Rise of an Immortal

Chapter 7: Eye of the Storm

Ethan hovered over Storm began grinning and his face is inches away from hers. His striking blue eyes gleamed with amusement as he held her down and their breaths mingling.

Storm who is lying beneath him with her silver hair fanned out on the floor, took a deep breath. Then, to his surprise—she smiled.

Ethan's smirk faltered slightly. "What's so funny?"

Storm's expression didn't change, but suddenly, her eyes glowed white.

Before Ethan could react, a violent tornado formed at his side and struck him with the force of a freight train. He was launched across the room, his body smashing into the reinforced wall with enough impact to crack it.

As he peeled himself from the dented surface, Storm gracefully floated into the air, her presence now overwhelming. She extended both arms, and the atmosphere crackled with energy.

"I have to admit, Ethan," she said as her voice is carrying an authoritative edge, "you're strong. Very strong. But don't think for a second that I was giving it my all."

Ethan rolled his shoulders as his shredded shirt hung in tatters. He grinned. "So, you were holding back?"

Storm's glowing gaze locked onto him. "I didn't want to hurt you."

Ethan chuckled. "I heal and can't feel pain, remember? Hit me with everything you've got."

That was all the encouragement she needed.

The air grew chaotic, winds howling as tornadoes began forming around the room. One. Two. Three. And More.

Within moments, Ethan was surrounded by a cyclone of destruction.

From above, storm clouds darkened, lightning flashing ominously within them. Rain poured down in sheets, drenching both fighters instantly.

Then, the first lightning bolt struck.

BOOM!

Ethan didn't even flinch. His skin burned, then instantly regenerated with his adaptation making him stronger.

Storm narrowed her eyes. 'He wasn't even reacting.'

She raised her hands, and the intensity doubled.

More tornadoes formed, trapping Ethan in a prison of wind. The rain became a downpour, so heavy that visibility was nearly gone. Thunder rumbled as bolts of lightning struck him from every angle.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Ethan stood in the center of the chaos, unmoving. His body was torn apart repeatedly, but each wound healed instantly. His flesh burned away, only to regenerate stronger.

Storm didn't stop. She intensified the attack, pushing more power into the storm, forcing him to stay locked in place.

Storm watched him carefully for awhile and is fascinated. "You really don't feel pain, do you?" she mused.

Ethan's lips twitched into a smirk. "Nope." Any normal person can't even hear her with all the tornados surrounded them, but Ethan is not a normal person.

Storm hummed while floating higher. "That's dangerous."

She extended both hands, her eyes glowing even brighter. The winds screamed louder, the tornadoes tightened, trapping Ethan completely. Lightning poured from the heavens, slamming into him relentlessly.

Ethan's entire body was being torn apart and rebuilt at a rapid pace. His clothes were completely shredded—every last piece incinerated.

And still, he stood there as his body began to heal him.

Storm exhaled and is impressed. "Fine," she murmured. "Let's see if you can handle this."

Raising her hands skyward, she gathered an enormous charge of electricity. The dark clouds roared in response, gathering into a singular mass of destruction.

Then, she brought her hands down.

BOOOOOOOM!

A colossal lightning strike engulfed Ethan, shaking the entire room. The force shattered the air, sending shockwaves across the battlefield.

When the energy finally dispersed, Storm landed softly on the ground, watching the aftermath.

Ethan lay in the middle of the destruction, steam rising from his body. His flesh was burnt away, but within seconds, it regenerated, as perfect as ever.

His striking blue eyes flickered open, glowing faintly. He let out a slow breath before sitting up.

"Still alive?"

"You hit like a truck," he muttered.

Storm chuckled. "I wasn't trying to kill you."

Ethan scoffed. "Didn't feel like it."

Storm landed beside him and placed her hands on her hips and a small smirk playing on her lips. "So? Still think you're invincible?"

Ethan chuckled while running a hand through his wet hair. "I get it. Just because I can heal and adapt doesn't mean I can't be restrained."

Storm nodded. "Exactly. Someone like me can keep you locked in place with enough pressure. And that's just elemental powers. There's also magic, psychic abilities, and more out there that could seal you away."

Ethan frowned slightly and began thinking it over. She was right.

Previously his physicue is more powerful than Storm that's why he had an advantage but once she got serious, he was trapped.

His abilities only worked when he was being attacked. If someone sealed him in an unbreakable prison without actually harming him, he'd be stuck forever.

That… was a problem.

Storm noticed his thoughtful expression. "Strength alone isn't enough, Ethan," she said, tilting her head. "You may adapt, but if someone immobilizes you before you evolve—you're done."

