"I'm happy you came to see me in person, Vinny." Mia says her voice filled with happiness, she bites her bottom lip slightly and gives me those eyes that tell me, all the groundwork has been laid and I just need to close the deal, as she pulls out a soda for me to drink from underneath the counter.

"Me too…I also brought a surprise for you, but we'll get into that later on at some point." I reply with a wink and a little smirk.

"Really, what kinda surprise?"

"You'll just have to wait and see." I murmur teasingly my smirk turns into a smile at the little good natured pout on her lips.

"Mia, Letty, why don't you take Vince here," Dom motions to Vince with his hand, "With you to the store to get the stuff for a BBQ, while I bring Keller here up to speed on things." Dom says though Mia is resting her chin on her fist while smiling at me our gazes locked as she slides her forefinger around the rim of the Pepsi can.

"Mia!" Dom puts a bit more into his voice as he calls out to Mia to get her attention, making Mia roll her eyes, and turn to look at him with some Latina fire in her eyes.

"What Dom?!" Mia snaps at her older brother, but it only has the effect of making Dom chuckle softly.

"I said why don't you and Letty take Vince to the store to pick up groceries for a BBQ." Dom repeats himself, "I heard you the first damn time Dom!" Mia replies and damn is a feisty Mia sexy, I can tell from the way Dom and Mia start to tense up…the similarities between the two are so easy for me to read.

'Yup, this is gonna turn into a sibling argument if I don't step in, I'd rather them not fight over me.' I internally monologue as I stand up and walk over to him and rest my hand on his shoulder, giving him a subtle look.

"Or, why don't you and I go get the groceries? I'm sure Mia is busy here with the store, and has a lot of things to do already without bbq prep." I say to Dom which makes Mia and everyone else look at me with surprised expressions.

'Just shut up and go with it ya big bald lovable idiot.'

"I thought you came here to take the offer I made to you?" Dom asks me while looking hurt as I shake my head slightly.

"I was serious before, I came to see Mia in person without safety glass in the way, and you. Joining you and your crew is an added bonus…that is if they accept me, I figure we can talk in the car Dom." I reply to Dom who raises an eyebrow in surprise, and blows a heavy breath out of his nose before finally nodding in agreement to me.

"How about, Vinny and I go grocery shopping and you stay here and take care of the store, and you, I don't need you to stand up for me, Vinny. I'm a big girl." Mia says as she walks in front of us crossing her arms across her chest and speaking to Dom like he's a small petulant child before she rounds on me, and starts poking me in the chest with her forefinger.

'Oh damn, she's so hot when she's all fired up…'

"Easy there spit fire, I know you can. I wasn't standing up for you, I just figured it'd give Dom and I an opportunity to talk." I joke playful while I grab Mia's finger that is poking me and slide my hand up so that I'm holding her hand, bringing her knuckles up to my lips. I place a kiss on her knuckles, this has the effect of making Mia flush deeply, a shy, slightly embarrassed smile graces her lips as a happy and excited light shines in her eyes.

"Damn, homey came to play." I hear Leon mutter to Letty who laughs and makes a raunchy comment which only serves to make Mia blush even brighter.

Vince makes a sound of jealousy and hatred towards me, that is mostly ignored by everyone, but me...Dom and Letty.

"Come on, let's go." Mia says to me as she squeezes my hand a little bit and pulls me with her over to the counter which she reaches over to grab her purse.

'Oo, me likey a sexy Latina woman that can take charge…'

I look over to Dom and shoot him an apologetic look while he looks back at me with a smirk and gives me an unapologetic shrug…and I realize that I've been played, this is the exact endgame that Dom wanted to happen all along.

'Cheeky bastard.' I smile on the inside feeling amused at Dom's way of showing me his blessings…without the dated if you hurt her I'll kill you thing.

"Have fun you two." Letty snickers from where she stands while shooting Mia a saucy wink, but I think I'm the only one that notices Letty's jealous, envious…and dare I say it hungry look that she's giving me.

'Dom, must not be taking care of her…sorry brother but if that sexy woman comes onto me I'm not going to send her away…'

"Oh hey, could one of you drive my Corvette back to your place?" I ask as I pull the key ring out and toss it to Letty.

"Sure thing." Letty replies back to me with glittering eyes and I have a feeling I might have just made her desire for me increase by a lot.

Once we reach Mia's car which is a very pretty turquoise blue Integra GS-R, Mia reluctantly lets go of my hand and around the car walks to the driver's side door of her car as I slip into the passenger seat.

Mia gets into her Integy and starts the engine, revs the motor a bit before putting the car into reverse, backs out of the cafe's parking lot and into the street, Mia drives about a quarter of a mile down the street before finally speaking to me.

