Chapter 25 - Know Your Enemy and Know Yourself, and You Will Win(2)

Meiyel’s office. I was sitting in a chair, looking at Mu kneeling in front of me with both hands raised.

“Mu, what did I tell you?”
“You told me to go to mother’s office.”
“And yet… you disobeyed my order and approached Kana first. Do you know what you did wrong?”
“…Yes.”

I clearly told her to quietly go to the office, but she went out on her own assumptions and made contact with Kana. Not only that, she even gave advice to Kana based on what she had vaguely heard from me.

No matter how much I used Yuok’s brain and mercury as ingredients to allow autonomous action, this was clearly wrong behavior as a ‘homunculus’, so I pointed it out to Mu and she also acknowledged it and answered obediently.

As punishment for disobeying orders, she had been kneeling with her hands raised for 30 minutes.

Mu was maintaining her posture without the slightest movement, but her body twitched slightly as if it was stiff, and looking at Mu like that, I took a deep breath.

“Haah…”

Honestly, when I heard the story, I couldn’t just scold Mu one-sidedly.

From Mu’s account, even though she acted without proper guidance, she had definitely restored Kana’s lowered self-esteem and perfectly solved the problem, so in effect, she had done what I was supposed to do.

The result would have been no different from if I had given proper orders and executed them, so the reason I was scolding her now was just because of Mu’s rash action.

And Mu seemed to have clearly repented for her mistake with this punishment, so it seemed about time to give her a carrot instead of a stick.

“Mu, get up and come here.”
“Yes, mother.”

At my words, Mu trembled slightly but slowly walked towards me. It seemed she thought I was going to scold her more.

Perhaps the shock lasted a bit longer since it was the first time I scolded her.

I gently placed my hand on Mu’s head to calm her down, as she was trembling so pitifully small.

“I scolded you just now because I was upset that you acted on your own, but still, you did well, Mu. You solved it perfectly even though I hardly told you anything.”
“Mother…!”

Mu teared up, moved by my patting hand. Seeing her so happy, it seemed I would need to praise her often in the future to use her more efficiently.

For now, since it’s a relationship of master and tool, parent and child, I should treat her kindly.

Mu rubbed her head against my hand like a purring cat. Since she currently had Meiyel’s appearance, Meiyel’s unique fluffy hair felt quite nice.

After patting her head for about 10 minutes to match the punishment I had given, I took my hand away and faced Mu, who had already returned to her usual energetic expression.

“Then shall we start making proper plans for the future now, Mu?”
“Yes, mother!”

Now that the martial arts class was over, there were no more schedules, so it was time to seriously think about the future, make plans, and act.

And for that purpose, we quietly started a meeting now, in the professor’s office with just the two of us.

The quest following the Demon Signal Flare quest was, as I mentioned before, the Falling Sky Island quest. And after that, there are a total of 18 demon-related quests until the Human-Demon War.

Each one was a quest deeply related to the Human-Demon War, so all of them needed to be carefully planned, but what we needed to focus on right now was the Sky Island quest.

The quests after that would only be properly solved if the Sky Island quest operation ended normally.

It’s said that if the first button isn’t properly fastened, the subsequent things will also get tangled in order.

And since I created Mu to solve these demon-related quests, I started explaining all the details of the Sky Island quest to Mu one by one.

After explaining for about 15 minutes.

Mu, who understood my explanation in one go with the homunculus’s unique excellent intelligence, nodded and summarized my explanation.

“In short, mother’s words mean that some of the demon executives are trying to hijack the Sky Island and drag it to the airspace of the Puhara Kingdom to crash it, right?”
“That’s right, exactly. I’d like to just cut the island and solve it, but we absolutely must capture those demon executives.”
“I see…”

After I answered Mu, who summarized the explanation I gave, Mu let out a thoughtful sound and closed her mouth.

In fact, the way to solve this quest was simple.

At the time when I did this quest in the game, it was impossible because my level wasn’t high, my equipment wasn’t great, and there was no autonomy, but now I could easily solve the quest by cutting the Sky Island with a sword or destroying it with magic.

However, the reason I didn’t choose such an easy method was to somehow capture the demon executives at the initial opportunity. It was to make future events as easy as possible while the other side was ignorant about us.