Ethan exhaled before nodding. "Yeah… you're right."

Storm nodded approvingly. "Good. Lesson learned."

Then, her gaze flickered downward.

Ethan followed her eyes—only to realize he was completely naked. "Oh."

Storm arched a brow. "I have to say, I'm impressed. Quite the physique you have, Ethan."

Ethan didn't even flinch, he ran a hand through his wet blond hair, unfazed. "I'd say this is a win for you."

Storm chuckled. "I'd say the same, but considering your confidence, I doubt you see it that way."

Ethan shrugged and began walking outside, toward the lockers. "Well, if you'll excuse me, I need to find some clothes before the entire mansion sees what's beneath the 'Immortal' title."

Storm laughed, shaking her head. "Go. And Ethan?"

He paused.

"You did well."

Ethan smirked over his shoulder before disappearing into the changing room.

.....

A few hours later, inside Professor Xavier's office, Scott and Betsy sat across from him, their expressions serious.

Storm entered soon after, immediately sensing the atmosphere in the room. She had a feeling she knew what this was about.

Jean and Hank arrived next, completing the gathering of senior members of the X-Men.

Professor Xavier leaned forward slightly, his fingers interlocked. His expression was calm but thoughtful. "Scott, Betsy, you both went to the lab site. Tell us what you found."

Scott exhaled, "Not much. The explosion destroyed everything. We couldn't recover any significant data."

Betsy nodded while crossing her arms. "We also checked for survivors, but… there was no sign of anyone else. Just complete destruction."

Hank adjusted his glasses while looking at the file in front of him. "And Ethan?"

Scott exchanged a glance with Betsy before sliding a folder across the desk. "We managed to recover some records from somewhere else. His parents were normal humans, both killed in a car accident when he was young. He was placed in the foster system, bounced around a few homes. Nothing unusual in his history—at least, nothing on paper."

Storm leaned against the desk, "So he's clean?"

Scott nodded. "As far as we can tell, yes. No connections to anything suspicious."

Professor Xavier shook his head. "That's where things get interesting."

Everyone turned to him as he continued.

"I used Cerebro to look into Ethan's mind." He paused, his voice steady but thoughtful. "But when I did, it was as if I was looking at a completely normal human. No mutant gene, no abnormalities." He paused again. "Yet… I couldn't enter his mind."

A heavy silence settled over the room.

Scott frowned. "You're saying he's not a mutant?"

Jean's eyes widened. "And… you couldn't enter his mind?"

Professor Xavier nodded. "Exactly."

Hank leaned forward and is intrigued.

Professor Xavier exhaled. "I don't know what he is."

Storm, who had been listening carefully, finally spoke. "I fought him today."

Everyone turned to her.

Jean raised an eyebrow. "You fought him?"

Storm nodded. "We had a training session. At first, it was just hand-to-hand combat. He overpowered me almost immediately."

Betsy smirked. "That's not surprising."

Storm gave a small chuckle before her face turned serious. "But then we moved on to using powers. I went easy on him at first, but he kept taking my attacks without defending himself. It was like he was waiting for something."

Scott leaned forward. "And?"

Storm hesitated before continuing. "I increased the intensity. Stronger winds, lightning, tornadoes—he took them all. His body was torn apart repeatedly, but he healed instantly. Every time I hit him, he got stronger. More resistant."

Hank rubbed his chin. "That explains his power... Adaptive evolution... is that what he calls it?"

Professor Xavier nodded slowly. "A fascinating ability, but also dangerous."

Jean folded her arms. "So, what do we do?"

Professor Xavier took a deep breath. "For now, Ethan stays here. He needs to understand his powers, and so do we."

Storm crossed her arms. "Does he know about this? That he's not a mutant."

Professor Xavier gave a small, knowing smile. "Not yet. We'll tell him when the time is right."

Scott, still skeptical, tapped his fingers on the table. "And what if he becomes a threat?"

Professor Xavier's expression remained calm. "Then we will handle it. But I do not believe Ethan is dangerous by nature. He is still young, still discovering himself."

Storm sighed, leaning back. "I hope you're right."

Betsy smirked. "Either way, this just got a lot more interesting."

As the discussion settled, the X-Men exchanged glances, each lost in thought.

Ethan was an enigma—one they had yet to fully understand.

AN: Hi guys, New chapter.

So, basically Ethan is a mutant before transmigration but after it, his body changed due to fountain of youth and restored his body to peak human condition.

It altered his body and removed his X gene. So, he is now a human.
