Chapter 1010 IN SHAMBLES
1010 IN SHAMBLES
NEOMA immediately turned to Hanna after confirming that the strong force headed their way was Trevor.
I can't mistake his crazy Mana for someone else.
But the Trevor Kesser who wasn't obsessed with her might be difficult to handle, so Neoma decided to retreat.
Well, we just need Hanna to deal with the Pirate Princess first.
"Are you just going to watch, Princess Neoma?" Lewis asked worriedly. "I know that Lady Hanna is strong, but the Pirate Princess…"
"Hanna will get upset if she hears you, Lewis," Neoma said while shaking her head. "Just watch— Hanna can totally beat the Pirate Princess."
I trust Hanna with all my heart, but I'm not sure how she'll fight her other version.
Fortunately, the fight started right away.
The Pirate Princess summoned her Shadow Beasts.
And Hanna…
Hmm?
What is that?
Neoma was surprised when Hanna suddenly pulled out a single-stemmed flower from her "inventory" (aka the spatial space in her shadow) that looked like a dandelion.
And then Hanna started blowing on the flower— the petals scattering in the air.
Well, to be precise, the petals actually flew towards the Pirate Princess.
And voila!
The Pirate Princess got knocked out, her summoned Shadow Beasts disappearing the moment their master fell asleep.
Pfft!
Hanna then looked up at Neoma with a proud look on her face.
Rightfully so!
Neoma smiled at Hanna and gave her a double thumbs up.
Lewis let out a gasp. "Lady Hanna cheated."
And, much to Neoma's surprise, Lewis turned to her with shaking pupils.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Princess Neoma influenced Lady Hanna in a very bad way," Lewis said, obviously horrified. "Princess Neoma taught Lady Hanna to cheat in a fight…"
"Yah," Neoma complained even though she found Lewis' reaction funny. "I did no such thing!"
Lewis looked like he didn't believe her.
Of course, Neoma felt betrayed. "Aigoo. My own son doesn't believe me. This is why they say it's useless to raise a son!"
"Stop playing, kids," Manu, who looked so done with them, scolded her. "Let's get out of here before I lose all my divine power."
***
HANNA was a bit surprised when Lord Manu brought their group to Goddess Roxana's Temple.
It was a good spot to hide, though.
The temple was empty but it was well-maintained.
I guess there are people who secretly worship Goddess Roxana. They're probably the ones maintaining this place even though half of it is already ruined.
"Since Lu and the Pirate Princess are still knocked out, let's use this opportunity to rest for a while," Neoma said while looking pointedly at Lord Manu who was already sprawled on the floor. "Someone needs to rest so bad."
"Leave me alone, Princess Neoma," Lord Manu complained, closing his eyes. "I have to use twice the divine power required to maintain this world because you all couldn't move quietly."
Oops.
Hanna and Lewis both feel ashamed.
But, of course, Neoma was unbothered and unapologetic.
"Tell me if you need divine power, Lord Manu. I'll help you," Neoma said casually. When Lord Manu just grunted as a response, the Imperial Princess turned to Hanna and Lewis. "Stay here and keep an eye on your doppelgangers. I'll just hide our presence using my Dome."
Hanna and Lewis answered at the same time.
"Yes."
"Yes, Princess Neoma."
"Oh, right," Neoma said as if she just remembered something important. "Hanna, Lewis, you're cool with letting Lu and the Pirate Princess share your memories? I need them to stop attacking us as soon as they wake up."
Right.
Neoma already asked for their permission earlier, and she was doing the same again for confirmation.
She really respects other people's boundaries.
"Yes, I'm fine with it," Hanna said while nodding. "I need the Pirate Princess to cooperate with me anyway."
Lewis already nodded in agreement, too. "I don't mind."
"Cool. Thanks, you two," Neoma said while waving her hand, his body already translucent. "I'll be back really quick."
And, just like that, Neoma disappeared.
Hanna then sat on a stone bench while Lewis stood beside her while leaning against a column. They could see 'Lu' (Lewis' version in this world) and the Pirate Princess still sleeping on the floor from where they stood.
"Lewis."
"Yes, Lady Hanna?"
"I heard what you said to Neoma earlier," Hanna said, and then she looked up at Lewis. "I didn't cheat."
Lewis' face turned red as if he was embarrassed.
"It's called catching your enemy off guard, and it worked," Hanna insisted. Fortunately, she still sounded dignified while doing so. "I knew the Pirate Princess was waiting for me to use my shadows, so I used one of the poisonous flowers that I cultivated."