"So how are you doing for real Vinny? The last time I saw you…you seemed pretty…close to the edge…I was worried that you weren't going to let yourself leave…and when you didn't reply to my letter, well I haven't been able to sleep without dreaming of you…" Mia murmurs with a very pronounced tremble in her voice as cautiousness leaks into her voice as she reaches over and grabs my hand.

Her words bring previously the suppressed memories of my predecessor committing suicide in his cell, to the surface.

How he did so was a pretty complicated affair, he bribed a guard and infirmary staff member to get him a large lethal dose of synthetic adrenaline, once shuttled back to his cell after being cleared by the infirmary's physician he killed himself hours before being released.

"Yeah I'm good, I was just overreacting…to an uncertain future…I spent most of my life in there Mia…I wasn't sure if I was cut out to ever leave." I reply to Mia, but instead of making her feel relieved I feel her hand tightening around mine, before finally releasing my hand and reaching for the gear shift, shifting the car into top gear.

"I know you are...but I'm here for you Vinny…I wanted to be there when you got out…but I couldn't wait for you on your release date…not knowing if you weren't going to walk out of the building or not…was, was…" Mia murmurs to me I can hear her love towards me and the doubt she feels towards my earlier reply.

"When I walked out of that place…no one was there I had an old deactivated cell phone…" The pain in my voice is real and Mia makes a strangled sound in her throat.

"Anyways I figured if I didn't come out of that place you and or Dom would have come in there guns'a"blazin to beat my ass if I did something stupid." I joke to ease the shared tension in the car, which makes Mia let out a strangled giggle.

"You're right we would have." Mia replies back to me while turning in her seat to look at me, shooting me a smile…as Mia reaches over and takes my hand in her's once more and this time she brings my hand up to her lips and kisses my knuckles.

'Oh, I really like her…' I internally express…as I stare into her eyes Mia only breaking eye contact as she stops at a red light.

'She just pulled an O'Connor…on me…I should probably feel emasculated or something…but it's kinda a turn on…' I continue expressing in my mind before letting out a soft husky chuckle.

"So…what about you, last time we talked you were thinking about dropping out of nursing school?" I ask Mia who releases a sigh while her shoulders slump a bit, and she lets out a sigh.

"Between running the store and doing the books for the garage and the store, I was just overwhelmed, I was seriously going to drop out. But thanks to you and your advice. I stuck with it…I graduate later this month." Mia replies to me while releasing another sigh as we pull into a small grocery market's parking lot.

"I'm happy for you." I say to her while shooting her a soft smile, as I pull my hand away from her and reach over to open my door, but Mia rests her hand on my knee stopping me.

"What's up Mia?" I ask softly as I notice some wetness at the corners of her eyes, making me reach over and cup her face in both of my hands. I use my thumbs to softly wipe away the moisture as Mia covers my hands with both of her's.

"I'm worried about you, about Dom and the others…with you here Dom will start going after bigger and bigger targets. and then there's your crew…the MC, what happens when they want a cut?" Mia voices her concerns while leaning into my touch.

"You don't have to worry about my crew back home or the other chapters as long as I pay my dues to the MC they won't interfere with what's going on up here they have enough to do…with their own business, and if at anytime you think it's time for us to stop, I'll do what I can to convince Dom to stand down." I comfort Mia while stroking her cheeks with my thumbs.

'I can't resist the urge to kiss her…not when she's like this.' I internally whisper, while leaning forward to kiss Mia, our lips nearly brushing, but Mia pulls away at the last possible moment before our lips touch.

'Shit, I thought we were in the moment.' I internally curse myself as I worry I might have just blown the good feelings and shit between Mia and I.

"I…let's take our time and not rush into anything." Mia says to me with a bit of a horny/nervous tremble leaking into her voice.

"Sure." I nod to her and can see a bit of hurt flash in her eyes.

"It's not that I don't want to, but…we should wait until things settle down, besides Dom still thinks we're still just good friends…and I don't date my brother's friends." Mia says to me softly trying to justify her reluctance to herself and not really to me as she herself starts to lean in close to me our lips brushing against each other's.

'There's also Tara to consider as well.'

"You're right we should take things slow, get to know each other…better, I still have a lot to learn about myself…to adapt to being out here in the wider world." I reply Mia angling my head removing my tright hand from her cheek I place a kiss against her cheek.

Mia smiles at me a big happy smile as she returns my action by kissing my cheek in return.

"I'd like to be there to help you adapt, if you'll let me." Mia murmurs into my ear her voice carrying a distinct huskiness to it.

"That sounds perfect." I whisper back to me Mia before we mutually pull away from one another.

'I should tell her about Tara soon...but I don't want to risk losing this...feeling... I'm feeling right now.'
