Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Suspicions, Talks, Fury
[3rd POV]
Standing at the side of Hank, Logan, Ororo, and a few others, Gwen watched as an SUV stopped in front of the eschool. Xavier was sitting in front of them, watching silently as the car parked, and a tall African American man got out, one eye covered in an eyepatch, and a serious look on his face.
"Nick, it's nice to see you after so long! How long has it been now? 3 years?" Xavier asked with a smile, stretching his hand out as the bald man glanced at it before shaking it with his own smile, an obviously fake one.
"3 years, 2 months, 11 days" Fury replied, Natasha and Maria standing a bit behind him, skillfully assessing the group behind Xavier, while not showing it. To others it wouldn't be noticed, but Gwen noticed the way the two were gazing at them and just smiled in amusement.
"Ah, not surprising you would keep track. Why won't we go to my office so we can speak of why you are here?" Xavier offered with a calm smile on his face. Fury nodded with what the man had said, and followed after him as he rolled off to where his office was located.
"I see some new faces around. You been busy recruiting?" Fury asked, as Xavier chuckled.
"We both know that you already know the answer to that question, my friend, so no reason to ask such a thing. But yes, we've been recruiting many new students to our school, as is our duty to our fellow mutant brethren" Xavier responded with a small nod.
Walking into the office, Xavier turned to the group "You all may leave, besides Gwen, Hank, and Ororo" Xavier said, as he decided to have everyone but his most trusted members to leave. Logan would have been told to stay, but thanks to his temperament, he decided against it, and he was pretty sure the man didn't want to be there very much either way.
"She one of your new students?" Fury asked, glancing at the yawning Gwen as she ignored his look. She wasn't afraid of the man at all, even with someone like Captain Marvel on their side. The woman was incredibly powerful, and could destroy worlds, but Gwen had a lot of abilities that perfectly countered her own, making it an easy fight for her.
"Close but no, she is a new professor" Xavier responded with a shake of his head, as he moved to behind his desk, while Gwen sat on a couch, leaning back as she listened to the conversation as it began.
She knew that the conversation was going to be about all of her clones that were saving people around the world, but she was interested in hearing some more important pieces of information that she was lacking. Especially the ones that didn't happen in the comics or other media.
"A new professor? How old is she to get a job like that?" Fury asked, interested in Gwen, as he hadn't ever seen her in the reports he had from the current students at the school.
"She's 19 at the moment. But she is certainly the most unique of our professors, and the best at her job. I trust her to do it" Xavier responded simply, not minding the look he had gotten from Fury upon hearing her age.
"A 19 year old teaching at a school like this one?" Fury asked with furrowed eyebrows, as she glanced at Gwen, confused. He hadn't heard of her from any of the reports, meaning she was an unknown factor.
"She may be 19, but she is the most suited for her position out of anyone I have ever met. Now, what is it you are here for, Nick?" Xavier asked, as he looked at the man who was giving Gwen a look. Hill and Natasha were also looking at her, frowning as the girl leaned back on the couch with a yawn.
"The shadow vigilante, the one that has been causing trouble around the world, we think it's a member of your school" Nick said, as he gave Gwen a suspicious glance.
"You mean the hero who has been saving millions, dismantling human trafficking rings, drug operations, and wiping out entire criminal organizations? All without killing a single soul?" Xavier responded with a raised eyebrow, he knew of the individual who had been doing it, as some of the students had started to look up to them. He didn't mind the vigilante, as they had been doing a lot of good for the world.
"I mean the vigilante who is destroying property, working illegally, and is causing permanent harm to tens of thousands of people, without going through the proper channels" Fury replied with a small scowl. He wasn't a fan of the shadow, as they had been causing a LOT of issues for SHIELD, as they were...basically doing their job better than SHIELD ever had been, and even now, they were hard at work.
"Agree to disagree I suppose. But I can confidently tell you that there is not a single student at this school with a power like that. That much you should already understand, no?" Xavier responded with a calculating look. He knew that Fury had been keeping tabs on his school and it's members, but he also knew that that would no longer be working after Gwen put the various security measures into work.
"Not all of them" Fury said, looking at Gwen who glanced at him.
"You think I'm the Shadow? Please, I've got students to teach, things to build, and girlfriends to love. I don't have time to save people around the globe 24/7 like the shadow does" Gwen responded with an amused smile. There was zero evidence of her being involved, as all of the clones used various illusions from various forms of magic and energies, making it pretty much impossible to see through them. Someone like Fury or Hill wouldn't be able to see through it, it'd take a master sorcerer like Doctor Strange to.
"The shadow has shown capabilities to create clones of themselves, ones that can burst into smoke when attacked or destroyed. Which means that the real Shadow can be anyone, anywhere" Fury responded as he looked at Gwen in even more distrust.
"Nick, I do not appreciate the way you are looking at one of the professors of my school. I do not know who this shadow person is, but I can tell you that it is not a member of my staff or students. You forget who it is I am, and what my power is, so trust me when I say that I'd know if they went to this school" Xavier cut in before Gwen could respond, knowing that Gwen would definitely insult the man if he kept pushing his luck.
"Whatever you say, Charles" Fury replied, glancing at Gwen one final time before they began to talk about less important things, all the while, Gwen was looking through the eyes of her clones on Mars, overseeing their progress on the City.

[An hour later]
After around an hour of them all talking about various topics, mostly political and ones regarding the mutant people, Fury had finally left, but not before he attempted to place bugs in the Mansion, all of which were instantly destroyed by Gwen the second she noticed them.
With them gone, Xavier looked back to Gwen as they watched them drive off.
"You're the shadow, aren't you, Gwen?" Xavier asked, as Gwen simply smiled.
"Perhaps, perhaps not. Does it really matter if I am? The shadow is saving a lot of people, afterall" Gwen replied with a mysterious smile, as Xavier looked at her, before chuckling softly.
"I suppose it doesn't. But if this shadow were nearby, I'd advise caution, as Fury will not let this go, not until he finds out who they are, and he captures them"
"Well I'm sure the Shadow will keep that in mind" Gwen responded with amusement, as the two of them walked back into the mansion, done with the rather short meeting.

[In Fury's SUV]
After driving off from the mansion, and getting a decent range away, the man spoke.
"That girl...I want everything you can get on her. No matter how small, whoever she is, she isn't just a simple teacher" Fury spoke out loud as Hill nodded, while Natasha spoke.
"She's skilled, very skilled. I doubt I'd have been able to beat her if we fought, she had no openings and was completely calm, even with us being there" Natasha said, having watched her closely, noticing the lack of openings, and the fact that the girl would have been able to react in a moment if she needed to.
"And that is without talking about whatever her mutation is. Whatever it is, it must be powerful if she's a professor at the school. Especially one that Xavier himself says is special" Hill added, knowing that Xavier didn't make just anyone a professor.
"Good, I want all the resources you have poured into this. We can't let an unknown factor like her become a threat" Fury said as the two nodded. As they drove off from the school, the man had only one final line of thought on his mind.
'...Who are you, Gwen?'

That's the end of the chapter!
Sorry about the super late upload, but I needed a bit of a break, so I spent yesterday...reading a bunch of manwha lol. I'm in my manwa phase again, alongside reading a lot of cultivation stuff.
Fanon Maker should be getting updated later tonight.
Anyways, have a good day!
