Sanctum of Death

Chapter 67: 67

What follows is a desperate scramble through the subterranean maze. The tunnels of the cave network weave in and out of large caverns like the one with the paintings. They spiral, rise, fall, turn back on themselves, and narrow and widen unpredictably. Sometimes it feels as though the Beast is so close behind you that you can almost feel its hot breath on the back of your neck. But gradually you gain ground on it, and after an interminable period of running and crawling, you can no longer hear it behind you at all.

You are exhausted. Your body is covered in cold sweat and you are beginning to shake uncontrollably. You will not be able to go much further without dropping from fatigue. You are just passing through another cavern when a familiar voice hisses to you from one of the side tunnels.

"Hey! Over here!"
