What Mira was trying to show was that simultaneous summoning could be used to completely turn around one’s formation. Emilia thought about it for a moment, and once again was shocked at the realization of the possibilities that opened.

The summoning range of a summoner increased with their ability. In Mira’s case, it was around fifty meters in every direction around her.

That allowed her to place summons surrounding an enemy if she wanted, or create a whole formation in an instant. Or if she was sneaky, she could create a distraction and a surprise attack at the same time while blocking escape routes.

That was another big advantage of using simultaneous summoning.

「Let’s get working on that right away then.」

「Ah, yes!」

Learning to expand one’s range and control over it was another important skill for summoners, especially when using simultaneous summoning.

The first thing Mira checked was Emilia’s range. She turned out to be rather adept already, showing she could summon entities up to ten meters away from her. Or at least single summons.

「Huh…wait…what? What’s…what’s going on?」

She also had no issue using simultaneous summoning ten meters away from her. But as soon as one more condition was thrown into the mix, everything fell apart and she was unable to summon anything.

That condition was to place one in front and the other behind, distancing them.

So far Emilia had always summoned the two Dark Knights next to each other, and in theory, all she needed to do was to space them out. Somehow, that proved to be far more difficult than she expected, and it became the biggest hurdle in the lesson.

「Teacherrrr…」

After trying it again and again, Emilia became frustrated with her continuous failure and turned to Mira with a defeated look, seeking assistance.

「Well, that’s normal when you’re just starting out.」

It already took some skill learning simultaneous summoning, but improving upon that exponentially increased the difficulty of it. Including steps like separating the summons.

「Listen well. The way you channel your mana to summon them is roughly the same, but…」

Mira had been carefully analyzing the way Emilia performed the spells, so she knew exactly what was lacking, and how to amend it. Most of it came from a lack of experience, rather than a deficiency in knowledge, so diligent practice would soon improve her results.

Mira’s indications revolved around ways to gain a feeling for it more easily, and Emilia continued attempting to do it better. Even then, it was something that required time and patience, so by the end of the day, she still had not been able to produce any results. But Mira’s advice and guidance had helped her realize what she needed to work on.

「Oh, it’s already this late. I think we should call it a day here.」

As the Academy’s closing bell rang, Mira also ended the lesson. Emilia looked slightly disappointed that it was already over, but she overcame that as she lowered her head and exclaimed, 「Thank you so much for today, teacher Mira!」

「You don’t need to thank me. I just did it because I wanted to.」

Mira had seen how diligent and hungry for knowledge Emilia was, and replied in kind. Then Mira added, 「See you tomorrow then, same place, same time.」

「Huh?!」

The exhaustion in Emilia’s face turned to shock.

Seeing that, Mira began to fear something. Maybe she had been too harsh and demanding with Emilia, making her fed up to the point she did not want to continue the lesson so soon.

But she was quickly proved wrong. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Emilia had thought the personal lesson was a one time thing, so she had not expected Mira to casually mention a continuation the next day.

「Can we…can we really do this again tomorrow?!」

By then, all traces of Emilia’s exhaustion had vanished from her face, replaced instead by a beaming smile full of anticipation.

「Yes, if you have the drive and time for it, we’ll continue tomorrow.」

「I do, I have both! Please come again tomorrow!」

Emilia gave a near instant reply, showing how deeply passionate she was about summoning. She was so excited that even when her butler came to pick her up, she would not stop talking to him about how she would have another personal lesson the next day.

(Tomorrow, we’ll continue with this…and what else should I teach her, hmm…)

Mira also began to plan her next lesson as she climbed into her wagon and headed back. She was also rather pleased with Emilia’s potential.

Once she returned to the tower, she took some time to wind down, and when Creos returned, she began training him as well.

While they did that, Mira asked about the study plan Creos had formed for the Academy, wanting to check which topics they were currently studying. They also discussed Emilia’s growth, and how much things had improved for summoners as a whole at the Academy.

「I see everyone’s hard at work then. I also believe Emilia will turn into a fine summoner in no time.」

「I still can’t believe she got so far in just one day…」

The other summoner students had just started learning how to use simultaneous summoning that day. So far, none of them had been successful, but many were close.

Meanwhile, Emilia was dashing ahead of everyone else under Mira’s guidance, and Creos still struggled to believe what Mira was saying, feeling like Emilia was moving way too fast.

Creos had crossed that wall in the past, so he knew how hard it was from experience.

Once they were done discussing all of that, they focused entirely on Creos’ training.
