Reincarnated With The Designer Martial Soul

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: A Fruitful Harvest

Lin Feng, after killing the two Qi Refining-stage wolves, didn't rush back to join Mei Ling and Li Wei. He knew appearing too quickly would raise suspicions—how could he explain defeating two powerful beasts so effortlessly? Even if he claimed he had managed to evade them or trick them somehow, no one would believe him. His abilities were far beyond what others expected of a cultivator at his level, and revealing even a hint of his true strength was out of the question.

So instead, Lin Feng sat cross-legged on the ground, summoning his Grade 8 Spiritual Stone Martial Soul. The faint glow of the stone pulsed softly as he drew spiritual energy from it, replenishing his depleted reserves. Though not as potent as natural recovery, the process was efficient enough to stabilize his condition.

But that wasn't all. Lin Feng summoned another Martial Soul—a Grade 9 Medicinal Pellet Martial Soul, one of the cheapest medicines available in the village. He had imported it into his Designer Panel during his earlier experiments, turning it into a usable Grade 9 Martial Soul. A warm green aura radiated from the pellet, seeping into his body and slowly healing the small wound on his shoulder as well as his internal injuries.

On top of that, he summoned yet another pellet designed specifically for stamina recovery. The soothing sensation spread throughout his body, revitalizing his exhausted muscles and calming his taxed nerves.

"Haha! With the Designer Panel, nobody can beat me. I just need time," Lin Feng chuckled softly, marveling at how overpowered his Designer Tool was. He could fight, heal, defend, manipulate elements, and more—all thanks to the endless possibilities provided by his unique system.

Speaking of possibilities, Lin Feng's gaze drifted toward the corpses of the demon wolves lying nearby. Their lifeless bodies reminded him of an idea he'd been pondering for some time now.

"Could dead beasts work?" he wondered aloud. After all, he had once attempted to import a live chicken into his panel, but it hadn't worked. Perhaps dead creatures, stripped of their vitality, might be different.

Gazing at the bloodied remains, Lin Feng felt a wave of nausea wash over him. The metallic scent of blood and the sight of torn flesh made his stomach churn. This was the first time he had killed, and though adrenaline had kept him focused during the battle, the aftermath hit him hard. Coming from Earth—a peaceful world compared to this brutal one—the act of taking lives weighed heavily on his conscience.

Still, Lin Feng understood that survival in this cruel world required adaptation. Shaking off his discomfort, he steeled himself and opened his Designer Panel, attempting to import one of the wolf corpses.

Whoosh!

The corpse began to dissolve into streams of light, slowly being pulled into the panel. However, the strain on Lin Feng's mind grew exponentially with each passing moment. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as his brain felt heavier and heavier, threatening to overwhelm him.

"No… I can't take it yet with my current cultivation base," Lin Feng muttered through gritted teeth. "But if I remove some useless Martial Souls and make space, I might be able to do it."

Without hesitation, he deleted several low-grade Martial Souls from his panel—the leather armor, sword, daggers, medicinal pellets, and other redundant abilities. These were nothing rare; they were barely Grade 9 Martial Souls, easily replaceable should he ever need them again.

Whoosh!

The moment he freed up enough space, the wolf corpse vanished completely, appearing within his Designer Panel. Lin Feng sighed in relief, though his mind still felt bloated from the effort.

"Haha! This trip was worth it," he laughed, opening the panel to edit the imported wolf. Using his imagination, he redesigned its appearance, transforming it into a sleek, sky-blue creature with glowing eyes and shimmering fur. It looked majestic, almost ethereal—a stark contrast to the grotesque corpse it had once been.

"Let's see… how strong it is!" Lin Feng grinned, eager to test his newly acquired Martial Soul. But before he could summon it, footsteps echoed from the side, startling him.

Quickly standing up, Lin Feng gripped his sword tightly, his expression wary as he turned to face the intruder.

"Well, well! Kiddo, you managed to kill them?" The Hunting Elder emerged from the shadows, his eyes wide with amazement—and a hint of suspicion. Killing two Qi Refining-stage wolves in such a short amount of time seemed impossible, even for someone like Lin Feng.

"Haha! How could I?" Lin Feng lied smoothly, lowering his sword with a sheepish smile. "I barely managed to beat one, and the other got scared and ran away."

"Oh! That makes sense," the elder replied, glancing at the single corpse lying nearby. Satisfied with the explanation, he nodded approvingly. "Good job, kid. Not bad for someone your age. Now hurry up and dissect the corpse while we still have time. Take the valuable parts—the fangs, claws, pelt, and core. They'll fetch a good price back in the village."

Lin Feng nodded, following his instructions. He was very short of money and this came at the right time.

"Is there any trouble? Even for you?" Lin Feng couldn't resist asking, curious about the elder's earlier urgency.

"Shut up! Do as I say," the elder snapped irritably, clearly unwilling to discuss whatever burdened him. Lin Feng noticed that the elder was clutching his right arm and his mood didn't seem right, but he wisely chose not to press further.

A short while later, they regrouped with Mei Ling and Li Wei, who had already finished dissecting the remaining wolves. Both carried sacks filled with valuable materials, their expressions weary but triumphant.

