Chapter 22 - Martial Arts Class
On the dusty corridor of the biology lab, Riana, having finished the conversation, showed an elegant greeting by slightly bending her knees while holding her skirt hem and said goodbye.
“Then I’ll be taking my leave now.”
“Alright, go ahead. And I expect great growth from you, knowing your talent.”
“Yes, then…”
Riana bowed her waist and disappeared down the stairs. Only after even the faint sound of her footsteps could no longer be heard did I turn to look at ‘Kama’ standing modestly beside me.
Let me say it again, not ‘me’ but ‘Kama’.
I was currently in Aria’s form, so there’s no need to explain who this Kama is.
“Hmm, you did quite well, Mu. I can fully trust and leave it to you.”
“Thank you, Mother!”
“Now your speech has become fluent too, so there’s nothing to worry about.”
Mu. Her full name is Muite.
Until yesterday, she was just a newly created homunculus without even a name, but now she was a homunculus who had received a name from me, learned through study, and grown enough to perfectly play my substitute role in just a few hours.
When I praised Mu, who had just perfectly acted as a whiny sister during the confrontation with Riana, Mu rubbed her head against my hand, pleased.
An action just like a young child. It can’t be helped since she’s not even a day old.
Although her body is that of an adult, there hasn’t been enough time for her mind to grow into an adult yet.
So I should be happy just with her performing exactly as taught like this for now.
But I can’t always indulge Mu’s childishness. Checking the clock, it was about time, so I removed my hand from Mu’s head that I had been patting and opened my mouth slightly.
“Avatar.”
With that murmur, a semi-transparent window appeared in front of me. I touched the character with light green hair there.
[Do you want to select Fighter – Yujia?]
“Select.”
The moment I spoke, my body changed instantly.
A light green ponytail with a refreshing impression at a glance, with a height not much different from Aria’s. The eyes were amber-colored, different from Riana’s golden eyes, and as if to show that she belonged to the fighter class, lightweight knuckle gloves were worn on both hands.
Yujia’s body, which I had rarely changed into even after coming here. Unlike other bodies, I moved Yujia’s slightly awkward body a few times before completely separating from Mu.
“I have to go teach class now, so you can handle things on your own, right? Change into a comfortable body and go to the professor’s office that matches that body.”
“Yes! Then I’ll go in Mother Meiyel’s body.”
My only class today is the martial arts class. Since it was almost class time, I asked Mu to fill in one spot for me, and Mu nodded without hesitation at my request and changed her body.
Unlike me who was briefly enveloped in light and changed, Mu’s body bubbled up as if swelling and then shrunk.
And when the adjustment was finished, Mu’s appearance was identical to Meiyel that I had been yesterday, down to the last detail.
I guess she prefers transforming into Meiyel’s appearance a bit more since Meiyel was the first person she saw when she was born.
Seeing Mu change into Meiyel without a moment’s hesitation, I smiled awkwardly, but after checking the clock and realizing it was really time to go, I ran to the stairs.
“Then I’ll leave it to you, Mu!”
“Yes, Mother!”
Mu answered energetically to my words as I waved my hand and shouted. I can properly convey the future schedule and strategy to Mu after the class is over.
Now there’s really not much time left until class, so I need to hurry.
It would be a big problem if I’m late again like in the swordsmanship class.
Arin was currently looking around with her slightly tense hands clasped together.
The practical training ground where the martial arts class takes place. While there were some who looked weak, there were also some who looked extremely strong.
Perhaps those who look strong are Riana from the same class over there or the boy with dark blue hair. From what she overheard, his name seemed to be Park.
But of course, the reason Arin was tense wasn’t because of them.
The reason Arin was tense was the anticipation of being able to see another sister of the respected Professor Aria. That’s why Arin was trembling with tension.
The only one of Professor Aria’s sisters Arin had seen so far was Yeonhwa working in the cafeteria, and even Yeonhwa couldn’t be found anywhere after lunch time ended.
And the same was true for Professor Aria. She disappeared as if she had never been there in the first place, so the expectation of seeing her new sister couldn’t be easily erased.
What kind of person would she be? How strong would she be? And how special would she be?
With the precedents of Professor Aria and Yeonhwa already set, questions and expectations naturally grew one after another.
“I’m excited…”
Arin unconsciously muttered in a small voice, and as if responding to that murmur, the closed door of the practical training ground was grandly smashed and flew into the training ground.
Crash───!!!
“Kyaah?!”
“Wh-what’s going on suddenly?!”
“Waaah!”
