Chapter 3: Sonic's Backstory 3
Sonic's Backstory 3
Sonic's POV *
It's been a week since Wendy decided to stay in the village with us. I was happy to have someone to play with because Mistgun and I spent most of our time training and learning magic, which had started to bore me. Wendy and I had so much fun together—we raced, picked fruit, or I carried her on my back as we wandered around the village.
However, I noticed Wendy sometimes seemed a little sad. I thought it was probably because Grandine hadn't returned yet. One day, she asked the master:
"Grandpa, why aren't there any villagers here?" Wendy had gotten used to calling him that.
"Villagers?" he replied, surprised.
I pretended not to pay attention because it was a sensitive topic, but suddenly he answered:
"Oh, but there are villagers here, and they're all waiting for you outside."
"What???" I exclaimed in shock.
I immediately ran to open the door, and I saw the village filled with villagers!
It was incredible! How had all these people appeared here so suddenly, without warning?
Sonic: "How… How is this possible, Master?"
Roubaul: "Well, as you can see, they just arrived from a long journey."
I couldn't keep questioning him; the scene was just too overwhelming. There were even bags with them, as if they were returning from a long trip.
Days passed since the village was suddenly repopulated, and Mistgun left without a trace. Wendy and I found an egg in the forest and decided to keep it. Later, we discovered it contained a magical flying cat species known as an Exceed. When the egg hatched, a white cat came out, and we could already tell it was female. The whole village was thrilled, especially Wendy, who felt like a mother, while I saw myself as a father.
One day, we decided to sit by the river during a sunset. We loved sitting by the river and fishing for Carla, even though she wasn't the type of cat to eat fish.
Wendy (a bit down): "Sonic, do you think we'll always stay together?"
Sonic: "Of course! Why?"
Wendy: "Because you said you wanted to learn magic, but with my current magic, I don't think I'd be very useful to you."
Sonic: "What? That's nonsense. Of course, you'll be useful! You can support me during battles, and I'll be your loyal hero who becomes strong enough to protect you and Carla."
Wendy (happy, holding his hand): "O-okay."
Carla (between us, annoyed): "Hey, lovebirds, are you going to fish or just keep staring at each other?"
Sonic and Wendy (both blushing): "Oh, right! Sorry, Carla!"
As I reeled in my fishing line, the fish pulled so hard that I fell into the water. Wendy laughed, and Carla facepalmed as I flailed around in the water more than the fish.
Time Skip
Wendy's POV *
During a stormy day, Sonic wanted to go retrieve the baskets of fruit that the village girls had left behind because of the heavy rain. I stopped him, holding his hand.
"No, Sonic, the rain is too strong. You can't go get them, even with your speed," I said.
"What? Why are you so worried? I'm the fastest being in the world! I can go and be back in no time," he replied, pulling his hand away.
"You can't leave like that, especially without me! You know I lo…" I couldn't finish my sentence because he covered my mouth.
"Shh. Tell me when I get back," he said, winking.
He started running toward the door, but I couldn't stop myself from following him, Carla tagging along. The thunder roared as we braved the downpour. When Sonic saw us, he stopped.
"Go back inside! It's dangerous!" Sonic shouted.
"We can do it together!" Wendy shouted back.
"Wendy, listen to him! Let's go back to safety!" Carla yelled too.
As I looked up at the sky, I saw lightning emerge from a strange rift, striking the ground between Sonic and me, throwing us all back. I tried to get up but fell unconscious.
Sonic's POV *
A lightning bolt separated Wendy and me, throwing me to the other side of the river, where I hit a tree. The impact left me unable to move. I felt like I was floating, being pulled toward the dark rift in the sky.
When I woke up, the sun blinded me. I realized I was in a forest that didn't look familiar. Something even worse hit me—I couldn't remember what had happened. My head throbbed, and all I could recall was my name and why I traveled. I got up and started running, faster than usual, overwhelmed by fear and worry.
As I ran, my body began to glow with blue electrical sparks. I ran without knowing where to go until I suddenly screamed, releasing a massive energy explosion that echoed across the world. That's when I realized I had teleported.
When I woke up again, I found myself in a familiar forest. I thought it might have been a dream, but I decided to find shelter. Suddenly, I discovered I was on a hill overlooking a town—Magnolia.
I joined the Fairy Tail guild two days after arriving in Magnolia. While wandering through the city, I met Natsu and Happy. After I explained how I had crossed from one world to another, they introduced me to their master. He decided to let me join the guild and placed me under Laxus's wing. After much begging, Laxus agreed to teach me Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic.
I was happy to live in the guild, but I always felt like I was missing something. Yet, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't remember what it was.
