He sighs.

"I've been thinking a lot lately. Simon has feelings for me. I know it, even though I pretend not to. Truth is, I like it. I like feeling desired, I like knowing that he'd do pretty much anything for me. And I thought that was about it."

He looks at you.

"But now…I thought of Simon just now, right when I thought that thing was going to kill me. I thought of his stupid grin, and his glasses, and the way he just has to know everything about everything, and how scared he used to be of the dark when we were little. He's…gentle. We're not gentle in my family. Maybe that's why he sometimes makes me so angry. But maybe I also love that about him. Maybe I also love…him."

"Then maybe you should tell him all that, when we get out of here."

"If you're not sure, then it's not love."

"You should just ask him out. Even if it doesn't work out, it could be fun for you both."
