Chapter 14:

Lin Fan's words, cold and heavy as a mountain, crushed Xiao Mei's last glimmer of hope. What remained was despair, clearly visible through the increased flow of her tears.

"N-No... P-Please... I'm begging you... Don't touch me! I'm willing to be your servant… E-Even my family will give you whatever you want. Just leave me alone… Please!" Xiao Mei pleaded desperately, her voice trembling as she slowly backed away in fear. Deep down, she knew it was all futile.

Lin Fan placed a hand on his chin, pretending to seriously consider her proposal, and replied, "Hmm… Your family doesn't possess anything I desire. Even if they did, I could simply take it. And as for becoming my servant? That's already part of a servant's duties. So, I don't see any reason to stop, do you?" His tone was gentle, an eerie contrast to the cruel words he spoke.

He continued, standing still in place, a sly smile tugging at his lips and a veiled threat lacing his voice. "I suppose you wouldn't want anything bad to happen to your father, would you? The world is full of accidents. He could suddenly be assassinated at night, or kidnapped by some deranged lunatic who tortures him day and night. Anything is possible."

The mention of her father froze Xiao Mei in her tracks. Fear and despair filled her widened eyes as she stopped retreating. Then, with a defeated tone, she began to plead even more desperately, finally accepting the dark fate looming over her. "Please don't hurt my father… I-I'll obey you… I'll do whatever you want… Just leave my father out of this. He has nothing to do with it!"

Lin Fan's delight only grew as the day's events unfolded. Such situations weren't new to him, but having the upper hand over someone of high status made them infinitely more enjoyable. In this new world, he would never grow bored—there would always be stronger people to crush under his heel!

But for the people of this world, this only meant more unending suffering. Lin Fan was a psychopath, a depraved soul who thrived on torment. He would never stop committing atrocities as long as they brought him pleasure and served his goals!

"Don't worry. As long as you're obedient, nothing will happen to your father, your family, or even you. I'm a very kind person, after all. The only two things I despise are disobedience and betrayal. As long as you don't commit either, you'll live a life of comfort with me," Lin Fan said softly, a cheerful smile adorning his face.

Xiao Mei nodded slowly in response, feeling both a sense of relief and overwhelming sorrow. To her, there wasn't much difference in her fate. She had no control over it, whether it was Yu Ming or Lin Fan. The only change was that she wouldn't be a wife—just a servant or a concubine.

'How incredible! It's so easy to grow stronger with knowledge. If I hadn't known about Xiao Mei's special body from the novel, it would've taken me at least a month and a half to break through to the Golden Core Realm. He stepped closer to Xiao Mei and extended his hand to help her up. She grasped his outstretched hand and stood beside him, her face blank and emotionless, utterly resigned to her fate.

"No, not like that. Smile… like this." Lin Fan reached out and forced a smile onto Xiao Mei's lips with his fingers. Then, in a commanding tone, he said, "Come on, keep that smile. It's an honor to be my concubine. You can't go around looking so expressionless."

"...Alright," Xiao Mei replied curtly, keeping a forced smile on her face as she obeyed Lin Fan's command.

Suddenly, Lin Fan grabbed her hair roughly and yanked her close, his expression turning cold and threatening. In a low, chilling voice, he said, "Listen carefully, you wretched whore. That arrogance you displayed with Yu Ming—I won't tolerate it. You'd better be grateful for your position as my concubine and address me as 'Young Master.' Now, smile properly. Do it!"

"Ah!" Xiao Mei let out a soft cry of pain as her head throbbed from the pull. Under Lin Fan's intense gaze, she forced a slightly better smile onto her face, desperate to avoid further punishment.

"Yes, that's more like it! Hahaha! It's better for you to be obedient—I don't enjoy hurting women, my dear. Hahaha!" Lin Fan laughed in delight, finally releasing her hair.

"Y-Yes, Young Master," Xiao Mei stammered, her voice trembling. She kept up her fake smile, though it was obviously forced. Still, out of sheer fear, she gave it her best effort after Lin Fan's scolding.

'These people only understand with cruelty!' Lin Fan thought mockingly, watching Xiao Mei's rapid change in behavior with amusement.