"Oh! You didn't die? Did Father save you?" Li Wei sneered, raising an eyebrow as he eyed Lin Feng's relatively unscathed state.

"Shut up! He killed one and chased the other," the Hunting Elder interjected sharply, silencing his son with a glare before dragging the group onward.

As they walked, Mei Ling couldn't help but glance at Lin Feng in admiration. He was strong, talented, humble, and responsible—a rare combination in someone so young. Her gaze softened slightly as she thought about his only apparent weakness: his seemingly weak Martial Souls.

"What a pity…" she murmured under her breath, shaking her head sympathetically.

Sensing her gaze, Lin Feng smirked playfully. "Am I that handsome?" he teased, chuckling lightly.

"You…" Mei Ling blushed, averting her eyes awkwardly.

"Haha!" The mood lightened as the Hunting Elder laughed heartily, enjoying the banter between the two youngsters. Only Li Wei remained silent, lost in thought as he tried to piece together how Lin Feng had managed to defeat a Qi Refining-stage wolf so effortlessly.

Soon, they met up with the second group, who were also waiting impatiently to return home. Like Lin Feng's team, the other youngsters carried sacks brimming with beast parts, their faces etched with exhaustion. Clearly, their journey had been equally challenging.

"Move on!" the Hunting Elder commanded, leading the combined group forward in a tight formation.

As they marched, Lin Feng observed the subtle changes in everyone's demeanor. Gone were the wide-eyed novices who had entered the forest mere hours ago. In their place stood determined, battle-hardened teenagers, each carrying the weight of newfound experience.

It had been a fruitful trip—one where they had all learned valuable lessons about survival, teamwork, and the harsh realities of their world.

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the village as the weary group finally returned. The gates stood open, welcoming them back after what felt like an eternity in the wilds. Villagers milling about paused to watch curiously as the youngsters trudged through, their sacks heavy with spoils and their faces smeared with dirt and dried blood.

The Hunting Elder halted the group just outside the training grounds, his stern expression softening slightly as he surveyed the tired but triumphant faces before him. "You all did well today," he began, his voice carrying both pride and authority. "For your first real hunt, you've proven yourselves capable of handling danger and working together under pressure. That's no small feat."

His gaze swept across the group, lingering briefly on Lin Feng. Though outwardly neutral, there was a flicker of curiosity in his eyes—perhaps even respect—as he recalled how quickly Lin Feng had managed to dispatch one of the Qi Refining-stage wolves. Shaking off the thought, he continued, "But don't let this success go to your heads. There's still much room for improvement."

He raised a finger, ticking off points as he spoke. "First, teamwork. Some of you relied too heavily on individual strength instead of coordinating with your teammates. Remember, survival isn't always about brute force—it's about strategy and synergy."

"Second," he added, pointing at Li Wei, who flinched instinctively, "don't underestimate your opponents. Even weaker beasts can overwhelm you if you're careless. Stay vigilant at all times."

Finally, his gaze settled on Mei Ling, who straightened under his scrutiny. "And lastly, resourcefulness. Use your environment to your advantage. Don't waste energy needlessly when clever tactics can achieve the same result."

With that, he dismissed them with a curt nod. "Take tonight to rest and recover. Tomorrow, we begin preparing for next week's trials. Work harder, push yourselves further, and maybe—just maybe—you'll stand a chance against stronger foes."

His squad followed him as he turned to leave, their footsteps fading into the distance. Left behind, the youngsters exchanged glances, unsure whether to feel relieved or anxious about the elder's parting words.

As the group dispersed, the youngsters began bidding each other farewell. Some promised to meet again soon, while others simply nodded politely before heading home. Lin Feng lingered near the edge of the group, ready to slip away unnoticed. However, just as he turned to leave, Mei Ling approached him, holding out a sack filled with beast parts.

"This is for you," she said softly, her tone firm yet kind. "You contributed by helping me take down those wolves. It's only fair you get a share."

Lin Feng hesitated for a moment, surprised by her gesture. He hadn't expected anyone to acknowledge his role so openly, especially since he had deliberately downplayed his contributions earlier. But Mei Ling's expression left no room for argument.

"Thanks," he replied with a small smile, accepting the sack without protest.

She nodded approvingly, then glanced toward Li Wei, who stood sulking nearby. Ignoring him completely, she turned back to Lin Feng. "Goodbye for now. See you around." With that, she walked away, her steps light despite the long day's exhaustion.

Li Wei watched Mei Ling leave, but he didn't care about her. Turning his attention back to Lin Feng, he strode forward, his posture stiff with barely concealed frustration.

"You won today," he admitted grudgingly, his voice low enough that only Lin Feng could hear. "But don't think this means anything. Next time, I'll win—I'll make sure of it." His fists clenched as he added, "I'll train harder, fight smarter, and crush whatever advantage you think you have."

Lin Feng met his gaze calmly, unfazed by the thinly veiled threat. "Do your best," he replied evenly, his tone devoid of mockery or arrogance. "I'll be waiting."

Li Wei scowled, clearly dissatisfied with Lin Feng's nonchalant response, but he said nothing more. Spinning on his heel, he stormed off, muttering under his breath about revenge and proving himself.
