticed her expression change as soon as she saw the bag.

"This is a knock off, why did you get this kind, it's humiliating to take this out.

There are three categories of items.

The original, the knock off and the least category of knockoffs. 

This bag is the least of knock offs and it is sometimes given out as a gift to humiliate, don't get yourself something like ever again sis."
