Rise of the Devil's Soul

Chapter 28: We can Actually see the Stars of Others?

"The brighter the star, the more powerful the living thing. And if someone were to... well, meet an unfortunate end, their star would disappear from the formation."

Wu Xie's eyes widened in amazement. "So, we can actually see the stars of others? That's incredible!"

Dan nodded, a hint of pride in his voice. "Indeed. And as you progress and reach higher ranks in cultivation, you'll be able to see the stars of those around you."

Feeling a sense of wonder wash over him once again, Wu Xie marveled at the mysteries of this new realm. 'How many more secrets are there for me to unveil?' he wondered aloud, his mind buzzing with excitement.

With their conversation winding down, Wu Xie came back to his room and settled into his bed, the soft glow of the moonlight filtering through the window.

As the quiet of the night enveloped him, Wu Xie retrieved the book given to him by Master Fu.

With eager anticipation, he delved back into its pages, eager to absorb more knowledge about cultivation and martial arts.

However, the day's events had been a whirlwind of new experiences and emotions.

The adrenaline had worn off, replaced by a bone-deep exhaustion that tugged at his eyelids. Despite his best efforts to stay awake, Wu Xie found himself succumbing to the call of sleep.

The book slipped from his grasp, landing with a soft thud that went unnoticed as he drifted off into a deep slumber.

As he slept, his dreams were a fantastical parade of ancient techniques and legendary warriors. He saw himself executing flawless martial arts moves, his body moving with a grace and power he had never known.

He dreamt of epic battles, his hands wielding mystical powers that could vanquish the fiercest of enemies.

And in the midst of this dream-filled journey, a snore escaped Wu Xie, echoing in the quiet room.

Even in his dreams, Wu Xie couldn't escape the humorous reality of his situation - a novice cultivator, snoring away with a book of advanced martial arts techniques lying forgotten by his side.

It was a humorous contrast that would have made anyone chuckle.

But for now, the only audience to this amusing scene was the moonlight streaming in through the window, casting a soft glow on the sleeping Wu Xie and his fallen book.

The night passed peacefully, with the soft rustling of leaves outside the window and the distant chirping of crickets lulling Wu Xie into a deep and restful slumber.

The next morning arrived with a jolt for Wu Xie, quite literally. Before the sun even dared to peek over the horizon, he was rudely awakened by a sudden electric shock that shot through him like lightning.

With a startled yelp, he sat up in bed, his hair standing on end as he looked around in confusion and mild irritation.

"What in the...?" Wu Xie muttered, rubbing his eyes and trying to make sense of the situation.

Then, he noticed a mischievous glint of light from beside his pillow. There sat Wovi, the tiny creature given to him by Master Fu, with a devilish smile on his face.

"Wovi, you little troublemaker," Wu Xie grumbled, immediately knowing the source of his shock.

He picked up the tiny creature and, with a huff, tossed him under the bed, hoping to catch a few more moments of sleep.

But fate, it seemed, had other plans. No sooner had Wu Xie closed his eyes than another, stronger shock shot through him.

With a startled yelp, he leaped out of bed, glaring at Wovi with a mixture of annoyance and disbelief.

"Okay, that's it!" Wu Xie exclaimed, pointing a finger at the grinning creature. "I don't know who gave you the idea to play pranks, but we need to have a serious talk."

Wovi, however, seemed unfazed by Wu Xie's outburst. The creature continued to smile innocently, its eyes twinkling with an unmistakable hint of mischief.

With a sigh of exasperation, Wu Xie addressed Wovi again. "You're well aware that we can't leave this place," Wu Xie growled, his frustration boiling over.

"There are guards posted at every corner, every entrance. We're trapped here, Wovi. Trapped!"

His voice rose with each word, the anger evident in his tone.

"Go and tell Master Fu to change the timing of our practice," Wu Xie continued, his voice laced with bitterness.

"Right now, we're stuck within these walls like caged animals. If someone catches me leaving at this ungodly hour, I'll be punished."

Having said his piece, Wu Xie flopped back onto his bed, muttering to himself about the absurdity of creatures that give electric shocks.
