Revolution in the Ninja World

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: A Mysterious Codename from the East

Two days later, the results of the Chunin exams were announced.

Due to the continuous wars, the current skill level of Konoha's Genin was far superior to that of peacetime, so a total of sixteen Genin passed the Chunin exams this time and were promoted to Chunin.

Habara was naturally among them.

One could only say that the rule against ninjas skipping ranks was a good system; otherwise, Habara should have been more than just a Chunin.

During the two days of waiting for the exam results, Habara left Konoha for a while. He quietly retrieved the things he had previously hidden outside the village… Since they were hidden well enough, they certainly weren't picked up by anyone else.

The events that occurred during the Chunin exams meant that Habara had entered the sights of some of Konoha's higher-ups, but that didn't mean he had become a famous ninja. On the contrary, he was still largely unknown throughout Konoha, since he hadn't done anything major from beginning to end.

If he had directly killed those two Uchiha ninja during the Chunin exams, then he would have certainly become "infamous." However, neither Uchiha Shisui nor the other person had suffered any fatal injuries… Shisui had only taken a kick, and the bystander who almost took a Rasenshuriken was saved by the Fourth Hokage.

So, they would only need to lie in the hospital for a few days before they could be up and about again. As for the reaction of the proud Uchiha after being slapped in the face… Honestly, there was nothing to say. What could they do if they were inferior in skill?

In short, after demonstrating his strength and revealing some "unorthodox" remarks, Habara felt that he was likely to be assigned some very dangerous missions. After all, "the capable do more work," and some people had no attachments, making them perfect "tools."

It's important to remember that although Habara had been living peacefully in Konoha for a considerable amount of time, the war was still ongoing.

But the "cutting-edge missions" he envisioned didn't appear.

A day later.

That day, when Habara went to a village training ground to get some exercise and returned to the inn, he found a sealed letter on the desk in his room.

It was just a letter. Habara briefly examined it and felt that it wasn't dangerous… In Konoha, surely no one would be so wicked as to put explosive tags in an envelope.

"So how do I open this?"

Habara picked up the envelope and found that the seal was special and secure. He tried to release his chakra, and the seal of the envelope naturally opened.

Then, Habara took out the stiff paper letter and saw the contents written on it.

"This is…"

It seemed that the demonstration effect of the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken was even better than he had imagined.

Inside the envelope was a very important offer; it came from Konoha's most core department.

Habara held the letter in his hand, then sat down on the edge of the bed. After thinking for a moment, he realized there was nothing to hesitate about.

...

Not far from the Hokage's office building, there was an ordinary-looking building. It had small doors and narrow windows, and usually, no one went in or out. At first glance, it was unremarkable, but upon closer inspection, it gave off a sense of heightened security.

Habara arrived at the entrance of this building and pushed the door open, entering.

Because it was enclosed with few windows and poor lighting, the interior environment was somewhat dim. After Habara entered, he found himself in a small hall, but it was empty, with no tables or chairs, and no sign of anyone.

He tried to walk forward a few steps, and then someone called out to him.

"Who's there? What do you want?"

Habara stopped in his tracks and took out his credentials:

"I'm here to report for duty."

Seemingly seeing the document in Habara's hand, a ninja wearing a mask on his face emerged from the deep passage opposite the small hall. He walked up to Habara, took the document, and after confirming that there were no problems, he looked Habara up and down and then said, "Follow me."

"Do you have to carry that ninja tool?"

As they walked deeper and lower into the building, the ninja asked.

He was probably asking about the large "sword case" Habara was carrying on his back.

"Yes. Is there a problem?"

Whether it was iron or mercury, they were common things, but carrying this lump of iron did affect Habara's combat effectiveness.

"No problem. When we're on missions, it's best not to carry anything too distinctive, but if it's a necessity, then there's nothing to be done," the ninja said.

The further they went, the tighter the security became. When they reached a sufficient depth underground, the sloping passage began to level out, and one room after another appeared before Habara.

Many ninjas were stationed here. They were uniformly dressed, with some wearing masks and others not. Some were relaxed, some were alert, and each person was in a different state.

"Takajo, your new team member has arrived."

After arriving here, the ninja called out, and another ninja who wasn't wearing a mask came over to Habara.

"Takajo" was clearly just a codename, because the ninja who came over was a tall, muscular man with a rugged face.

"Habara?"

The other party asked after seeing Habara.

"Yes," Habara nodded.

"You've decided to accept Lord Hokage's appointment?"

"Yes."

"Good, come with me."

Takajo took Habara to another separate room, and besides them, there were two other ninjas present.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Takajo. These are Batsu and Kisu. Like you, they are newcomers, and I'm the old bird serving as your team captain."

"We're about to have a shift change, so you…" Takajo looked at Habara and realized that he hadn't finished the introduction, nor had he confirmed the other thing before the shift change. "You need to confirm a codename."

Without thinking, Habara directly said, "Then let's go with ' Riku '."

"Sounds a bit awkward, but it doesn't matter… Riku, change into your gear and prepare for action."

Then Habara discovered that his equipment had already been retrieved for him. It was placed on a table in this room, so he quickly changed into this equipment, temporarily storing his personal belongings and clothes in this room, and finally put on a fox-face mask.

And the so-called "going on a mission soon" wasn't actually that soon. After another hour, Captain Takajo confirmed the time and then announced the team's departure.

With the captain in front and the three team members behind, the four of them left the underground space through a different passage in another direction. When they returned to the surface, Habara found himself inside the Hokage's office building.

The team arrived at a certain location in the building and completed the handover with another team, then began their 8-hour tactical alert duty.

That's right…

Habara had thus become a Hokage-direct Anbu Black Ops ninja.