If we could capture all the demon executives appearing in this quest, it would be tens of times easier to prevent the Human-Demon War.

But Mu, who still had no knowledge about demons, tilted her head and asked me:

“Are the demon executives such important figures?”
“Yes, they’re incredibly important. Important enough that I have to use all my strength to catch them.”

As you can hear just from the name, demon executives were those sitting in very high positions among the demons.

There are a total of 5 of them.

In order, Idea of Sorcery, Isolde of Magic, Morgan of Demon Sword, Pensia of Moonlight, and Ar of Calamity, consisting of three women and two men.

If you ask roughly what position they hold, I could answer that they’re right below the Demon King, who is the head of the demons.

Most of the demon race operates by their hands, and hundreds of millions of demon troops move under their control.

Of course, even they absolutely obey the Demon King, but anyway, that’s how important the demon executives are to the demons.

And there’s no quest where demon executives appear as much as the Falling Sky Island quest.
It’s a quest where as many as 4 demon executives appear at once, and since it’s an extremely early quest, they know almost nothing about me.

It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. A first and last chance that will never come back once missed.

“But of course, the executives are strong.”
“If mother says so… how strong are they exactly?”
“Well? I’m not sure, but maybe enough to last 5 minutes in a direct fight with Aria?”
“…That strong, huh.”

The demon executives have level differences between individuals, but the lowest level, Isolde, was level 95. Above that, levels 96, 97, 98, and 99.

As raid bosses that could only be caught in the very late game, they were quite strong, so for an average level 90 user, it would take 10 minutes with a 5-person raid.

Of course, I was a level 100 pay-to-win user, so I could solo them in 5 minutes. In other words, they were just slightly annoying mobs to me.

However, even this seemed incredibly strong to Mu, who knew Aria’s strength.

Mu’s voice hardened slightly. Certainly, the executives are stronger compared to other guys, and we can’t properly capture them if it takes 5 minutes per person.

Probably after dealing with and binding one, the others would have already escaped.

Even if we could comfortably catch two with Mu, who could have equal strength to me, my wish was to catch all four executives gathering on the Sky Island if possible.

Therefore, we need to prepare to lay traps in advance for that purpose. Using Arin and Kana, who are currently acting as the eyes of the demon executives.

“How do we use those two… you mean?”
“Well, it’s simple.”

The way to use Arin and Kana to capture all the demon executives. This was so simple that there was no need to explain.

If they are only monitoring us through Arin and Kana, can’t we use that to our advantage and separate them from each other?

If we separate them perfectly so that they don’t know about each other even when I and Mu catch one each, theoretically we could catch all four. And what’s needed for this is to make the demon executives definitely wary of me.

If we make them wary of me and think of me as the entity they need to deal with first, given the personality of the demon executives who have unparalleled confidence in their own abilities, they will move in one way.

‘Each of us will take care of one person.’

If we make them wary of the other bodies working as professors except Yeonhwa (Aria, Yujia, Kama, Meiyel), they will be distributed one to each, and while holding two with disposable clones, I and Mu will capture the remaining two, then join the clones to catch the remaining two, it would be perfect.

“Then we need to use Arin and Kana to let them know about mother’s abilities in advance.”
“Honestly, I think it’s a bit childish, but that’s exactly it.”

This is why I said it was simple enough not to need explanation. Honestly, this was the only strategy I could come up with in the current situation.

But it’s an effective strategy even if it’s simple. It’s a strategy based on information about the demon executives, so although it looks sloppy, it’s effective.

Mu was originally the type to believe me even if I said black was white, so she would follow without any objection.

As if to prove this, Mu ended her thoughtful sound without hesitation, but it seemed Mu also had some questions.

Mu looked at me carefully and raised her hand to ask:

“Um, mother. But what are you planning to do with the captured demon executives?”
“Huh?”

What will I do with the captured demon executives? At Mu’s sudden question, I was silent for a moment.

Once they’re captured?

Unlike the promised representative characters of the future, the demon executives are a completed force that can be used immediately.
If such things fall into my hands, isn’t the next step obvious?

“I’ll threaten them, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll brainwash them and use them to fight against the demons.”

If you can draw a good enemy card, isn’t it proper to use it until it’s consumed and gone?