Now Lewis looked horrified. "Lady Hanna poisoned the Pirate Princess?"
"Well, I secretly gave her the antidote when we were laying them down on the floor. But the flower is just like a sleeping gas, at most."
"Princess Neoma's bad influence…"
Pfft.
"Lewis, I wouldn't say I was influenced badly, but Neoma taught me that everything is fair in love and war," Hanna said. She was still smiling, but she was serious about what she was saying. "It might be unbecoming of a lady like me, but I want to live as freely as Neoma."
"Living as freely as Princess Neoma is a little dangerous…"
Hanna laughed softly, but she nodded in agreement. "Right. Maybe I'll just live as half as freely as Neoma."
Only then did Lewis look relieved.
I know Lewis loves and respects Neoma with all his heart and soul, but it's quite funny how he doesn't me to live as recklessly as Neoma.
Hanna's face disappeared at the same time Lewis stood in front of her protectively.
Everything happened fast.
The next thing Hanna knew, Lewis was already blocking Lu's sword with his arm covered with Mana.
Fast.
Lewis' other hand grabbed the Pirate Princess' collar when the Pirate Princess tried the attack Hanna with a shadow sword.
This Pirate Princess is more bad-tempered as I thought.
"Children, please calm down," Lord Manu said. With just one wave of his hand, both Lu and the Pirate Princess were sent flying. When the Moon Priest snapped his fingers again, Lu and the Pirate Princess both froze while suspended in the air. "Lady Hanna Quinzel and Sir Lewis of this Dead World, as per Princess Neoma's order, I shall give you the memories of your counterparts from the current world."
Oh?
Hanna was quite surprised by that.
Neoma asked for our permission earlier.
"Lewis, are you really okay with this?" Hanna asked worriedly. "The Lu of this world will find out your feelings for Neoma."
"It doesn't matter to me, Lady Hanna," Lewis said indifferently. "I'm not ashamed of my feelings for Princess Neoma."
Aww.
Lewis' love for Neoma was really pure.
Hanna couldn't help but feel a bit envious.
I wonder if someone will love me the way Lewis loves Neoma?
Maybe someday.
***
WHEN NEOMA returned to Goddess Roxana's temple after putting a Dome around the area, she found Lu and the Pirate Princess in an "air jail" while unconscious.
Again?
"Princess Neoma, as you commanded, the Lady Hanna Quinzel and the Sir Lewis of this world are currently absorbing Duchess Hanna Quinzel and Sir Lewis Crevan's memories."
"Thank you, Lord Manu," Neoma said. "You may take a rest for now."
"That's what I intend to do, Your Royal Highness," Lord Manu said, and then he just plopped down on the floor as if it was a cushion. "Good night, children."
Heh.
Weak.
"Hanna, Lewis, if your counterparts wake up, convince them to help you train," Neoma said while stretching. "You need them to get stronger while we're here."
Lewis nodded politely. "Yes, Princess Neoma."
"Are you going somewhere?" Hanna asked curiously. "Where?"
"I also need to train hard while I'm here," Neoma said, grinning. "And there's only one place where the strongest are gathered in this world."
***
SOMETHING was amiss.
Nero knew it, but he couldn't figure out what happened exactly since there was nothing wrong with his memories.
His father looked uncomfortable, too.
But Father and I can't stand each other, so we rarely talked properly.
And he could always ask someone else to move for him.
"Lu is missing. The last time my people saw him was when he was at the port," Nero said in a serious tone. "And there are traces of the Genius Sorcerer in the place where Lu was supposedly seen last. I want you to find out if the Genius Sorcerer has something to do with Lu's sudden disappearance, Commander Solfrid."
Yohan Solfrid, the commander of the White Lion Knights, bowed politely towards him. "As you command, Your Imperial Highness."
***
THIS DOESN'T smell like home.
Neoma stood on the roof of the Imperial Tower, home to the Imperial Mages, while taking a good look at the palace.
She could tell that Papa Boss and Nere were there.
I mean, where else would they be?
But there was one presence that she didn't expect to find there easily.
Well, actually, there were a few familiar auras that she wanted to see in this world.
If she was going to fight strong people in order to grow stronger while stuck in that world, shouldn't she piss off those on the top of the hierarchy first?
This is gonna be so much fun.
"Come here," Neoma said, releasing her Mana, Roseheart Blood, and divine power at the same time. "All of you, come to me."
