Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 531: Retarded Protagonists

With Xu Feng flashing the "yeah sign" with his fingers, Brian soon came to a realization.

It wasn't that Xu Feng was purposely stalling and striking a conversation to test him. Rather, Xu Feng had been deliberately manipulating the situation, especially the timing of the first two attacks.

They were not done to simply make him worry but also to gain information.

However, Brian was positive it can't be just that simple. These two reasons were crystal clear on the surface, and not enough reason for Xu Feng to delay so much.

'Wait a minute…' Suddenly, a horrified thought popped up in his mind.

Brian glanced at his messages and realized not a single one of the barricade group or the one in charge of the trap formation had replied to him.

"You've got to be kidding me, right?" He twitched one of his eyes as he opened the Guild List, only to notice they were all offline.

In the Divine World, after a player had been killed in a certain number and was left with no revival item or people resurrecting them, they would be forcibly logged out.

They were barred from logging in for a certain amount of time, and once they were eligible to re-login, they would be transported to a safe location they had last been in.

For so many to be offline despite the fact that they were besieging, Brian understood Xu Feng must have his people ambushed them and killed them in advance during their conversation.

"You were toying with me eh?" Brian laughed bitterly at Xu Feng.

"Not toying with you." Xu Feng shook his head. "If I'm going to toy someone, then it would never be this simple. Right now, I'm merely repaying the favor that you gave me."

"A favor huh… you are really not afraid of our retaliation in the upcoming future."

"Regardless if I agreed to your term or not, I'm bound to become an eyesore of your Lethal Corp. In that case, I might as well deal a deadly blow to you first and then wait for the upcoming future."

Nodding, Brian couldn't argue with Xu Feng's chain of logic.

For others, Brian might really not care for their retaliation, but for someone like Xu Feng, necessary preparation must be made.

"I probably won't know where you have these many strong experts, but one thing is for sure. I'm definitely not going down without doing anything." Brian commented.

And as soon as he said that, Brian's figure disappeared from his initial position.

In the next second though, he appeared in front of Xu Feng with a poison dagger.

"Guild Leader!"

Those in the back were stupefied by Brian's sudden unannounced attack and attempted to deflect him, albeit a little too late.

Nevertheless, Xu Feng remained unfazed by the move and didn't even flinch a bit.

CLANK!

The poison dagger that was supposed to strike at Xu Feng collided with a transparent shield.

Unwilling to accept the outcome, Brian narrowed his eyes and unleashed a torrent of his skill set. His subordinates were being slaughtered without even being able to fight back, so the least he could do was kill Xu Feng once.

Otherwise, the Lethal Corp's reputation would really become a joke to the other Super Guilds.

"You can keep trying to attack me, but your attack will never go through unless you have advanced to Tier 2, Mister Brian." Xu Feng suddenly turned to him and revealed.

Startled and alarmed, Brian held his dagger tightly as he quickly distanced himself from Xu Feng.

There was a sense of disbelief concealed in his eyes. Your next read awaits at My Virtual Library Empire

"Do you have spies in the Lethal Corp?" Brian then asked suspiciously. His advancement to Tier 1 was only known to a few higher-ups, and not a single subordinate present here knew about it either.

Thus, for Xu Feng to claim that he required the strength of Tier 2 to actually harm him came as a shocker.

"Did you seriously think I won't be able to tell you just used Vanishing Blink to close the gap between us when you launched a surprise attack?" Xu Feng laughed, finding it humorous that Brian kept believing he had spies on the Lethal Corp.

If that was the truth, then he would have been even more prepared and found out who gave the green light for this blasphemy operation. The higher-ups in the Lethal Corp functioned quite differently than most.

All they needed was 3 higher-up members to agree to an operation and they could proceed with it when usually, it required at least over half of the higher-ups for a major operation.

Nevertheless, Xu Feng should have kept on lying instead of speaking the truth. After all, whenever he spoke the truth, not a single damn soul believed a word of his.

"It seems like our Lethal Corp needs some in-depth investigation." Brian narrowed his eyes and exclaimed.

"Our Lethal Corp lost this time because of spies and foolish work of our intelligence network, but don't think this will be the end of it. This suffering and humiliation, we will remember it to heart." He continued, still sending out verbal threats at this stage.

"Yeah yeah, I've heard enough of those in my past life. You're going to spout those villainous third-rate lines and then escape, right?" Xu Feng waved his hand in annoyance.

The words were extremely precise, prompting Brian to be unable to retort it.

He indeed planned on retreating for now. Retreating was not a cowardly move or a proclamation of their defeat, but rather a tactic and great strategy.

As Brian used Vanishing Blink to escape, Xu Feng didn't even make a move to stop him.

"Are we seriously letting him go just like that?" Carmen pursed her lips and asked in disbelief.

"This is quite a cliche and cringe scenario if you ask me." Zhao Kai also chimed in, finding this kind of situation really a nuisance. The enemy came to attack them but got away scot-free without any repercussions.

How frustrating was that?

Meanwhile, Xu Feng sighed softly and turned to them. "Who said anything about letting him escape? Do I look like those retarded protagonists you watch in dramas or read in novels that always let the enemy get away?"
