Chapter 140: Thief Arrested
Dongle is now the most suspicious person. Nancy said expressionlessly: "It will take some time to investigate. But we can definitely find the person. This captain is really amazing. It seems like you want to take on all the responsibilities, right?"
Dongle didn't care about being slapped anymore. He was pale and shook his head like a rattle, explaining, "No, I didn't steal!"
The bang startled everyone. Nancy slammed the table and shouted angrily, "Who instructed you to do that? You still don't tell me now. Do you want to be charged as an accomplice for harboring someone?"
"Yes, it's Kaiden!" Dongle gritted his teeth and said, "Kaiden came to me and gave me 2,000 dollars... He said he would give me another 3,000 dollars after the matter was done."
"I, I thought this poor guy was an easy target, and I was short of money recently, so I agreed to it."
"But the person in the picture doesn't look like Kaiden," Lyla said in confusion.
Those who knew him a little bit could see that Kaiden was obviously not that tall. Lyla thought about it for a while and suddenly said, "Henry, he likes to dress like this the most."
Henry and Kaiden, who looked ashen, were also called in. As soon as they came in, Dongle stood up and said, "It was them. I only turned off the surveillance and secretly gave them the keys. The rest has nothing to do with me."
Nancy stood up, straightened her police hat, and said in a cold voice: "You two students are very aware of anti-detection. You know you need to wear gloves when stealing. That's amazing."
Soon, the investigation led to the two of them as well.
Henry trembled and said, "I... I was just joking with him."
Kaiden, on the other hand, glared at Ryan with hatred and said, "It didn't cause any real harm. What's the big deal?"
"Hmph, still acting tough!" Nancy sneered and ordered her subordinates to bring out handcuffs. "Theft, framing someone—you think these are small matters?"
"Now, all you need to think about is who the main culprit is, because that person will get a heavier sentence... Take them away!"
The group left the school in a grand procession. Henry, Kaiden, and Donglie were all detained. The school's teachers and leaders, as well as Ryan and his two dormmates, were taken in for questioning.
By the time they left the university district police station, it was already early morning. As Ryan stepped out, he was stunned by the sight before him—it was like an all-star lineup.
Behind him was Yasmin, and outside the police station stood three stunning girls. Lyla and Yana were anxiously waiting, which was understandable, but even Tina was standing at the entrance.
No one spoke, and the atmosphere was eerily quiet, like a bomb waiting to explode on a fire.
Jacob gave a meaningful look, and Weston immediately caught on. "Ms. Yasmin, you've had a long night. It's not safe for you to go alone this late. Jacob and I will walk you back."
"That's a good idea. Thank you, boys," Yasmin said, quickly deciding to make her exit.
After all, she was still a teacher and couldn't openly reveal her relationship with Ryan. On the surface, they had to maintain an appropriate distance.
"Not at all, it's our honor!" Weston flattered.
But it was true that the male dormitory was buzzing. The school group chats were all praising Yasmin as a great teacher.
She hadn't chosen to sacrifice her student for the school's reputation. Instead, she had fiercely defended her student against the security office, which was incredibly admirable...
"Goodbye, Ms. Yasmin!" Ryan watched helplessly as they left, then braced himself and walked toward the three girls.
"Ryan, are you okay?" Yana threw herself into Ryan's arms, while Lyla, on the other side, also hugged him without hesitation.
Seeing their tearful, worried faces, Ryan felt a pang of guilt. But his gaze involuntarily shifted to Tina.
Tina stood gracefully in a long dress, her hair tied in a ponytail, looking pure and beautiful. She glanced at the scene of Ryan being embraced by two girls but didn't seem surprised.
Her eyes held a hint of sadness, but there was no anger. Ryan nodded at her and said, "Tina, thank you for finding that video so quickly tonight."
"Even if I hadn't posted it, someone else would have," Tina said with a hint of bitterness. "Alright, you two, stop showing off your affection. Do you know what time it is?"
"Even if you're willing, don't be so outrageous. If someone takes a photo, you'll become famous."
"The school group chats are already blowing up. Do you really want to become even more notorious?"
As they walked back to school, Lyla and Yana clung to Ryan's arms, one on each side. Tina, walking ahead, couldn't help but add, "Lyla, I don't care!"
Yana had the same expression. They wished Ryan would publicly acknowledge their relationship.
Ryan, however, smiled wryly and said, "I don't want to be too famous."
Remembering Ryan's principle of staying low-key, they stuck out their tongues and let go of his arms. The four of them walked back to the school gate in a line.
Although it was early morning, the situation tonight was special. The security guards had already been notified, and the gates probably wouldn't be closed for the night.
"I'll head back first. My sister's alone at home, and I'm worried," Yana said, bidding farewell and heading back to the apartment complex.
That left Lyla and Tina, making the situation even more awkward. This was a full-blown showdown. Ryan had been Tina's ultimate simp for three years.
Lyla and Tina were inseparable roommates and best friends, closer than most sisters, practically joined at the hip.
Even though Ryan and Tina hadn't dated, Lyla's actions weren't exactly loyal, which naturally affected their friendship.
Tina suddenly turned and said softly, "Lyla, can you go back first? Let me talk to Ryan alone."
