Chapter 203: The Hellhound, Cerberus

Several days later, after arranging the affairs of the sect, Xiao Yu prepared to enter the Underworld and embark on a long journey of training.

Accompanying him this time were only his three girlfriends: Qian Renxue, Huo Wu, and Ye Lingling.

Originally, Xiao Yu had planned to bring along Dugu Yan as well, as she was the only one among the younger generation of the Nine Star Hall who could also enter the Underworld.

However, the ever-clear-headed Dugu Yan flatly refused his invitation. Her exact words were, "Do I look like I have a masochistic streak? Why would I go in there just to watch you guys show off your lovey-dovey nonsense and rub it in my face?"

Upon entering Yomi Hirasaka, Qian Renxue surveyed her surroundings carefully. The air was thick with the aura of death, which directly opposed her light attribute.

For Qian Renxue, the best training environments fell into two categories. One was a place filled with light energy, where the elements in the air could speed up her cultivation.

The other was a place like the Underworld, where the pressure created by opposing attributes could drive her to surpass her limits. Such an environment would fully activate her potential and enhance her ability to wield her martial soul.

Xiao Yu shook his head. "This place is called Yomi Hirasaka. It's merely the entrance to the Underworld, not the Underworld itself."

"Are you saying the Underworld is down there?" Huo Wu pointed toward a massive black hole, into which countless shadowy figures were leaping.

"Exactly."

Xiao Yu's confirmation drained the color from Huo Wu's face. She asked nervously, "That place is so dark and bottomless. Won't it be dangerous?"

"Coward. If you're scared, just go back!"

Qian Renxue arched her brow and shot Huo Wu a disdainful glance.

Qian Renxue's haughty nature remained unchanged. Even now, she still harbored grudges against both Ye Lingling and Huo Wu.

Though she managed to coexist peacefully with Ye Lingling due to the latter's gentle personality and her long-standing relationship with Xiao Yu, things were different with Huo Wu. The two had been at odds since their brief time together in the Nine Star Hall, with their clashes escalating into a constant rivalry.

Upon being mocked, Huo Wu's temper flared. She glared at Qian Renxue and shouted angrily, "What did you just say? Are you looking for a fight?"

Qian Renxue sneered. "You? My opponent? Don't flatter yourself. Just because you absorbed that rabbit's spirit bone doesn't mean you're qualified to challenge me!"

Indeed, the 100,000-year-old left arm spirit bone left behind by Xiao Wu had already been absorbed by Huo Wu. The guardian of Yomi Hirasaka alone had a power close to that of a Spirit Douluo, not to mention the dangers waiting in the Underworld.

Huo Wu had the lowest spirit power among the four, and as a battle spirit master, she was bound to face combat. Her risks were much higher than those of Ye Lingling, who was a support system master. Thus, Xiao Yu had decided to give Xiao Wu's spirit bone to Huo Wu, ensuring she had a basic level of self-preservation.

Qian Renxue huffed and turned away, ignoring Huo Wu. Her six-winged martial soul manifested, and two pairs of pristine white wings spread out from her back. With a few flaps, she flew toward the black hole.

"You're coming with me."

Xiao Yu grabbed Huo Wu. Ye Lingling, having absorbed the Blue Silver Emperor's right leg bone, could fly on her own. Among the four, only Huo Wu lacked flight abilities and had to rely on Xiao Yu to carry her down.

Inside the black hole, the darkness was so intense that visibility was nonexistent. Huo Wu, afraid of the dark, clung tightly to Xiao Yu's neck, terrified of falling. Ye Lingling stuck close to Xiao Yu's side, matching his descent speed.

Qian Renxue, unwilling to be outdone, tried to rush forward all at once.

Xiao Yu's reflexes were quick. He grabbed Qian Renxue's delicate hand and spoke softly, "Xue'er, don't act rashly. None of us know what lies ahead. If you get separated, it'll be a real problem."

Qian Renxue snorted softly but didn't pull her hand away. Truthfully, the oppressive darkness around them unnerved her, but she refused to show weakness in front of Huo Wu. She was simply waiting for Xiao Yu to give her an excuse to relent.

The group continued their descent cautiously, huddled together as they flew downward. It was impossible to tell how much time had passed before a faint light appeared in the distance.

"Finally!"

After traveling through the suffocating darkness for so long, Qian Renxue impatiently shook off Xiao Yu's hand and shot toward the light with a whoosh.

"Lingling, let's speed up too!"

Xiao Yu sighed with a helpless smile and turned to Ye Lingling.

Ye Lingling nodded and accelerated after Qian Renxue, while Xiao Yu, carrying Huo Wu, followed close behind.

As they exited the dark passage, they had barely walked a few steps when a massive stone gate appeared before them.

The gate towered over ten meters in both height and width, its surface covered with intricate patterns and reliefs. Two colossal demon statues stood on either side, adding an air of mystery and terror. From beyond the gate came chilling wails that pierced the silence, like hell's roars tearing through the air.

"Abandon even the faintest hope from this point onward."

Qian Renxue murmured as she read the ominous inscription on the gate. The moment her voice fell, the ancient gate creaked open on its own. A gust of icy wind swept through, carrying a chill that penetrated deep into their bones, evoking a profound sense of awe.

"Something's coming—be on your guard!"

Xiao Yu, the strongest in terms of soul power, was the first to sense the ominous killing intent carried by the wind. He warned the three women, and the group quickly assumed defensive positions.

Before long, the guardian of the Gate of Hell revealed itself to them.

It was an enormous three-headed dog, exuding an aura of intense ferocity. Each of its six eyes glowed with a murderous red light, like flames burning with malice. Its powerful limbs stomped the ground, causing tremors with each step. Staring at the four of them, all three heads opened their massive jaws, revealing razor-sharp fangs that gleamed like divine weapons.

"The Hellhound, Cerberus!"

Xiao Yu immediately identified the beast. It was the mythical guardian of the Underworld, tasked by Hades himself with watching over the gates of the dead.
