Chapter 10: 10 turning point 1
"Alright, record all the songs I listen to from now on," he said.
"Alright, mister," it replied.
He took out his mobile and started to scroll through his videos, laughing while watching a few funny ones.
He was scrolling and scrolling, repeatedly watching all the videos, liking a few, and saving some.
There were a few strange news stories about higher-rank chip users having abilities or something, and there were also a few novels about them mind-wiping and becoming the hidden players who control the world from the shadows.
"What is the chance that people would be controlled, bot?"
He said while scrolling through the videos.
"I don't know, Mr.," it replied to him in its usual tone.
Later at night, when he got hungry, he sneakily went down to eat food or whatever was left to resolve his growing hunger pangs.
Alas, his trip down was a waste as his mother saw him and said, "Join us for dinner, waste fellow."
He froze and started to stutter. I don't know, maybe he still fears his mom.
Soon he entered, "Hello, Mom, Dad, and what's up, bro?" He saw them and began to talk.
"How many days longer won't you go to your college, my son?" his father cut his speech in half.
"I... I... don... 't... k... n... o... w..." he was stuttering, trying to say something, but his nervousness and fear were preventing him from saying things he wanted to say. This him, unlike the original him, was rejected. He was the outcast of outcasts—a weeb, a glutton, and especially afraid to speak to people.
"Sigh, hon, just give him his food," his father turned to his wife and said that then gazed back at his eldest son, who had changed so much from his childhood to now. A shut-in, he had many problems, but for his family, he tried his best to provide and protect them—his precious family.
He saw him and said, "You can tell me your problems when you're ready, son, but never be comfortable and stagnant in the past. Only the fittest survive and thrive in this world, so try your best to grow up and be better," he said to his son and left the house, taking his suitcase to work.
His mom, while chiding and scolding him, gave him the food. He took the food and quickly left for his room like a cheetah.
In it, he sat at the table and started to eat, taking one bite at a time and remembering what his father had said to him. He felt he could be himself again. This feeling was one of joy. The way his father said those words to him made him feel like it was the father he originally had—the father of his time, the one who had encouraged him in every step, tried everything he could for his son's growth, and the parent he respected.
"Hey, A...I—no, I mean Sirius—play a happy song for me. I feel a bit good today. It feels like a good or happy day for me. It feels like it can never go wrong."
"Sir, we only recorded depressing songs mostly," it replied to him.
"Bull*&%*! I need to record other types of songs in the future and now. Though, I'd better play some games. Sigh, it has been a month since I've gone to college," he said to himself. The last sentence was a bit self-deprecating, but it could be seen that his mood wasn't that foul today.
He started to browse the internet and saw many new types of tech like cyber trucks, flying cars, and the special neuro-police force capturing a few rogues. These were just some side stuff he watched for a few hours or more. Later, he started to read and listen to audiobooks for a few novels like Immortal's Way to Longevity, Simulation of Fantasy, or Grand Faith of Immortal Gu.
He knew a few were on hiatus in his previous world, but here they were completed. Even when the author died, many or several AIs using collective knowledge simultaneously completed the novel. It was completed by a strange fellow who hacked the entire neuro and other countries' capable AIs to simulate and complete the novel. By generating and building those scenarios, out of hundreds of different outcomes, he posted the controversial one. Many countries tried to ban it, but alas, how could someone who hacked a country allow any of that? He just published it on many different websites and big apps. Many fans of cultivation novels loved it.
While completing the Gu novel, something came into his mind. Now it had been 1 month and 10 days since he'd gone to college. Damn, this was like some sort of fever dream.
"I've always known I would enter this state whenever I read any novel or anything like that. I would forget myself, as if I didn't exist, and imagine every scenario in a third-person perspective. Due to the current tech, the immersion is even more detailed. It's like being high, and only after it ends would I feel myself and the world around me," he was thinking to himself.
1 month and 15 days. Now he had read it all and started to feel his head hurt. Even here, your eardrums would hurt if you continuously listen to audio at 6x speed. He felt really happy.
1 month, 29 days.
A call came from the university to him. "Hello, are you Mr. #$^%^65?"
"Yes, you are speaking to 33$#$%%$%," he said to the person.
"Don't worry, boy, we have caught those bullies," he said in a calm tone. "They will never disrupt you again."
"Is it tr...u...e...?" he said in surprise and a sense of relief.
"Yes, and with the leave you have taken, you can finally come to your second home. We will never tolerate any sort of injustice," the person said to him. "You have 10 days more as an apology from our side, so take your time and come to college." And he cut the call.
Our MC was in a daze.
2 months, day 1.
He tried to wear a uniform, but his hand trembled, so he left it and took a rest.
