Chapter 207: Ah... This Isn’t Right!

As a result, just as the house was renovated, some particularly dramatic changes occurred in the marriage.

First, the man cheated on his wife and met a younger and prettier girl. He got her pregnant, and the girl went to his hometown to force him to leave his wife.

As soon as the man's parents saw that they had a grandson to hold, they urged him to divorce his wife and remarry. The man was already inclined to do so—after all, his new lover was younger and more beautiful.

Just as they were about to reveal their true intentions, the woman felt unwell and went to the hospital for a check-up. There, they discovered she was two months pregnant. Both of them were completely stunned.

The man had been on a business trip abroad for some time and had only returned during her menstrual cycle. They hadn't been intimate for three months.

This revelation caused a huge uproar, and they began arguing fiercely. The woman had no choice but to admit that she had cheated with her fitness coach and that the child was likely his.

What made the situation even more absurd was that the woman had originally been adamant about being childfree. Yet, after discovering her pregnancy, she suddenly changed her mind and decided to keep the baby.

She was an independent woman with a high income and had no intention of holding the fitness coach accountable. For someone like her, it was simply ideal—keeping the child without involving the father.

The most ironic part was that, in the end, both parties considered the outcome favorable. With their parents' cheerful approval, they divorced amicably and divided their assets.

There was no bitterness or resentment between them. In fact, one might even say it was a happy ending.

"They both own other properties, so neither wants this one. They're eager to finalize the divorce, and with real estate prices dropping..."

The agent added, "They've listed it without requiring a down payment—just take over the mortgage, which effectively means a 40% discount on the house price."

There was no other way. The market was in a slump, and prices were falling everywhere. Their only goal was to offload the property as quickly as possible.

The real estate agent saw an opportunity and took over the house, but now he regretted it.

"You're a highly educated overseas returnee, and your elaborate design is undoubtedly avant-garde and stunning. The problem is, the apartment's layout is just too unconventional."

Property speculators had all but vanished, leaving only genuine buyers—most of whom were inexperienced. Even seasoned agents struggled to market this house effectively.

Those who could afford a property of this size were usually looking for family homes. They'd take one glance at the layout, shake their heads, and walk away. There wasn't even a proper children's room—how could a family live here?

Meanwhile, those in the market for a one-bedroom apartment couldn't afford commercial housing at this price point, settling instead for smaller units.

The house was stuck in limbo—too niche to attract buyers. The expensive renovations couldn't even be factored into the valuation unless they were demolished entirely.

"Renovations should be done conventionally, or else you end up with something so unappealing that no one wants it. It's like those relationships where someone keeps a mistress in a lavish home—pointless."

"I'd rather rent a more practical apartment in the city. Paying a premium for this place is out of the question. It's never been rented out, and selling it is even more hopeless."

"No wonder!" Abigail suddenly understood. "I thought it looked like a luxury hotel suite. Turns out they never planned on having children."

The agent, seizing the rare opportunity, pitched the house enthusiastically: "Exactly! But it's perfect for young couples. This is what modern living should be—pure enjoyment."

"How much is it now?" Ryan asked.

Ubaya frowned in confusion. "Do you really want to buy it? I think even renting it would be too expensive."

Ryan smiled. "If the two of you live together, this place would actually be ideal. You can always change later if needed."

"Yes, yes! You two clearly have exquisite taste," the agent chimed in eagerly.

A duplex one-bedroom luxury apartment was the dream home for young couples, especially with its spacious master bedroom—perfect for future needs.

Ryan's mind wandered to less innocent thoughts, while the agent studied the hesitation and uncertainty on the women's faces.

He quickly added, "There's still $1.33 million left on the mortgage, and we've already paid back $110,000. At current market rates, we're just looking to break even—around $1.5 million."

"All fees, taxes, and transfer costs are on us."

Ryan pulled out his card. "Loans are a hassle. I'll transfer the full amount upfront, and you handle the early repayment."

"No problem! You can trust our professionalism, Mr. Ryan."

The agent was practically vibrating with excitement as he produced the contract. Ryan said casually, "Abigail, just put your name on it. This will be your home from now on."

"Ah... this isn't right!"

Abigail hesitated. She already felt she'd received too much—asking for a house on top of everything else seemed excessive.

Humans are naturally greedy, but when you're given more than you ever imagined without any means to reciprocate, joy turns to anxiety and fear. That was exactly how she felt.

At the very least, Ryan understood this. He pulled Abigail aside and whispered, "Abigail, do you trust me?"

"If you told me to die right now, I'd do it without question."

Her voice was tender, filled with devotion.

With that kind of loyalty, any man would be reluctant to let her go. Their entire dynamic made it clear—she was experiencing love for the first time, wholly and unreservedly.

Her relationship with Ubaya was complicated, bordering on obsessive. What they shared wasn't quite familial, nor was it romantic. Yet, they cherished each other above all else, defying easy categorization.

Being with Ryan, though money played a role, had introduced her to emotions she'd never known in the first half of her life.