The door suddenly breaking and flying in. Naturally, in a situation no different from an attack, numerous thoughts flashed through Arin’s mind.
The day of the demon attack was just yesterday. And the invading demons were killed by Yeonhwa. Then could it be that they came to avenge their comrades?
‘If it’s demons like yesterday, what are my chances of winning? What about the other kids here? No, is it really demons to begin with?’
Her hand slowly moves to the sword at her waist. Arin was thinking of immediately running and swinging her sword if it really was demons, but the moment she saw the person walking in confidently with hands in pockets, she had no choice but to take her hand off the sword.
A light green ponytail swaying just below the shoulders like her own, and amber-colored eyes taking in the students. Lastly, the tights-like outfit accentuating her figure.
Her, with her hands in the pockets of the coat worn over it. The reason Arin took her hand off the sword the moment she saw her was simple.
‘I guess I was too sensitive.’
That aura she had felt from Yeonhwa yesterday too. Because she felt that same aura, homogeneous with Professor Aria, from her as well.
To put it more simply, an aura that seemed to be saying, “I am Aria’s sister!” was strongly emanating from her.
It seems she had unknowingly become very on edge because of what happened yesterday.
Arin concluded this and stood in her place normally again, and the woman who had entered by breaking the door looked around at everyone with her hands still in her pockets and smiled, showing her teeth.
And then the words that came out of her opened mouth were:
“Nice to meet you all. I’m Yujia. I’m Yujia who will be teaching you martial arts from today.”
These words strongly rekindled Arin’s expectation that had briefly gone out.
“Mother Meiyel’s body… feels calming…”
Around the time when Yujia was in the middle of teaching the martial arts class, Mu, who had been asked by her to wait in the professor’s office, was walking towards her office in Meiyel’s form.
“Hey, that’s Professor Meiyel over there.”
“Oh, it really is. It’s the first time seeing her outside of class time…”
“Is she going to her office?”
While walking, there were students whispering and pointing at Mu around her, but Mu continued to move her short legs without bothering to turn her gaze.
She judged that there was no need to pay attention since they were probably students taking Meiyel’s magic class.
In the first place, if it was really something necessary, they would approach her directly instead of chattering from afar.
So Mu opened the door of the main building and entered, and only then did she let out a small sigh at the somewhat reduced gazes.
“Mother always received such burdensome gazes…”
Mu was created as a homunculus by Meiyel and simultaneously gained knowledge about them through the blood of five people she received, but that was only knowledge about their bodies.
As Mu had not inherited the memories of them, that is, her mothers, she felt respect growing as she thought that her mothers must have always lived under such gazes.
If someone knew about these feelings, they might ask why she feels emotions despite being a homunculus, but Mu could answer such a question with certainty,
Although she definitely defined herself as a machine that follows orders, Mu was nevertheless a being capable of autonomous thought born through Meiyel’s consideration.
Aria, Yujia, Kama, Meiyel, Yeonhwa, and Mu herself. Although she had six bodies, the mind that became her was clearly her own.
“…That’s enough of these headache-inducing thoughts. I should go fulfill Mother’s words…”
Pressing her head that had started to throb after unnecessarily complex thoughts, Mu resumed her steps that had momentarily stopped.
The goal was still Meiyel’s professor’s office.
Now that the short legs were starting to feel uncomfortable, Mu was about to fly with magic like Meiyel had done yesterday, but just as she was about to swing her staff, she abruptly stopped her hand at the face of a girl seen far away through the window.
“That girl…”
Although she hadn’t been told properly yet, it was in the memories that Mother had taught her last night.
A girl on the list of the most important students in the academy where she would start working from today.
Since Mu’s own memory couldn’t be wrong, she remembered that the girl’s name was Kana.
Mother had said that she was a girl whose self-esteem had lowered due to yesterday’s class. At the same time, she said the girl was currently carrying a demon parasite, making her no different from the eyes of the demons.
And unlike other important students, the so-called representative characters, there was something she had heard about how to respond to Kana, so Mu put away her staff and opened the main building’s door again to go out.
Then she went to a place where no one could see her, spread a barrier just in case, and transformed her appearance.
The form she changed into was Yeonhwa. As her bubbling body boiled over once, Mu’s appearance changed in the blink of an eye from Meiyel’s body to Yeonhwa’s.
“Hmm, shall we go?”
Feeling her body become even lighter as the robe disappeared, Mu leisurely moved her feet towards Kana in the distance.
There was still time left until Mother’s class ended. If she finished the work in advance, she would probably be praised again.
