Chapter 621: Situation Changed
After the request of wanting to be deployed to Planet Zaun to further his research, Xu Feng was practically ghosted.
The request he sent was still listed as processing, which meant that the higher-ups, or more specifically, Harvey, were considering the pros and cons.
Since that was the case, Xu Feng also didn't idle around and did nothing during those days.
Aside from constantly trying to merge the collected samples from Cole into coming up with some unknown virus, he also started synthesizing and creating more of the Paralyze Syringe.
For now, that was his only weapon viable for his protection. Not to mention, the people didn't seem stingy and allowed him to continue to request the required herbs.
Previously, the original Michael was researching Nebula Fern as a hope to replace the locked Plasma Fern.
Both herbs stemmed from the same family, but it was just a pity that Plasma had a unique characteristic that enabled it to put a body's immune system to sleep temporarily when exposed for the first time.
When Xu Feng thought of that, his hands suddenly paused. 'The Plasma Fern characteristic… what if there's something else in the same family branch?'
Plasma Fern herb was already a thoroughly investigated and analyzed herb, with all the information listed in the database. But what if there was actually a more related herb that shared or had an enhanced version of the Plasma Fern?
From the research data, there were three unknown properties circulating Cole's body, and it was those three unknown that had stumped him and most likely the others from the Medical Division to discover the cause.
He stood up and began opening the telecom. "Guard, I need to see Patient Cole!"
Unfortunately, Xu Feng received some bad news.
"Engineer Cole passed away just an hour ago." The guard responded. "Additionally, it's been detected that you are infected with an unknown virus."
Shortly after the guard delivered the news, the telecom on his end shut down.
Having heard such news, some might just collapse and panic immediately.
However, Xu Feng remained calm and collected. There was zero change in his expression.
'It seems like some people just want me to fail huh.'He thought to himself.
In the past few days, he had been permitted to visit Cole. During those visits, he applied some temporary treatment to delay the invasion of bacteria within his body.
Although it merely delayed the inevitable, the effect was still visible to spot that Cole was going to survive for at least a few more weeks.
Hence, to be told that he suddenly passed away when the estimated time of death wasn't even close made him believe there was foul play involved.
Not to mention, it had been detected he was infected?
What a hilarious joke!
Every time he finished visiting Cole, he would undergo a body check himself three times to ensure that he didn't contract anything.
'Room 12…' Xu Feng suddenly recalled that there was another infected patient that was placed in that room. He turned his attention to the left metallic wall and narrowed his eyes.
Since time was against him and it appeared that the trial was pushing for him to fail, he had to take a risk. So far, he had been rather compliant with the scenery, but playing safe only ended him in such a state.
'Very well, let's wreak havoc then.' He thought, stood up, and began "accidentally" covering all the pinhole cameras that he had discovered. They were hidden quite well and in places that nobody expected, which was precisely why he managed to find them.
This was the con of being a professional in their work. Because professionals only looked for the best spot that oversaw everything to place the pinhole cameras as opposed to amateurs.
After finishing covering the cameras, Xu Feng was ready to cause a massive commotion.
He still had the Frost Grenades and if combusted with flammable material, then the power alone should be enough to cause a dent.
Of course, that was after Xu Feng weakened the structure itself. He didn't inspect the structure without planning ahead after all.
'Don't blame me, but blame yourself for wanting to play foul.' He smirked and was about to initiate his plan, until the metallic door to his room opened up.
Alarmed, Xu Feng quickly retrieved a Paralyze Syringe and hid in a concealed spot, ready to ambush whoever it was.
As the silhouette of the person was approaching closer, Xu Feng was ready to make a move. Find adventures on My Virtual Library Empire
He raised his arm up and attempted to inject the Paralyze Syringe, only for the person to block and react in time, almost as if they had anticipated he would make such a move.
What made it worse was that the strength of the person was greater than him, causing him to stumble a bit backward.
"Tsk," he clicked his tongue and was ready to utilize Smoke and Frost Grenades as his next move.
However, his action paused when the person unleashed her aura and said, "Enough, Cleric Michael. I'm not your enemy."
Hearing that voice, Xu Feng recognized it, and having been restricted in place, he finally got a clear look.
"Assistant Supervisor Aera?" Confused, Xu Feng failed to comprehend why she would show up here.
Meanwhile, Aera sensed that Xu Feng no longer had any intention to attack further so she retracted her aura and said, "We'll speak later. Follow me."
Although somewhat skeptical of her behavior, Xu Feng quickly grabbed his stuff and followed her.
There wasn't a need for Aera to beat around the bushes if she wanted to eliminate him to prevent any news from leaking.
As they turned the corridor, Aera noticed a few guards patrolling nearby. She quickly extended her hand to stop Xu Feng from walking into their field of vision and remained still in their position.
Once the guards went to another path, Aera breathed a sigh of relief.
She then glanced at her tablet and searched for the emergency exit. "I'll explain once we are in the clear. But for now, we need to avoid being detected."
